  1. I have a very similar experience and have no idea yet what is going on. I bought my banshee last summer and it was all stock except for sniper pipes. The jetting was spot on when I got it and I rode it all summer. In september my buddy took it for a ride and brought it back 10 mins later running on just the left cylinder. I took it home and there was no compression on the right side so I tore it apart and the rings were melted into the piston and the cylinder was grooved, left side was still clean. I figured he just heated it up too much and bought some Vito's Super Stock pistons .060 over with the jet kit and got a local machine shop to bore and hone the cylinders. I broke the bike in and constantly checked the jetting with new sets of plugs, dark brown colour. I did a compression check on it a week ago and left was 120 and right was 90. Baffled, I figured ill do I full rebuild on it this time so I went out for one last ride yesterday and when I was just coasting down a hill, it locked up and died instantly. Tore it apart at home and the right piston rings were melted again and got stuck in one of the ports and the cylinder is grooved again, this time the left side piston skirt had started to wear in one spot against the cylinder wall. Rod and crank bearings are fine, carbs are in sync and jetted properly. Im thinking maybe a crank seal but I don't have any experience with banshees. I noticed the lower reeds on both cages arent quite closing all the way aswell, Im pretty sure this isn't normal. Don't mean to hijack your thread, just didnt want to start another one thats exactly the same.
  2. thanks you to everyone for posting replies to this topic and for even caring to do so. i only hope that i might get my quad back cause i miss it more the anything right now. i spent all my money on it and i have none at the moment, it was my way of relieving my stress and having fun and i rode the thing just about every day. anyways, thanks again for posting. Darren
  3. it could have been anyone because people drive by on my street all day and we have the garage doors open on the weekends cause we are building motors and working on my dads car. i brought it to a show and shine a while ago too so anyone couldve just asked aroun for where i live and came over during the night. thieving bastards, i dont think ill have a quad for a long while, im saving for a car right now. Darren
  4. give me your e-mail and ill send a bunch of pics to you. its got a billet throttle cap, key is mounted under sear, polished handle bar clamps, black and yellow with flames. the airbox lid is off and the right front tire was flat before they took it. my e-mail is [email protected]
  5. Well, i went outside tuesday morning about 6:00am to find that my garage had been broken into and my banshee was gone . The bastards opened the man door with a crow bar and then just loaded it into a truck i guess and then took off, all while i was sleeping . i didnt eve hear a thing, goddamn those thieving bastards , they should be killed. i payed $5200 Canadian just for the bike and i had no insurance on it because i couldn't afford it right now. well i am out that much money and a bike to ride, i dont think i will be getting one too soon either. i only hope that maybe the cops will find it but the chances are slim to none and i accept that. Darren
  6. oh. its illegal to run them on the roads, dont get me wrong but you know, the fuzz can't be everywhere at once. plus all i have to do if they come is outrun the slowest guy thats riding with us. lol, just kidding. nah, we ride the trails to school and cut across the highway once, the principal doesnt care that we run them to school, except when we ran them down the highway but it wasnt for a long time. we just had a barbeque at school for the end of the year type thing and there was a show and shine there with me and all my friend's quads. my friend with the dvx400 (yes it is an arctic cat) rides with me all the time and he used to have a honda 250ex when i had my blaster. those dvx's are pretty rare but i love the looks of them, ill post a pic some time of his quad when i get one. all the guys i ride with have: yamaha 04 le raptor (white/red) yamaha 02 raptor (blue) yamaha 02 raptor(another one) (blue) arctic cat 05 dvx 400 (red) polaris 50th annaversary predator (white/black) polaris 04 predator (grey) yamaha 03 le banshee (black/red) yamaha 01 banshee (blue) suzuki 02 z400 (white) kawasaki 04 kfx400 i still cant figure out how to post pictures. can anyone post for me?
  7. yeah i wish i had a video camera but it was during lunch at school cause we all rode to school. we did it down the highway and then rode back. ill try to get some videos some time for you guys. i got a video of a short wheelie i did down the road and ill try to post it later aong with my friend's 6 gear burnout on his 1987 PE175 dirtbike.
  8. yeah i wish i had a video camera but it was during lunch at school cause we all rode to school. we did it down the highway and then rode back. ill try to get some videos some time for you guys.
  9. my friend has a 04 le raptor with 22" mudlites and it spins them fine. they are a light tire though so i guess it would be easier. it hooks up like mad though, good tires on all surfaces. even pavement
  10. i raced my friends today, 2 raptors, a predator, a z400, and a dvx400 all at the same time and i smashed them all. it was on pavement and i beat the pred by about 30ft and it was in second. it was down a road and we raced about 1/4 mile or so, we were all tapped out about half way or sooner. i won, the pred second, a 04 le raptor was 3rd, a 2002 raptor 4th and the 2 400's were about equal. my banshee has stock tires, 1/16th inch tread left lol, a k&n air filter, boyesen reeds, airbox lid removed, a 15 tooth sprocket up front and 260 main jets. both raptors were piped and the 04 le had 22 inch tall mudlites along with other non power mods, the pred is a 50th annaversary white/black pred with pipe, silencer, and wutever else they come with, the z400 was piped and the dvx was piped. i smashed all them off the line and just kept pulling away very quickly through every gear. after we tapped out, i was about the same as the pred, maybe like 1mph faster and the raptors were falling back very slowly and the two 400's were off in the distance behind us lol. it was a lot of fun though since my buddies with the raptors had raced and smashed two banshees not 10 minutes before this race. one was an 03 le red/black completely stock gears and all and the other was piped, reeds, and bored but the guy had a 13 tooth sprocket up front so he topped at like 110kph and my banshee tops at about 130 - 135kph. about 80mph.
  11. smoother shifting is a lot better but i have had no problem with finding neutral when the bike is running.
  12. re-mount resivoir to the front of the bike under the front hood piece and run lines over the handlebar brace on the fram and down behind the transmission where the fuel overflow lines go. this should fix the problem, worked for me
  13. i use the amsoil hp-injector and i have had no problems with it, the bike runs perfectly and it doesnt cost much either.
  14. yeah i agree too, the only mod i have right now that requires re-jetting is a k&n air filter and i am running 240 mains and i did i plug chop and its as close to perfect as it can get.
  15. i was thinking of just making a boost bottle on my own but then i said the hell with it and pulled the buffing wheel out and polished the stock crossover tube like crome.
  16. dont all banshees come stocl with aluminum wheels or just the LE versions because mine came with aluminum wheels stock.
  17. i know that one of the hoses runs from the top of the rad to the bottom of the overflow tank and one from the top of the overflow tank and to wherever you want your overflow to go, it stays open, doesnt connect to anything. I think another comes off the water pump side of the case and goes to a T but im not sure where else, sorry.
  18. yes this would probably be from it leaking out the tube. the best way to find out if your head gastket is leaking is take the rad cap off when the bike is cold and rev the motor up, some coolant may spit out from vibration but as long as it is not spraying out then you are fine.
  19. how would that work cause you main jet is in the bottom of the carb not the top.
  20. the link to wut i was talking about it right here
  21. i had the exact same problem with my stock banshee, it leaks out of the overflow tube that comes off the top of the overflow tank and the line runs right out by the pipes abd drips on them. This happens because there is not enough of a raise and then drop in the line to keep the coolant in the bottle when the bike is bouncing around or when you pull wheelies. If you relocate the bottle behind the front bumper right under the 'hood' of the banshee then run the line up over the gas tank and then down in between the carbs and in between the tranny and swingarm where your fuel overflow tubes run out then the problem should be solved. I did this whole process and it fixed my problem. You will have to take both coolant lines running to the coolant overflow bottle completely off the bike and re-rout them. I had to cut quite a bit off the one that runs from the rad because there is less distance for it to travel. You can just use tie wraps to hold the bottle on too, i got this process from a forum a while ago but i forget what it was called but it works perfect, no problems since. really hope this helps, Darren
  22. i would also have to say that the raptor is not a very good looking quad and anyone who would want a banshee 'best quad ever' to look like a craptor then they should not own a banshee , why buy one quad and make it look like another? buy a craptor if you want one. to me, the banshee is the best looking quad ever made and it is the most unique performing and looking quad. i love banshees and i say keep them the same unless you get full bores or shave the fenders. and one more remark on the craptor plastics for the banshee, has anyone noticed the very front looks like a duckbill platypus beak. lol
  23. i completely agree, i hate the iron cross bumpers and they are really expensive i think. My favorite bumper on a banshee is the ac bumber that loco had on hid shee, they look awsome and i may get one in the near future.
  24. stclark said that the pipes will not make a 'noticable' speed difference meaning that it may make you go a little faster but not enough to really make much of a difference.
