You would get slightly increased durations with a long rod since the piston would move away slower from tdc and bdc (increased dwell time). But it wouldn't be anything significant.

you'd run a risk of shattering some fibers.. I wouldnt run it.

Get porting... Trust me when I saw its a traction issue.. I've had the exact same experience! my cousin was all sorts of pissed off when I was spankin his shee with my 450.. He had the exact same setup as you almost (his was ported). Lim had some good suggestions also. He'd spin the holeshots... but.. put his paddles on and he'd get me every run.

The plates have nothing to do with the rod length.. The plates are to accomadate the stroke. a 4mil with 110 rods will use a 513 piston and you can either use a plate.. OR.. have it ported AND use special cut domes for the added stroke. The pistons (795 and 573) are for the rods.. The 573 are used in big bore long rod applications..

You only need to use blaster pistons if your bore is larger then 66mm. And no porting is need to match the piston. The 795 pistons are designed for the 115mm rods.. not the 4mil stroke. Other mods need to be done to accomadate for the stroke. either a stroker plate.. or porting AND cut domes for a 4mil. I prefer the porting and domes. Cubs dont need the modded domes since they add deck height for the stroke. 795 series pistons are only available up to a 66mm.. Thats why we use Blaster pistons in our 68mm cubs. You can use short rod cranks in just about any motor.. as long as a piston is available for that setup.. Some setups require specialty pistons which limits your options.

Yes... they do make stock stroke long rod cranks. all you need to run this setup is a 795 series piston.. No porting is required.

I dont agree with this at all.. if your running a 4mil with short rods.. all you'd do is run a standard piston and use a spacer plate. (not that I'm a fan of the plates or recommend them) If you ran the 795 pistons on a short rod 4mil the port timings would be way off along with a very loose squish band.
