  1. It all boils down to burn rate...... The speed at which the flame front travels across the piston. You guys that are hell-bent on noticing an improvement from "race gas" on a stock Banshee...try this one on...... Do you think you would see a gain in performance if you retarded your timing 3-4 degrees???????????? Because that is basically what you are doing. The best set-up for reliability AND performance is to match the octane requirements of your engine with a specific type of fuel. No more octane - and no less.
  2. Agreed! As in sex....it`s ALL about timing! THINK ABOUT IT!
  3. Yup...but if you can adjust it without removing the flywheel, I would suggest that route. Either way you decide to do it....be patient !
  4. If you haven`t checked it out.....you should ! www.atvdra.com
  5. DETAILS !!! Where did you get `em and who cut on them? (or should I take a wild guess) um.................SWEET !
  6. Yeah, I was just having some fun with you dude.....didn`t quite know how to answer that one..... ...but based on your ease of aggravation, I have to refer to one of Nyuk`s famous signatures....."F*ck `em if they can`t take a joke" p.s. That question deserves to be in an "FAQ Forum" !
  7. LMFAO...... 11 Ft !
  8. Dude, there is a reason why nobody answered your question....but here is a suggestion.......have someone stand at the point of which you begin your rolling second gear start and then take note at when you JUST get into 6th and the pace it off ! p.s. why is this info so critical to you?
  9. Uphill-downhill-weather conditions-surface type-thumb/twist-day/night-riding/pushing--color of bike....all these factors can play key roles in how many feet you can cover from a 2nd gear rolling start until JUST into 6th.
  10. I drag race....with the O.K.shunal trip on/off the trailer. What are airfilters????? (Clamp-on K&N`s with the backs cut off and replaced with foam)
  11. ScottM, I have to make a revision....There are so many other factors that we are not considering...the UCCR, squish angle, etc... Listen for detonation and increase/decrease octane levels accordingly.
  12. So your buddies 250R receives more power from the cleanliness at which the fuel burns vs. the HP/Torque lost due to the retarding of his timing? Hmmm... Please don`t take this the wrong way, its just a good discussion.
  13. If you use a fuel with more octane than you need, you WILL LOSE POWER due to timing issues! :!:
  14. Yes, in an earlier configuration on my ride, I was at 150 psi and 7 degrees advanced using 93 octane with no detonation....you should be fine. Run it, read your plugs for signs of aluminum specs (see BenBB`s jetting guide for a more specific way of doing this) and have fun!
  15. Think of it like this....you advance the timing/increase comp to make power---you use a higher octane fuel to compensate for the advanced timing (if your at the threshold of your CR on pump fuel)----therefore (and I`ve seen this on a dyno) for every point of octane you are using that you DON`T NEED, your actually retarding the timing and LOSING horsepower. Octane is just to keep detonation (pre-ignition) at bay. Using an octane level that you don`t need is not only a waste of money, but a substantial loss of HP/torque! THX-1138 is right on, the only ways fuel can make you power is: if your not using a high enough octane for you CR/timing in the first place or if you are dealing with oxygenated fuels like the VP MR series. Nitro and alky are cool too!
  16. I say chrome, but, how do you keep a metal coating on something that is meant to flex?
  17. We just broke the 10,000 mark in registered users!
  18. Yea...why would you want to ban THE MOST INTELLIGENT, INSIGHTFUL, and HELPFULL member of this forum?
  19. Well...I was told by a VERY respectable engine builder on this site...(to whom I won`t mention..BC) that a great deal of effort goes in to the proper squish tolerances inside the dome of the head. And that last thing you want going on is your fuel mixture be danced and swirled around within the squish area. I too fell for the "turbo" gimmick and purchased a set. Now don`t get me wrong...Trinity makes a great head and the turbo domes shouldn`t actually hurt purformance (noticeably anyway) but it doesn`t help either......as I understand it.
  20. I am also running GRR`s twin 38mm Mikuni set-up. May be a little overkill, but all you really lose with an oversized carb is low-end throttle response...which is not necessary when it is a drag machine. Plus you`ll never have to sell these and buy bigger ones!!! I
  21. Only one Banshee....but TWO four strokes...sshhhhh...they`re the Bomb!
