  1. Banshee-man hit the main point on the head of why gm switched to dexcool. The lubricative properties of antifreeze to dexcool are quite adverse. Gm did to save money on failing cooling system components that were failing ultimately due to lack of lubrication.
  2. So it is to the top of the float? Does clymer say to where also?
  3. Anyone remember what the float level is in the stock carbs? I know its measured from the bowl mating surface without the gasket, but I can remember if you measure to the seam on the float or whatever it was? If I remember correctly, you tip the carb at a 90 degree angle and work it around towards a 45 degree angle. While adjusting the floats, so at spec the needle arm just starts to touch the top of the needle, correct?
  4. Well, I have a trinity and a cascade intake in the garage. More than likely upp makes the boots for all 3 intakes if you want to call them. So that is 2.75" width wise, by 2.25" height wise on the mount bolts? Not sure, but sounds close to the trinity intake boot mounting size. UPP Racing There is a company called K&L that has alot of intake boot stuff also. K&L Supply
  5. Even on the dyno, the jetting wont get perfect. Jet it off feel and observation under real world load out in the sand or wherever your riding it. If going down with mains doesn't help, then go up. Remember, needle taper towards the end is also gonna help you get into the top end. If its not the right needle or the taper is wrong. Well then you need to get that adjusted as well.
  6. If the dyno did not have an engine break, theres no way to really fine tune the needle and the pilot jet. Thats gonna have to be done when you ride it in the sand under load. Only real thing the inertia drum dyno can help do is get the main jet and needle close. Also tell you hp, torque, run times, and changes that different timing and parts settings would make.
  7. I dont take people like 504 too seriously when they come in here, create a member username, dont fill out any profile info, type with the caps lock on, and their first post is asking how to put a Ninja motor in a banshee. :ermm:
  8. Being ASE certified and Master ASE certified are two entirely different things. The L1 test is a hard ass test. I'm not just ASE certified though. The point is, I have learned about all this shit, and I know answers to things like why gm came out with dex cool, because I work for gm, and go to gm training school.
  9. At least someone knew why I said it!
  10. How many people that posted here and told me basically I was wrong about green coolant actually are master Ase certified technicians? How many went to an automotive trade school and earned an accredited associates degree in auto technology? How many have gone through Audi Step program technical training? How many have been through GM factory training? How many are Audi Factory certified? How many are GM certified? How many take a GM factory training course every month for 4 hours? How many worked in an Automotive repair facility on heavy line every working day of their lives for the last 8 years? Not to throw all this out there just to say what I say is right! Along the way doing all this stuff, I managed to remember and pick up a few things from my work and training. Not to mention when you know someone like Dyno Dave Roberts, and you ask him for some coolant at the dunes. He will tell you he has some, but you cant mix it with regular antifreeze because he is running low silicate ethylene glycol. Then you get to asking what the big deal with that is. Basically you get the whole story that has unfolded in this thread as a dialogue between a punk kid who thinks he knows it all, and a Boeing engineer who worked on the stealth project and is one of the smartest 2 stroke builders I have ever known. So, as I said, run the antifreeze if you want, but I conveyed my opinions on what I run, and why I do. End of discussion. Snop.
  11. Why cant you get the boot? Did you contact the ebay guy and rpm? Measure the boot mt bolts centers cross wise, vertically, and diagnoly and report back.
  12. do a compression check.
  13. Chances are if you have to ask, then you probably shouldn't be doing it.
  14. Its hard to believe your bike gets cooled down at all with green shit in it!
  15. Tell the guys who are R&D'ing the unit to double kick it while trying to start it backwards. Then they will see a major issue with the kit.
  16. I spend almost $1k a year with rocky mountain. Never had an issue, and I get a nice sized gift certificate back at the end of every year.
  17. How are they keeping it from eating the kickstarter gear? If you start the bike backwars, the gear will get sucked in towards the case, then shot out a giant hole in the case. Seen it 2-3 times on bike with motoplat ignitions.
  18. He is down at boxcar on the big weekends. Its amazing watching him drive down the whoop road at 45mph. Lonestar sponsors him now, so lots of free stuff.
  19. I would check your stock compression and report back for a more accurate dome recommendation.
  20. toomey doesn't make a 2 into 1 pipe. They make a 2 into 1 hush kit that goes on the end of a set of toomey pipes and silencers. This is a dynoport 2 into 1 pipe. This is a toomey hush kit.
  21. check compression, if its ok, then try changing the jetting.
  22. mine runs 19cc at 169 psi at sea level. I run 50/50 race at 100 octane. Check your stock compression now and report back.
  23. left to right and vice versa. You probably should make sure the choke balance tube is on while your at it.
  24. Well this guy is a good friend of mine. He won the worcs series. Only thing he has ever been beaten by in a drag race is a long travel RZR. However, he was pretty adimit about the fact that he still won the worcs series in a rhino and its all mx.
