Stock pipes what terrain do they work best in?
LiftdT4R replied to icprey's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
The FMF Gnarleys are good trail pipes, I noticed a big all around difference after I put mine mine on. I hate their friggin silencers. The above poster is right, 2 strokes arent known for their low end power to begin with, although, I pull trails just the same as any of of my buddies with 450s, and 400s. Hell, trails are soo tight sometimes, even my Kawie 250 keeps up just fine. Banshees can make great trail bikes, just not with stock silencers. DITCH 'EM, that should definately be your first mod! Get the right pipes, and you'll notice a huge difference. -
Unfortunately I don't, but I would reccomend using only the Yamaha parts. If you notice, on the upper a-arm bolts, they are not threaded most of the way through, and are reasonably thick in that part(adds to the sterngth of the bolt). If you have a full thread inside the bushing it is likely to sieze up from wearing the threads against it. Its is also a special lock nut that goes on the end of it. I'm not sure what grade they are, but I think they were about $8 a piece when I bought them. Some things I chance with the stainless metric bolts from Lowes, but I wouldnt do that with these, pony up the $$$ and get them from Yamaha, but just my .02

:yelrotflmao: your such a douche bag, your signature gets progressively worse by the way.

I posted pics and a link earlier in the thread, check out cryptomundo.com, that is the most pics you will find. I read on there earler that it is just a mixed chow, and now that makes sense after seeing a picture of a chow. -
PM me if you want to sell the pegs, are they AC Racing? They look hot. If you could, shoot me a price on the hipers, I've been looking for a set for a while. Thanks,

Not too get too mathmatical here, but if there is no leak you should be fine. According to Clymer, once 20% of the original surface area is gone, it is time to replace it. Kinda hard to caluculate, but mine is definately worse, and I have run it for about a year now no problems, the new oens are so darn expensive for a big hunk of aluminum.

They are just like throttle body spacers on cars, absolutely useless. I had them on my bike, and I didnt notice a difference either, think they're laying in my trailer now. Maybe with biggercarbs, like said above it might make a difference? I don't know, but I couldnt tell any difference.

Not as nice as everyone elses in this thread, but here's mine before I ripped it apart.

Nope, no rev limiter, I actually never knew most 2 strokes never had rev limiters. Check http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/elecfaq.html

Read the full article on Cryptomundo That thing does look fucked up. I am fron NJ, and I don;t get to see much wildlife, but the other pics look even weirder. Not sure, probably just some kind of wolf or coyote. -
damn dude, where the hell are you riding at? I'm guessing CA, with all those eco-nazis and what not. I used to ride open-header on 4 strokes all over NJ. Do they actually check your decibel level, or do they just say it's too loud. I've seen park rangers once in a blue moon check for spark arrestors, but to go around and measure decibel levels is insane. Spark arrestors I can understand, there is a minute chance you could start a fire if it is dry. Decibel levels, now way, It's my earth too!

anyone know how to resolve cats in your yard
LiftdT4R replied to barely legal racing's topic in General Banshee Discussion
That's not gross, its sad, while I wouldnt do it, I dont imagine it would be that hard to strangle a cat with a belt. Come one man, if you ride a shee, I'm sure you have stronger arms then that! -
Just run the FMF Turbine Cores yes, FMF silencers suck, as I have found out, but its only 240 + ship for a pair of these. Probably what I'll be buying next. They have a spark arrestor, and ANYthing is better over stock. Just my .02
-
The headers leading into the pipe are pretty nasty, the chrome is shot. Also, the cores need to be welded on I'm guessing, and I don't have access to a welder. It's gonna be way easier to buy a new set of silencers, and just keep up with them at this point I think. Thanks for the offer though, I appreciate it.

Yeah, people in NJ are just smarter then people everywhere else. -
Not to hi-jack or anything, but I was just wondering how the pickup coil could cause a problem like that. I don't doubt you or anything, I think I'm just a little lost as to how it works. From what I gather, when the little tab on the flywheel passes over the pickup coil, in will induce a charge, and the current made flows through the coil, to the CDI, and the CDI tells the plug to fire. If the gap is too big in the coil, there will not be high enough current induced. I guess I'm lost from there about why the bike won't hit the power band until so late. Are the plugs not firing at the right time or at all? Sorry again to threadjack, it just really helps me to know what's going on, I'm still having this problem a little bit in my YZ, repacking the silencer helps, but it just hits way too damn late for such a little bike, and everything else(jetting, compression) is perfect. Me and my buddies were completely stumped on this one too, and gave up just thinking it was the way the bike was. I'm going to measure the gap, and check it with my Clymer, but if anyone could explain this, it would definately help. Thanks,

Damn dude, looks the same as mine, a pit will definately solve any unwanted problems that happen to stray into your yard. That's some straight up DMX shit. The Doors???? -
Ohh ok, gotcha, and I guess your referring to the thermacoat? I didnt know about it at the time. But it sounds like cool stuff. I'm gonna run the powdercoat next season, and I'll see how it holds up from there. These pipes looked awful, and if I didnt do something about them, I definately wouldnt have been able to run them after next year, so hey, $130 beats $330 for new pipes. Still have to buy silencers though(shitty FMF stuff).
