I purchased Shearer pipes after not getting any replies back about when Rockets would be available. I'm glad I got dicked around!!! I think Shearers are better pipes anyways. I had to convince myself that Rockets looked nice. The more I looked at them the more I thought to myself, damn these are some butt ugly ass pipes!!!

I ran K&N pods on my stock carbs for almost two years with no problems. I am now running pods on 28mm pwk carbs. I have never had a problem with pods falling off. I love the pods, I prefer to run them over any other setup!!! Of course I am very mindfull of where the Banshee goes! When first running pods I gave my Banshee a nice drink a couple of times. Since rebuilding last year I am very careful not to ride in too much H2O. If I was to do a different setup I would go with the Pro Design or equivalent K&N conversion for the stock air box. That way you can ride with the airbix lid on or off. Personally my Banshee does not go in very much mud or water as it is generally used to rip up old railroad beds and fireroads. I have a four stroke for playing in the mud and water!

Buy a set of YFZ450 shocks off ebay for around $200. If you want to play with your shocks the ones that come on the 450's are completely adjustable. Preload, compression and rebound. When I put the shocks on my Banshee I adjusted the preload so I have a nice amount of sag in my front shocks. These shocks are way better than the stock Banshee shocks. The only thing I had to do was take my dremel and remove some of the steel around the upper front shock mounts in the front. Mind you that I did this with a freshly powder coated frame so I was careful not to make this noticeable. Cant even tell that I did this. Definitly a good upgrade for the $$$. I have seen them go for as cheap as $150 and for more than $300. Just be patient!!!

Just incase anyone is interested, YFZ450 twin piston front calipers fit on the Banshee/Warrior spindles. I will post some pics later today when I get home! I have not had a chance to try endo's yet but I will try and get some pics!!! I have a buddy with a Gas Gas 300 and I have always been jealous of his Brembo's up front! The Brembo calipers are beautiful if anyone has had a chance to check them out!!! After upgrading to front 450 shocks I thought why not the calipers too? I was under the impression I would have to put the 450 spindles on my a-arms which I proved will work but the ball joints might not last too long . After I got my calipers off ebay I figured it might be a Winter project but I was curious to see how close the calipers were to mounting on the Banshee spindles and to my surprise they fit right on there! Cheap brake upgrade!

I am waiting for a set of YFZ450 calipers and spindles that I purchased off of ebay recently to arrive and I am going to attempt to upgrade the front of my Banshee. My Banshee will have a hybrid front end as I am going to use YFZ450 calipers and spindles and I am going to purchase some Raptor front hubs and rotors and I already have YFZ450 front shocks and +2+1" a-arms. I know that I will only be able to use Raptor or YFZ450 hubs on the 450 spindles but what I am not sure is if the Raptor and YZF rotors are the same size. I trust they are close enough or I will have to use YFZ rotors which is the least of my worries! My main concern is the difference between the Banshee and YFZ spindles. I hope I do not run into any issues with the YFZ spindles on my Banshee a-arms. I do not believe that the drill hole for the tie rod ends or the ball joints are any different between the YFZ and Banshee spindle. If someone can confirm this for me that would be great!!! I have found some posts regarding Raptor spindles on Banshee a-arms but I have not seen anything about putting the YFZ calipers and spindles on the Banshee. I am confident that this will work but I do not know why I have yet to hear of anyone else doing this especially since the YFZ has been around for 3 releases now. Does anyone know of anybody that has done this upgrade. I would like to talk to someone who has been through this or knows someone who tried this as it might save me some time and money!!!!! Many thanks fellow Banshee peops!!!

Raptor plastics look butt!

If I was to choose an all around decent pipe I would go with either the Fatty's or the ProCircuit's. I have never owned Fatty's but I have ridden the crap out of PC's and I thought they were a great pipe! Just my opinion though!

Sounds like your voltage regulator is not wired to your harness correctly! There is a blue wire for your taillight coming out of the harness I believe and a blue wire coming off of the voltage regulator be sure the blue wire coming from your voltage regulator is not connected to the tailights blue wire. Take a look at the schematic and you will see. The one time I did not have my volage regulator hooked up I blew through two sets of bulbs before I realized it was my voltage regulator.

6-ply razr's seemed to always wear really well! I have been running on 1 set of 20x11x9 6 ply rears for 1.5 years and no complaints! These tires see a lot of road and old railroad bed riding and I am impressed at the durability riding on the rocky railroad beds but they have worn very nicely on the roads! I also liked the 21x7x10 razr 2 6-ply fronts! Good tires!!! I recently just picked up a set of 21x7x10 Holeshot XCR's, I like the looks of the tire but I have not ridden on them yet! I am probably going to purchase the 20x11x9 XCR rears but like I said I have had no probs with the Razr's!!!!! I purchased the 6-ply tires to avoid flats far away from home and I have not been disappointed! I have no opinion on the Kenda tires as i have yet to ride on them or hear anyone elses opinion.

Size of footpeg bolt and who carrys helicoil?
sj820 replied to rzcolobanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I believe the thread and pitch size is M10 with a 1.25 pitch. I went online and found the kit. They are all over the place! The kit comes with the helicoils, tap and helicoil inserter but I had to buy a 13/32 drill bit. Since I put the helicoils in my frame I have not had any problems! For some reason the mild steel that Yamaha uses is very soft and strips easily when overtorqing! I have also seen problems with the footpegs bending down on the stock frames! All I have to say is no fat chicks!!!! One of my friends permanently welded Raptor pegs to his Banshee! While they look stupid they are much better than the stock pegs! -
Ok I take back post from earlier! My friend put all black plastic on his Banshee and a black IMS tank and the bike actually looks pretty good!!!! I still would have purchased a Clarke tank over the IMS though. If your still looking for some pics I will take some this weekend when we ride! I am just finishing up my bike and he finished his this past week! I have missed like a month of beautiful riding where I am due to the fact that I am on co-op for 40hrs a week plus go taking part-time classes at the college I am on co-op through so it has been a busy Spring. I just finished up classes last week and am ready to rock'em and roll'em! I will get some pics posted of the IMS tank after this weekend!

Jesus thats way more over-rev than the rockets! So I guess that answers the question as to which pipe produces more hp! Now the Rockets may give you better all around performance but for ass stomping hp you all know what to go with! Shearer pipes look fine as a mutha too!

You need equipment brother! Like a jig, a tubing bender, a tubing notcher, a welder and material. Plus other crap! You might as well purchase them outright!!! With the time and $ that you spend on tryig to make one set of arms you might as well purchase a new set that comes ready to bolt on! Not saying its impossible even I contemplated this a few years ago!! Once you have a jig its fairly simple to just weld up arms all day long!! There should be a return on your investment though such as profit from selling a shit-load of these things for like $200 apiece! So if you do ever complete a set make a bunch so you can sell for cheap and bring the aftermarket ATV industry to its knees!!!!! Having to spend 4-700 dollars on a set of arms is a joke!!! This is why I originally considered making my own but shit on it! I will just bend over for the aftermarket distributors and bitch about it afterwards!!!! If I had the time it would be one thing but I did not set out in life to make a-arms for four-wheelers! The world is going to need me someday!
-
I had some jackass quote me like $375 for my frame and $100 for my swingarm and carrier. This was for just black. I hung up! I got the frame, swingarm, carrier, rotor and sprocket hubs done for $225. This was acceptable!
-
This is on aftermarket swing arms! Not stock ones! Genreally good aftermarket swing arms come with larger ball joints than what the stock Banshee spindles are drilled for. I purchased a set of A-Arms a year ago and I had to have the stock spindles reamed with a 1/2-3/4 inch tapered reamer. Unfortunately finding replacement ball joints for these A-Arms can be time consuming! The ball joints that come on most popular aftermarket arms have a 16mm shaft that threads into the end of both the upper and lower a-arm. The ball joints I have on my arms have a 14mm shaft I believe. I think there was a VW Transporter or some peice of crap that used these ball joints and I was just wondering if anyone knew exactly what vehicle this was. It does not matter anymore beause I found the ball joints that I needed! Izzy at Burgards in PA sells these ball joints so I know where to get them now. Unfortunately if I knew what VW vehicle they came off of I could get them for like $5 bucks apiece instead of $25 apiece! Bullshit!!!! These are just peice of shit ball joints but these ATV part distributors rob the crap out of the riders for profit! There is no reason why each ball joint costs $25 apiece! One more thing that has pissed me off this past week! I am only 25 and I am preparing myself for the big one(heart attack) already!!!!! About ready to start the revolution over here!!!

The Shearers are awesome pipes! I would definitly recommend a set! THey will definitly wake your motor up but to realize the full potential of the pipes you might want to consider porting! Advance your timing by getting some kind of degree key or adjustable timing plate and get a NOSS head! Plus a bunch of other shit too! Get the credit card out!!!!!!!

1.5 hrs sounds about right! Just make sure to lightly grease the o-rings before placing them in the groves and be carefull you are not pinching any of the large o-rings when placing the lower half of the head on the jugs! If I recall correctly it is fairly easy not to notice part of a ring that came out of the groove and torqing the head down and then being f'ed! Good luck! You shouldn't have any probs. You might want to go to your local auto parts store and try to match the radiator hose that goes from the head to the impellor with a J-bend peice that is slightly longer because the head is just a bit higher than the stock. You can use the stock radiator hose if you are in a hurry though!

This is fucked youll like this! One time I was riding in the winter with a very old chain! This is when I was younger and had to rely on no income to support my riding habits! It was in the middle of winter and I had a very crappy chain, probably the original chain that came on my '92 Honda 250x! Anyways the chain somehow broke in four places at the same time! Yes 4 places! So being the cheap fucker that I am I happend to have two 520 master links lying around and went and purchased two more with some $ I borrowed from my old man! So yes I had four master links in different spots on my chain and had absolutely no problems!!!!! Now that I have a job I buy the cheap $20 vagina(Regina) or any other manufacturer that produces 520 link motorcycle chains that can be found anywhere! Just dont look at any ATV retail stores! As soon as you say that the chain is for an ATV they have to add $10 to the final price or try to sell you some o-ring/X-ring chain that is designed to be used on machines using Pratt and Whitneys on the back! HA HA! Funny Funny!..........Shit aint funny mutha f#cka!!!

That would be interesting if Honda switched to a Yamaha spline pattern! Please keep us informed as to whether or not there are newer Rear Hubs for the Hondas that fit Yamaha splines! Maybe Honda realizes that Yamaha has the biggest niche now in the sport quad industry and conformed to Yamaha's ways instead of the the industry trying to follow Honda! Its crazy to see the changes in the big bike corporations these days! One must ask themselves why didn't some of these bikes like the 450s come out 10 years ago? I swear the Honda 250r was the doom of the sport ATV industry back in the 90's! It was such a good bike that development on all other bikes went dead for almost 15 years!!!! The street bike industry has enjoyed unparalleled advances in technology while the atv industry has been stuck in the dark ages!!!! I am surprised that we have hydraulic brakes on ATV's for christ sakes! Well the atv industry seems to have come around and lets hope that she keeps on truckin! Just a little venting today!!!

Thats bull, you can advance or retard your timing all you want! You are just giving up top or bottem end respectively! I have known people that ride for hours straight that have advanced their timing and their motors didn't shit to bed! Stupid dealership people act like they know everything becasue they work in a cycle joint but
-
I dont think that works unless the splines on either the 400ex hubs or yamaha axles are really worn! Not 100% sure but I know I have tried in the past as well as a number of other people! I tried putting 250x hubs on a Warrior when I was a kid and if I recall correctly they didn't fit! Then when I was a little older say 4-5 years ago one of my friends asked if he could try putting 400ex hubs on his Banshee and it didn't work! Too many years in between trying thats why you have to try every couple of years! You never know maybe this time they will fit!

Never mind, I found a place in England that has some fo the former Alba bumbers. Not worth it! I bought one of the AC racing bumpers from some guy in PA. I paid $60 and had it in 2 days! I like the redesign of the new AC bumpers. The first time I saw the new design I though it looked ass but the way the bumber is tilted down and swept back looks dope!!!! I am happy!

Not really hip to the aftermarket tanks. If I was going to by one it would be a Clarke. My friend just bought his second IMS tank and I asked him if he was retarded? Becuase the tank makes the bike look like shit! No offense to those out there that have spent the insane amount of loot to make thir bike look how it does! Makes my bike look way better though! Personnaly I ride where I live and although I frequently pass through 3 different counties out riding I have found that if I bring enough oil for at least 2 gallons of gas I am ok to get home! I suppose that if I was still X-country racing or preparing for one of the Baja races I would purchase a Clarke tank. I am bored here at work so my opinion has been submitted.
