  1. I would definetly hang on to the bike you've got. It looks like there was a ton of time and effort that went into that bike, not to mention cash, and I'll guarantee you that you're gonna kick yourself in the ass in a major way if you sell it. Take your time, save up some cash, and slowly build a drag shee. You won't regret it in the long run. By the way, does Wes actually ever post anything worth reading? Everytime I see his name pop up in a thread, I scroll straight to his signature for the boobies, and forget to even read what he typed. For all I know he could have posted how to cure cancer, have world peace, and balance the federal budget.
  2. If you want HUGE gatherings, snakehunt is the biggest weekend of the year, and it's the first weekend after easter. Sandfest is the other really big weekend, and I think it's the first weekend after labor day. Keep in mind that if you go out there for the big weekends, it's alot of fun if you're going out there to party and drag race, but as far as hitting the big dunes, there just seem to be too many people out there for it to be quite as enjoyable as one of the slower weekends. I can't speak for everyone, but it seems like you always take a much bigger risk of meeting someone head on at the top of a dune on a big weekend. Also, if you do go on a big weekend, make sure to bring plenty of mardi gras beads, but don't let the cops catch you handing them out. Other than that, I found that the best times are usually mid-april to early june or early september to mid october. There are usually still quite a few people out at the dunes at these times, and the weather isn't too cold at night, but it's not extremly hot during the day.
  3. Exactly how much are you looking to spend on the a-arms? Knowing a price range will help alot with determining what type of arms to start looking at.
  4. Ok, just the fact that you did business with a 17 year old kid, and he "fked you over" makes it that much funnier. In all honesty though, the way you come on here bitching about it, I would assume that there's really not that much of an age difference. Come on bud, you bought a banshee. Did you think you were going to just put gas in it, ride it, and never have to work on it at all? Anytime you buy a used bike, you should pretty much assume that there is going to be a little bit of work that is going to have to be done on it. You got the chance to look the bike over, and apparently you didn't do it very well. That's your loss. Chalk this one up as a learning experience and go on.
  5. I got mine installed in about 5-10 minutes. You'll probably want to go ahead and drop the few extra dollars on the wrench that they sell for the axle nut, unless you just happen to have a 70mm wrench laying around.
  6. Since you've got it tore down that far, I'd consider tearing down the rest of the way, and cleaning it up right. You might consider throwing a coat of paint on it while you're at it, or have it powdercoated if you've got the $$$.
  7. What kind of "something else" did you have in mind?
  8. I'm looking to trade a -2 inch Lonestar swingarm for a stock length round housing swing arm. Let me know if anyone is interested.
  9. Any idea what the camping situation is going to be like now that you can't camp on the side of the road that leads into the north campground? This would be a huge factor in if I go or not.
  10. I just can't see paying money for a chain break. I've always had great results with a file, a punch and a hammer.
  11. It sounds I've got a couple of buddies that are talked into going out there with me for this if the weather is even half-ass decent. I'm doing a top-end rebuild on mine, and one of my buddies is installing a ESR 427 big bore kit with a 50hp shot of nitrous, so we are both wanting to get out on the sand and see how our shit's gonna run.
  12. From what I can find Florence, Oregon is at 23 feet (basically at sea level). Average high temperatures range from mid 50's in the winter to lower 70's in the summer. Average lows are from mid 30's in the winter to low 50's in the summer.
  13. If they do make one, do you really need it? I would think that unless you are doing some kind of freestyle stuff, a quad rate shock would be a little overkill.
  14. It just seems to me that March is a lil early in the year to be sleeping in a tent. I think me and my buddies are going to wait and go the first week of May. It sounds like it's gonna be a helluva good time though.
  15. It's time for me to do a top end rebuld, and I'm not sure which ones to go with. Please give suggestions, and reasons why each piston is better.
  16. Going fast is great, but you gotta look good while you're doing it.
  17. Check out bikebandit.com. I'm not sure what you're willing to pay for it, but they have them.
  18. There's a 3 step process to this. 1. Hit it with a hammer 2. Get a bigger hammer 3. Go back to step 1
  19. I've actually started to consider carrying a gun when I ride. Last weekend, me and some buddies were riding on what we were pretty sure was public land, when a man with a pit bull and a rifle informed us otherwise, and asked us to leave. Since I didn't figure I could get the rifle away from him quickly enough to shoot the dog we didn't argue, but I'm still fairly certain that it is public land. If I'd have had a firearm of my own, I might have been a little more likely to argue my point.
  20. Ok, you've got me interested now. Where is St. Anthony's and what is the big appeal?
  21. Go with a set of CPI inframes, and you won't be disappointed.
  22. Brass punch and a big ass hammer does wonders. If that doesn't work, get a bigger hammer.
  23. As much as I hate to say it, the YFZ 450's can really run. The thing that really pisses me off though, this...could you imagine if yamaha would have put half the effort into improving the banshee as they have put into the YFZ setup? I guess when they banshees are still selling, and you plan on getting rid of them anyhow, there really isn't much motivation to sink alot of R&D money into it.
  24. I tried the 8 paddle sand devils, and I wouldn't recommend wasting your money on them. They are alot cheaper than the skat-traks, but you are getting exactly what you pay for. They don't hook up near as hard as the skat-trak haulers or the extremes, and the paddles also don't last nearly as long. Right now, I'm running the 20-10-10 extreme 10 paddles, and am very pleased with them. They corner decent, and they hook up like nothing else.
  25. If you're gonna hit up the restraunts in town, skip the mexican place and go to Cafe Bahnof, the german restaurant. It is by far some of the best food I've ever had. There's nothing better than having a jaeger schnitzel and washing it down with a farm grade diesel after a long day of riding.
