Yeah, sounds like a plan, too bad everybody is spread out all over North America, and another fucking planet(night).

Do you know if it is possible to use the T5 silencer with FMF headers, I like the Gnarlys, they are great for the woods and trails, but you are correct, the Power Core sucks, the rivets are a pain in the ass, and the core also sucks. Whenever I do them, I always pack 'em good. I ass u me d this one was good too because it came from FMF like that. I'll be extra careful if I do them again though. Thanks for the info.

I had a problem like that on my YZ, and it ended up being that the pilot was too lean, and the silencer needed to be re-packed. If you do re-pack it, maybe even wrap it a little looser(little more bottom end). Hope that helps, my YZ wasnt as bad as you said your shee is, but it definately didnt hit early enough(for my liking)

probably can't say "about" the correct way, ehh? sorry dude, couldnt resist the obvious canadian joke.
-
hahahaha, that made my day the deisel will definately give you more low end, works really good.
-
I've never hit the rev limiter on my shee, but on other bikes, it would "bounce off the rev limiter" in the top end. I knew I was hitting it, because it would cut the revs back, and then rev up, and do the same. I usually hit just trails, so I've never opened up my shee in 6th, but hey, a little bit of insight I guess.
-
If your not using it, I would just turn it off, better safe then sorry you know. On my bike if you don't turn it off it pisses all over the place if you lean it too far. By the way dude, you really need to cut down that long ass sig, it makes scrolling soo much harder.

I'm guessing your referring to the ceramic coating? I've heard mixed things about it, mostly that it was going to be fragile. I do mostly woods and trails, so I was really looking for something that was going to hold up. Like I said too, you could get away cheaper if you don't have the raised letters done in a different color. Just wanted to try something new, if it holds up for me for more then 2 seasons and still looks good, I think it will be worth the money, but we'll see.

And the cores were ok on yours? They werent brittle, and didnt break or anything? Maybe I went too long without repacking htem, but I thought 2.5 yrs. wasnt bad at all.
-
Fawkin' great, time to switch I guess, Just pisses me off, because the muffler on my yz has to be 9+ years old, and I've repacked it twice, whoever had it before me must have done it, and I have never had a problem. This just sucks, for 2.5 year old silencers, this shouldnt be, and it's not like I abused them or ran them hot either. Ohh well, guess I'll have to look at other silencers.
-
True, true, they don;t look to be the most durable. The one core, in the picture is now shot, I crushed most of it, the other one appears to be fine, and I have never seen just the cores for sale. I'm gonna grab new silencers I guess, the old ones were fairly rusted, any suggestions on a more durable silencer?

Ok, went to re-pack my FMF power cores on my shee, and yz today. The shees silencers are 2.5 yrs. old,a nd have never been repacked, as soon as I took them apart, the core broke right off of the actual tube leading into the silencer. I guess my question is why did this happen? The silencer was packed from FMF, and the packing didn't look that bad at all. I don't mind spending the 160 for new silencers, if it was my fault, and if it was I don't want it to happen again. I know it probably is somehow, this is the first 2 stroke I've owned that I have worked on, so I'm still a little lost on some of this stuff. A pic is below, and any input would be greatly appreciate. Edit: Upon firther inspection, the whole core is very brittle, and will crush if it is squeezed. Every thing I know says that it must have gotten too hot at one point or another, but the jetting has always been perfect(per plug chop), and the bike has always run perfect, for as long as the silnecers have been on. Again, any insight would be very helpful.

If anyone out there has a set of stock carbs without TORS lyring around PM me, I really could use a set to screw around with, and learn jetting on. Tried PMing people in the for sale section, but they all either sold them or had still ahd TORS, or never got back to me. Thanks,

I'm not big on chrome, I hate how it turns colors when it gets hot, and every chrome pipe I've ever had, never lasted long. I wanted to give this stuff a shot, if I go to NY during the summer and ride, I wont wash my quad for the whole week I'm there, and it really takes a toll on the pipes. I'll see if it holds up any better, I could have gotten away about 30 or 40 cheaper if I didnt have the raised letters done, but hey, gotta have a little bling.

I think my FMF headers came out pretty awesome, I had a guy from VA do them because I could find no one around the NJ area, and he does awesome awesome work, he even sandblasted the pipes for me, and cleaned them all up. I havent gotten them installed on my bike yet, but I do have 2 pics. It was done in 1400+ High Temp Silver with the FMF letters done in the same high temp black. I am interested to see how well they hold up after riding, because the original chrome finish sucked. Here goes pics, Gotta give this guy a plug, if you ship him headers(must degrease first), he does an awesome job. I paid like 120 or so for the work abov, I also have him doing my hubs, and some other stuff. Awesome guy to work with, check out his site, http://home.earthlink.net/~callmej75/

looks sick, but I think I'll pass.....

The stockers are junk, mine held their charge for MYABE a year of good riding. Then I was bottoming out of small jumps. I ditched 'em, and put in Works(being the cheap ass that I am) I havent ridden them yet, so I really can't tell ya how they are, but for the price they look andvery nice.....

Jetting Change for flywheel/timing advance
LiftdT4R replied to LiftdT4R's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Yeah, both of us have been riding for years,we started out with zook 230s, so we both have about equal skill, I usually take him by 3 bike lengths or so in about 1/8th, I do have the pro-flo adapter, I just run the lid on, cause I see some water on the trails. Thanks for the info man, you guys are super helpful! -
Jetting Change for flywheel/timing advance
LiftdT4R replied to LiftdT4R's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I know, I know, I didnt even expect anyone to answer on sunday, so I guess I can't bitch. I am not sure if I put in a 290 or not, it might have been a 260, but the plugs looked perfect. I really hope I notice at least somewhat of a difference with the flywheel and tiing, I just want to be able to beat my buddies 400ex with a pipe and filter by 4 instead of 3 bike lengths. If I do ditch the air box lid, what would you say to go up to, I was thinking 280, I heard that dumps a lot more air into the mix. Thanks man! -
Jetting Change for flywheel/timing advance

Posted all the info in my first post except temp. I am at about 150ft, aprox 70*, fliter is a uni, in stock airbox, with lid. Thanks man, appreciate all the help, I'm trying to pick up a 2nd set of carbs, so I can fawk with those, while leaving my setup that I have no untouched, that way I can always drop the orignals back in, when I fawk up the jetting. -
Jeff is awesome! Sold me brake lines, and bearings, everything in awesome shape, for an awesome price!!! Thanks man!

Jetting Change for flywheel/timing advance
LiftdT4R replied to LiftdT4R's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Thanks, that's what I thought, I will plug chop it just to be on the safe side, but the flywheel and timing arent puting anymore fuel or air into each stroke if I understand it correctly. Any idea of what size main I should be running. All my info is in my sig and the first post. Like I said, I beleive I have a 290 main, but I can't remember. Thanks, -
Just was wondering if I should plan on changing my jetting when I throw in my lightened flywheel, and stator timing plate. I was going to bump up to +4 on the timing, sems to be the general consensus. These mods wouldnt actually put more fuel or air into each stroke(as far as I know), so I'm guessing I would not have to change the jetting. But just wanted to make sure , I'm still a rookie when it comes to this, and I don't want to run the thing out lean until I blow it. Also, was wondering what size mains I should be running? I think I put in 290s, and the plug chop looks perfect, everything idles fine, and seems to run smooth, but just wanted to double check. Altitude is aprox. 150 ft., mods are in my sig, and the airbox still has the lid on it. And one last thing, I have been running Super gas, 93 octane, should I stick with this when I do my timing advance. I have like 110psi now. Thanks!

Well I guess if your trying to build a "sleeper" then go ahead.
