Not getting fuel to the cylinders?
dajogejr replied to hyperlite33's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Actually...that's about right for being that high up. Stock near sea level is 130, give or take. You should pick up a cool head with 19cc domes or cut .030 off the stock head to gain some lost performance from that high of an altitude... It would be a great idea to completely clean out the carbs, especially since it's been sitting a while...but, try turning the air screws all the way till their lightly seated. Count how many turns on each. I would also ditch the gas and get fresh gas and two fresh spark plugs, too. Then, back each one out 1/2 turn...see if that gets any better.... Here's a chart from Dave Noss, who makes the Noss Cool head. It's an estimate, but...as said, you're not too far off. Sea Level 1000' 2000' 3000' 4000' 5000' 18cc 197 178 171 170 165 145 19cc 183 167 160 158 152 137 20cc 169 156 149 146 140 129 21cc 156 145 138 134 128 121 stock 130 125 118 112 106 100 -
cascade used to sell the 38 for the cub/stroker kits....410 cc and bigger, however....I can't find it on their site. I hear ya, don't fix if it ain't broke...

Nice vid...no helmet, no shoes...and spinners. The best thing he could do is 12 o'clock that thing, and land on his hard....doubt it'd do any good...though... This is text book case of "Why I wish my parent's didn't do all those drugs" Syndrome... Prime example.

WITH A PASSENGER....

Congrats on the purchase...you've come to the right spot. First thing to do is buy the bible...more commonly known as a clymer maual! Second, pull the carbs apart, one at a time so you don't mix parts...and clean them..top to bottom, inside out. Fresh gas, fresh oil, fresh spark plugs...and clean/oil the air filter if it needs it. That's a good start. I'd do a compression check as well. Cutting out can be carbs or electrical. Get the maintenance done...and eliminate the carbs. Also, when you pull the carbs apart, note what size jets are in there for reference.... Good luck, welcome aboard....

Got it...but the normal jetting on that...stock porting, would be a 270 to 290 main.... Of course, the porting changes things, but...it's not a drag port. However....as I'm sure you know, Wes...some porting can actually take smaller jets because it pulls fuel/air more efficiently out of a smaller jet than stock porting does. But...as said, you're definately safe with his suggestions!

LIKE TOTAL SHIT, the same way it would look. let me offer to help you quickly.... Any car with handling, Nascar, formula 1, etc., what do they have in common? LOW TO THE GROUND, and low center of gravity.... Not only will you raise the overall ride height of your quad, your center of gravity would be way, WAY up there...so, like I said, like shit, both looks and handling. Get some nice rims and street tires for your quad, which are readily available...since a lot of people TT race their banshes. Lowering kit, stabilizer bar....and then....yes, it will handle excellent.... That ought to come in handy from those 100MPH runs from the police with a passenger on board... :shoothead:

Please don't encourage him....lol....

They're old... Toomey has probably sold more banshee pipes than anyone, and each new version is better than the last. T5s are arguably the best all around pipe ever made....good for stock and ported/stroked motors. T6's are great for stockish bolt on motors... However, you asked about T4s....and they're old enough to where you probably won't find a real wealth of knowledge on them. Just how good of a deal are they? ANYTHING is better than stock...but, T5s used really aren't that expensive, either!!

You're a lucky man to have a set of Gorr jugs, period...it's too bad he moved across the pond... I think Wes' recommendations are close, probably rich with the air box still on...but, close enough to get started....

I've heard the same. Search on ebay for the swingarm shop. never heard a bad thing about 'em...quality work, good prices....good service.

let me guess...it's bone stock and has a boost bottle. It's not hitting 100MPH... It might feel like it, it's not. Period....end of story. You took your friend for a ride too...and thought it hit 100? And...you think higher octane will make it go faster. I'm going to try and save you a TON of embarrassment and ridcule....please stop posting about this right now. This will turn into a 40 page thread of insults and jokes to you.... There, I've said my piece, you've been warned.... Normally, I try not to sound like a dick...but after this, I seriously just can't help myself.... Ding ding....let the games begin.

Video games, 20 inch rims, running from the cops and doing 100MPH on a banshee. Yep, its past your bedtime son...tell your parents you want 20's for your banshee for Christmas and I'm sure Santa will deliver...
-
He was right...listen to him.

1. is it legal to ride on the street to your friends house? 2. if your "friends" say it'll be the coolest thing they ever saw...let them worry about it and pay for them. I wouldn't put twinks on a banshee any faster than I'd put super swampers on a corvette...

If you dune more than drag, get a 35, if you drag more than dune...get a pair of 33's or 35s. I'm not sure how strong RDZ's level 2 porting is...but, I think you'll be fine with any of those choices.

I got my cub back together, and had shattered magnets in my flywheel as well. Lane from Vito's hooked me up with a Ricky Stator Flywheel, and it was good to go... It's one of those things you never think about...but, once it happens to you, you always check it. Part of the learning curve... Since you're close to Vitos'...head out to Silver Lake this weekend. Bunch of us going....should be a good time... Be nice to see another fellow HQ'er out there!!!

I've had to order a few things from them and they are super nice on the phone, good prices.... Sand Toyz unlimited is another one. John Sefarian is a helluva nice guy.

Jetting suggestions (I know this is asked alot)
dajogejr replied to Hollister_Hitman's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
What can I say...I'm bored at work...lol... Sorry to say, I won't be on the HQ Thursday through Sunday....got a long weekend dune riding trip, last one of the year with a bunch of buddies.... Sure will be nice to unplug for a while... To say I'm counting minutes at this point would be an understatement!!! -
Funny...that's how I feel about women...

Tell me about it. Don't get me wrong, I had a lot of run running the strip at Bob's...but, I wanna open her up a bit!!

The Toomey jet kit comes with the needles, 270 and 280 main jets. Put their needles in, use the 4th clip down from the blunt end. Put the 280 mains in....and you should be ok. Just make sure to do a plug chop and be sure!! Good luck, let us know how it turns out....
-
Bansh... ASV has a refurbished retailer on ebay, and....try applied racing, too... They make a very nice ez adjust ez pull lever/perch setup...and cheap, 30 bucks.
-
Not if you have the right tool. You remove the flywheel with a special tool, 10 to 15 bucks, which threads onto the inside of the flywheel. Do NOT use a jaw type puller, you risk wasting the flywheel. From there, it's a few screws to put the stator on the new plate, three 10mm bolts to hold the plate down, a few small phillips screws to hold the wires and the pickup down. Yeah, it's easy....no sweat!!

STOP RIDING THAT BIKE NOW....if you have T5 pipes and stock jets. Youre WAY LEAN, and you're risking big time damage...period. Yes, it'll run helluva lot better with the correct jetting! With just pipes, keep the stock gearing. I've got over twice the HP as you do, and I use stock gearing.... unless you did long runs, 1/4 mile or LONG, LONG straighaways, then you can use the 15 tooth up front....it will take you quite some time to wind that out! Most common drag races at dunes or in dirt rarely get past 4th on a banshee.... Wait on the needles..... They're 40 bucks from Vito's.... If you have the cabbage, it's not a bad idea...but, don't worry too much about it. http://www.vitosperformance.com/atv_parts/...at=0&page=1 If you get ONLY the needles from Toomey, they're 25.00 a piece...so, you're call.
