hot rods or vito's 4mm 115mm crank
trickedcarbine replied to OFB35's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
K, there are gonna be alot of opinions on this so here is my take. The one brand every one runs to is hot rods, for what reason i don't know. All the SERIOUS banshees that i personally know of seem to eventually need EXPENSIVE repair after the H.R. crank fails after a couple of abusive seasaons at best. Nothing against their product, but like loco said, with a banshee it's not if it fails, but when. I ran a stock stroke H.R. crank for more then a few seasons, but once I got serious about porting, big carbs, etc. It failed even with new bearings. The only major differences you will see in the cranks aside from quality in craftsmanship, will be whether it is rebuildable or not, and if it is a forged unit or not. Now a forged crankworks or twister will definitely out last any Vitos or Hot Rods unit, but you better be ready to shell out the big bucks wich might not be worth it for your budget or particular build. There is another option for the 4 mil guys though, and it is Weiseco. These things are tough! The shop that did my porting is just a grass roots mom and pop shop but his banshees are quick and RELIABLE. He swears that the Weiseco is tougher due to the fact that it isnt a rebuildable base, but how practical is it to rebuild a 4 mil crank any way. After rebuilding my bike with the weiseco, it almost feels smoother then the stock stroke H.R. crank. I can't fully attest to the reliability of the weiseco for my build yet, because the build is still fresh, and is in a fully CRYO TREATED MOTOR, wich helps out a bit as well. -
A new idea for Banshee porting
trickedcarbine replied to SLORYDER's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Worm holes, boost ports, auxillary ports, whatever you call them, they do make a difference. The local shop I work with for my porting shows no gains on a flow bench and no real peak power increases, however when coupled a larger exhaust port there are decent gains to be had over using one with out the other. In testing the real gains are in a more linear or broad power band wich comes on sooner and lasts longer and a noticable throttle response is a huge bonus. -
Shearer 2 into 1 Dune Pipe
trickedcarbine replied to smkmupbanshee's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Well , this has me kinda wondering what the final outcome will be. Normally the 2-1 pipe is a bad rep, but i just dont think there has been any one to properly design one and back it with real r&d. Just look at snowmobiles. Those machines are a hell of alot more powerfull then ours and many of them run a multiple cylinder in to one expansion style exhaust. My buddy rob just went to kennedy yesterday to pick up a shearer for his blaster and the guy just laughed when my buddy told him about my bike is running rockets and says that the only way to make power is with the shearers. Problem is that any one i have known to deal with kennedy, they have all been convinced that the only thing that matters with a pipe is peak power numbers on a dyno. Now, this 2-1 pipe that he is working with shearer on seems to be a different story. I would love to see the day a 2 stroke pipe is developed to make power from bottom up. But as far as i'm concerned that 2-1 isn't gonna put out what my rockets do, and the regular in frames wont make as broad of a range as the rockets. But my motor comes back from cryo at 300 below and im gonna see if we cant get all three on the dyno back to back on my motor. -
umm lets see some of them flattrack shees

Hey loco can we get this pinned? -
Lookin for tt tires huh motodrummer? Thought you said you were done for a while. I have been there, it is just part of owning a banshee. I wanna run the indoor track at kart to kart, maybe the waterford track. We'll see though. The new resturaunt build is coming on so time may be tight.

new or old rockets, how to tell?
trickedcarbine replied to bansheejoel's topic in General Banshee Discussion
There were some shitty pipes put in the mix because the original owner had farmed out work, then eventually sold off the company. There is currently a BRAND NEW owner, but they are working out a deal to get new dies for stamping, and will be producing new pipes. From what dave at rocket has told me many of the remaining pipes they have are just reworked or fixed pipes that the last owner had sort of hacked. Just find a set that fits right, and has clean welds, and buy that shit! You will never regret it. Also the main difference with the new owner is that the head pipe to stinger flange is changed so that any standard banshee clamp will work. -
I just got a set of rockets, holy hell! They pull better then t5 pipes from down low, and yank my arms like a cpi up top. They'll really make that cub shine on the oval and might even make up a little bit for the cub's notorious lacking bottom end. Yes the rockets are far and few RIGHT NOW, but there is a new owner currently setting up a new deal for fresh stampings. So hang om with the t5's, and wait to see what happpens with new rockets.

AMA ICE RACING IN WHITE LAKE MICHIGAN
trickedcarbine replied to trickedcarbine's topic in Riding and Events Forum
I just burned the left piston up in my bike on Saturday. I got every thing ordered, so hopefully itll be back together Friday. -
Yo Brook, I just went through my second clutch on the ice. I just don't think people realize what a shee on studs will do to a clutch. Any way I would either buy the F.A.S.T. clutch or the one I run is the Driveline Performance Heavy duty unit wich is very similar to the F.A.S.T. clutch. But the real kicker is the Driveline Performance sling shot style lock up. Man that thing is titties. It only runs $219 and it is a huge difference. You will definitely notice alot less slipage, but be careful on the quick down shifts in to the turns because it can be hard on the motor under lock up. I finally ponied up for the lock up and I'm pumped about the results. FYI, You fucking guys put a real nice reverse groove on our practice track! I went to ride Saturday, but some ice fisherman popped a few holes and it just flooded your 12 inch ruts. But it's nice and smooth now! Brett

You willing to sell the tranny and fork set up out of it.?

AMA ICE RACING IN WHITE LAKE MICHIGAN
trickedcarbine replied to trickedcarbine's topic in Riding and Events Forum
Yea, the actual race is oval track. But there are nice drag lanes right now. There was a guy with an a&s built bike that showed up with tyson racing and that 10mm cub went 98mph on unplowed slush, and did it completely side ways. It was that silver WW2 bomber painted bike with a red frame. Definitely come check out the lake on any weekend and run your bike with picks or chisels. It's a good time! -
here is that link to a good cheap set up http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-Banshee-YFZ450-RAPTOR-rear-tires-rim-CHENG-SHIN_W0QQitemZ290404201765QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_ATV_Parts_Accessories?hash=item439d707525

Definitely run the 1 inch. I just watched 2 guys butcher their cross country tires with 1/2 inch studs and they are all over the track . that was one expensive mistake, and it was the guy at the dealer who steered them toward trying to use their good tires. Now when they yank the studs out the tires will disinigrate in the trails. There is a set of c826 cheng shin tires on ebay for cheap and they aren't studded yet. don't worry about the tread being only 50%, you're riding on studs not tread so who cares. they will take 440 each or 880 in each rear if you want two per lug. my shee is sweet with the 440 though. Just make sure you run the 1 inch, there are good deals on the 1000 ct stud packs if you look.

Nope. Not afraid to get my ass handed to me. No real racer should be. It's just part of racing, you need to be a little more humble and realize that there is always some one faster. It may or may not be me, but I don"t give a shit either way. Just glad your on a shee. Do the HQ a favor, clean up your mouth and your attitude before you even dare represent us. Quit acting 12 and grow up!

AMA ICE RACING IN WHITE LAKE MICHIGAN
trickedcarbine replied to trickedcarbine's topic in Riding and Events Forum
yo brooke, as of today there should be a track the same size made up but no garuntees. I will try to get my buddy to come plow it if the guy that normally does it won't. We will be going out this sunday till the sun starts to set . I'm sorry I didn't get back with ya earlier. All my riding has to be very spontanius due to lack of time and scheduling. However my the resturaunt just got toasted by a fire so I guess I'll have some spare time to rip the lakes more now huh? Brett -
Hey guys, It's not posted on the d-14 schedule but it is going down again this year. I believe registration is at 9 AM and open practice till 11 AM when racing begins. Take M-59 to Ormond road and go till you see the Inn and a shit load of fun ice rides every where you'll know you're there. I'll update info later Brett

How can I get my Banshee to turn Left better?
trickedcarbine replied to motodrumer58's topic in Flat Track/TT
No on the lowering kit, just some +2 +1 armadillo A-arms with the blaster shocks set on the softer side, but the front still sits higher wich is crucial to getting that rear to hook up. It's getting colder again so we'll have to ride. pm me a number to reach you at and once the lakes are ready again I'll give ya a call. -
Not feelin' put down, but when I went out to oxford michigan with my buddy and picked these things up for his bike, I asked if these were drag like a cub and the guy told me it's called a drag port but not quite as extreme as a cub, and actually compared it to some heavier dune ports. I rode a 392 cub and it has no bottom compared to the bike I helped my friend put together, but the cub definitely pulls a bit harder albeit the cub had 35's on it and the vitos only had some 28's on it. I just know that my sleeved stock jugs pull hard in trails, but that vito's stealth set up gets me all the time.

How can I get my Banshee to turn Left better?
trickedcarbine replied to motodrumer58's topic in Flat Track/TT
Well motodrummer, before it warmed up I turned about 125 laps of testing different stuff out. That Blaster and R6 set up is amazing considering the price and the fact that I can only tell very slight difference between the blaster shocks and a custom afco setup I rode on white lake last year. For LEFT ONLY circle racing you can get much more agressive on the dial in. Try indexing all of your studs on the bike so that the slot is going from about 10 o'clock to about 4 o'clock when looking down at the top of the tire. Not sure what your front shocks are set at but try putting the right front about 1 or 2 clicks firmer. Last but not least run the right tires at about 1-2 psi over the left side. Don't worry about going over the max operating pressure, we're just running ice not trails. once you get these adjustments down, get the sway bar as stiff as it can go with out pushing straight through the turns. SWAY BAR LAST! make sure every thing else is prime, then enhance it with the bar. -
There was just a thread about their cylinders about a week ago and NO THESE ARE NOT A STRICT DRAG CYLINDER. Vito's actually has several types of porting for these cylinders, you just have to have them ordered to your specs. There is a bike I helped a buddy put together that runs their big block cylinders and he called and had them run a more mild port on them after casting and that thing out runs my old school sleeves in the woods every time!

There is actually a member on our forums that makes these and they look awsome. here is the link to a thread he has pictures on, just scroll down and you'll see who it is. just drop him a pm and see whats up. brett

Vito's Big Bore kits worth the time and $$$?
trickedcarbine replied to 02BansheeShooter's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yeah LiftedT4r those are the stealth jugs, however the specific one you selected is their drag port. More like a dune port in my opinion because they try to appease to to broad of a customer. For instance the guy that wants a full drag port and comes back because he cant just roll in to a wheelie in first gear anymore!! Any way, they are available for several strokes and port styles and all for around the same price. The only thing remotely close to the cubs on these is their tripple exhaust, thats it. VITO'S actually markets cub cylinders, and I can assure you that they wouldn't do it if they had their own copy. They only market them to the true drag guys and duners, wich in michigan there aren't as many as you'd think. That is why they developed the new jug and they have customers test these things in the trails and they work. I was gonna run them on a new build but ESR offered me a sick deal on their NEW powervalve jug. http://www.eddie-sanders-racing.com/oscmax/popup_image.php?pID=74&type=jpg Looks like I'll be running a shit load of stickers on my ice bike. -
Oh, for the record........who the fuck cares if ya get beat by a zilla, they only needed an extra 150cc of motor. stock to stock, the zilla goes out the hole but if you don't pussy foot around on the shifting and wind 'er out, the shee will reel it in 4-6. just hope the race is long enough to get out of the low gears on the shee.

Here is the apples to apples and oranges to oranges. BOTH machines are dressed with exhaust, intake, and equel tire, oh and lots of super cool stickers.
