  1. why----is the stock carb fairy going to come and get me or-----did he just do that right now?
  2. I just wonder about air velocity. You want good speed through the carbs to pull the fuel. the slower the air, the higher you have to jet. When we build a bike for low end power we look for the smallest useable carb. The air velocity is good on the bottom but the size is restrictive for top end use ( this is why single carbs are good for trails). so common understanding is the larger you go the more top end you'll have but the less bottom end, to a point, past that and you lose it all. now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying your builder is wrong, it's just------those are really big carbs!
  3. your stock carbs are only good up to 280-300 with the stock needle. a little more with after market needles, right now you could put 500 and it would still be lean. Get some larger carbs and you'll be ok. on another note, i thought dyna's wouldn't work with after market coils. how long have you ran the two together?
  4. I understand what he is saying, My question is, where does this extra surface area come from?
  5. Jeff, you say that the plates and the steels that you use are wider than stock. Where does the extra width come from? Do you gain the extra width from not using the cushions? Why don't you post a pic, showing the difference between your set-up and the stock set-up. I just don't understand how you can have a wider clutch plate without increasing the size of the basket.
  6. those are mikuni carbs. try up two steps on the pilot and about 350-370 on the mains.
  7. 39's holy crap! you run'n a snowmobile motor!
  8. ya, there is a big difference in the settings. I got mine from trinty, they take out the dyna curves and put in their own. the cdi box is made to work with stock coil and wires. when i got mine i was running b9es ad no load caps, that didn't work, put the stock stuff back on and now no problem. as far as the timing plate, i left mine on, set to zero. I adjust my timing with the box now.
  9. the problem is that it never gives you trouble in your garage. but whatever, I don't ride with you.
  10. upgrade your reeds while your at it to get the full benfit of your new carbs.
  11. you can get around the ignition issuses by upgrading you cdi box. I run an advanced timing curve and when the nos is activated the cdi switches to a stock curve. ran it all summer like that with zero problems.
  12. I like my dana fs. then you just program it the way you like it.
  13. It has a lot of safety switches that go bad and cause you to chase ghost. makes your carbs look ugly, added weight, makes your teeth go bad, and tells everyone that you're to stupid to take off the parking brake before you go riding. thats just off the top of my head, I could come up with more if you would like.
  14. screwed up switch on the clutch that is part of the tors. disconnect the tors and it will work fine.
  15. you need a lot of motor to warrent a 6" swinger. 80 plus I would say. get a 4" you'll like it more.
  16. He woke up and realize he was selling 5000 bucks in motor for 2800. He says deals off! 2 late guys!
  17. who says I'm not a salesman at a pawn shop.
  18. won't your dirtbagbike's head fit?
  19. That's it, my best friend has lost his mind. Here is what we have- K&T 420 long rod. This motor would cost anyone over three grand to build out of their cylinders and cases. He wants 2800 bucks for everything here, including the stator cover not pictured. The motor is a 66mm piston with a 7mm stroker, 5mm long rod crank, the transmission has the shift star mod for easier shifting under power. At the time of building the K&T custom head and lock-out clutch was installed. Two weeks ago this motor won the Twin Falls county annual grass drags ( it's very, very fast. if you can't ride worth a crap- let this one go--all it will get you is a lot of hospital food!) but I don't think you get the trophy. The motor comes with two sets of domes (motor tests 155 lbs. psi at 4000 ft.) and a billet timing plate (not that cheap cast timing plate that ricky stator sends). I looked through the intake and the exhaust ports, the pistons look emaculate, almost can't tell that they have been run. I fully expect my buddy to wake up and realize what he asked me to do and to tell me to pull this down as quickly as possible. If somebody tells me they want it and sends me the money, I will make sure this motor is on its way to you.
  20. 54 horses, hell, thats run'n good. leave it alone or one day you'll wake up and realize you just sold a 15,000 dollar banshee for three thousand.
  21. man, I hate to rub salt, but CPI makes pipes too.
  22. go up one step, you'll be fine.
  23. if you have a ton of fuel in one side it won't fire. could be one carb has a stuck float.
  24. someone make it stop!
  25. do some clutch work, real tall gearing will smoke your plates.
