No. Pancake bearing will not do this. Several things could, however... Misadjustment (I normally align the arrow a little to the left if you're looking at it from the top down) A worn/grooved/notched basket, inner and/or outer can cause this as well. You Could have other issues as well, improperly adjusted shifter detent...for one.

2XL...one.

Guns, there's an easy way to see if that's the problem. Take the cap off the stock throttle. Remove the cable, pull the cable by hand and look through the back of the carb. If it opens all the way, it's not the cable or the slide binding up, it's the throttle.
-
No sir, they are not. Either: A. The thumb throttle does not swing far enough to open all the way. Common on bigger carbs and using the stock thumb throttle on a banshee. Many people grind the stocker so it has more throw/room. B. The cable it wrong/too long C. The spring is binding it up not allowing it. IF this has a screw off type top (can't tell 100% by the picture) loosen the top 1/8 turn. I've had stock banshee carbs bind when I overtightened them, loosening the cap just a hair fixed it no problem. You are definately not getting wide open by those pics, though. Let us know what the problem is. My guess is A or B.

Then again, I"m a slow poke, probably not the best person to take advice from...LOL. Good luck. Friends like the ones I have are the reason I want to build again. The drama over the weekend is a reason I got out. Hopefully you find more of the first!!

Finch, a pair of 33PWK or 35PWK would would work with some Sniper or Shearer pipes on that motor. Yes...I realize what I just said. Throw CPI in the mix as well. Whatever you get the best deal on. I strongly suggest a cut tranny, doesn't have to be a full on override...but at least a cut tranny. Simple lockup, your choice. There are a few washers I'd replace, any washers that need to be bent/folded over. The countershaft nut washer and the one for your clutch/shifter adjustment arm to name a couple. Replace 'em. Cheap insurance. Get a pancake bearing. While you're at it and it's apart, measure it for compression ratio. Ton more info out there than this, just a few pointers.

I would let Stevie Wonder pick out paint for my house, let Jeffrey Dahlmer babysit my kid and let Rosie O'Donnell model a two piece bikini in front of me before I asked for your advice on motors or motor setup. For someone who has never run anything other than a stock motor on pump gas...yeah, pump gas, you have nothing to offer.
-
Yeah right...more like Sacha Baron Cohen or Neil Patrick Harris...

I would bet Mat ports his own. I would bet he has enough on his hands with pipes to not do it for others, except inner circle, etc. I could absolutely be wrong on both accounts.

LM... When I purchase and use a product, I look for three things. 1. Performance, enough said. 2. Quality, this follows fit, function, reliability, looks, etc. 3. Customer Service. Enough Said. 1. Shearer has number 1 covered, without a doubt. 2., for me, from my own personal experience...is lacking at best. 3. 50/50. I feel I got shafted on my deal. We both agreed we could've handled it better. Others "love" his customer service...still others have a lot of issues with #2... You will never, ever find a post debating #1. There are other quality products out there. But SCP has the biggest target because they are still #1 at #1. I don't think this pipe bashing, builder bashing, etc., gets anywhere. You can argue if it sells products or just generates views. Yet to be seen or proved. But when personal opinions come into play, valid or not, combined with cheer-leading...at best it's entertainment...if anything.
-
Two things..yes, Shearer always puts out fast bikes that perform. You won't find anyone disagreeing with you on any of these threads. Two...if he had a bad dyno run, do you think he'd post it? Uh no. No one here says he doesn't make a pipe that performs....I've ran them and they do. There are other players. And then there's us quality and fit cheerleaders...but to quote "we're nobodies"... Mat is EXACTLY the kind of person that does it on a dyno first, and then goes and proves it on the hill or at the track. Two parts to the equation. Not just the first part. Those are good runs...period. He has proven he knows how to get the number AND set the bike up to run in the real world. But what do I know...? I'm a nobody..
-
Yep...was gonna add that. Not taking away from Frank...fo sho. Where the F you been hiding?
-
If the pass in this question was against my old bike with Frank riding it...or that event (Gilbert 2008) those times are not legit. No offense Jerid... But I saw the slips...I had slips for 4.76 and 4.77...they were wrong. Beam gaurds were off and it showed. J...if Brad is talking about another event, date and time, I apologize. I just remember you sending me the slip via email or PS...and told me Frank knocked you out.

That's it, I'm burning your steak this weekend. Guys, I'm not trying to take away from the fun of dune riding... It's an absolute blast, fun...and what this sport is all about. My other point (yes, I know I have many, valid or not is the question...lol) is I've seen a lot of dyno queens and dune kings get awfully disappointed at the track. Anyone can strap a bike down and hit the gas. It takes more balls than skill, although both are important, to rip through the dunes. Setup, lights, timers, etc., take more skill and knowledge. If you disagree, so be it.... Different opinions build this sport. But it works for me, and it's what I believe in. I've had reasonably good success with what I've done in the past, but I realize tomorrow is a new day.

So...Johndeere's bike you wanted to keep out in front of wasn't an OEM cylinder bike? You call beating a stock cylinder OEM an impressive gas run? uh...no. You can't beat a YFZ with a 30 shot? Pathetic. Even with 70 HP and a 30 shot? Like I said...pathetic joe racer. John, all you do is twist dyno runs to suit your pathetic cause, JIm already called you out on it. You don't comment on my statement about fitting wrong a 3rd time on Jeff's bike... Shearer won't refund his money. What about my pipes that split at the seam 3 years in a row. Not a duner bike. On a flat drag bike. Mounted per Mat's suggestion. After the second time, Mat said he's replace them if they split again. The very next year, when they split...he said no...he can't replace them. That is not second hand knowledge. That is right from this horse's mouth. My pipes. My bike. My 100% personal experience. No refund offered. Mat did pick up the tab to ship them to him the second time... First one was on my dime. Funny how you claim to be a dune rider, yet on the HQ ride you didn't leave the strip from at least 2PM to 7PM. Didn't leave. Witnessed. Please enlighten us on exactly how your dyno runs give you any kind of information at the dunes? Because you beat smaller motors? There's an accomplishment. I have lights and timers that tell me what I need to know. What do you have? Bike lengths with a hand drop start over a non-groomed, non-consistent surface? Wow...how insightful, duneraider. And for your information, since you don't know the answer obviously... VF2 get 1-3 more HP on the dyno on average vs. VF3. People don't like the VF2 because of screws backing out. Which, a little drop of loctite cures unless they are fubar. Now you can claim to already know that, but I'm calling BS on it...since you had to answer my question with another question. My point, all along, is your knowledge is baseless and therefore useless. Repeating secondhand knowledge is not even CLOSE to repeating knowledge and sharing it. If that "knowledge" is wrong or off...you're just spreading more false info. But that would never happen...no...of course not. Some day, that might sink in and you might understand that. Not any time soon I'm sure. And I might head out to the dunes next year...that's all still up in the air. I have too many other priorities in life right now. Family...and they come first. In closing John...you can't pass on reports of things and claim them to be knowledge, or "your" knowledge. No one wins a trophy for being fastest in the dunes. No one wins a prize for using someone else's dyno all the time and proving it no where. You can craft a nice long rebuttal...but those that race, that really ride...already know how full of shit you are. Laughable at best. Now give it your best shot....

No spark unless I give it throttle-normal?
dajogejr replied to bmfx1's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
BMF... Do a search on TORS. Or Throttle Override system. It's a great idea in theory, but in real world it usually fails and causes a whole bunch of What the F's. -
My DG pipes are better than your GRR. One, because they have the best initials out of all the pipes... Two, because they dyno the best.
-
I can tell you why J... Because he talks like he knows his shit...and he doesn't. He's trying to talk like a big man, yet his big accomplishments at the HQ ride were beating a 4 mil OEM cylinder with his 10 mil cub. He didn't mention getting his ass beat all day long by a YFZ450. All day long. All he does is run his mouth about dyno this, dyno that. Yet he has no real world performance pedigree. J...that's the equivalent of me owning a stock banshee and telling you how fast your bike(s) should be, how to mod them...and that I'm the dyno man. Sorry, in my world you talk the talk and walk the walk. I've done it. He hasn't even gotten past the crawl stage. So I hear his rants, over and over...on and on...and he hasn't done shit. J...you have raced against my old bike...and granted it was 4 years ago...but you know first hand it was a runner. So I say again...this man that talks like he's setting the world on fire, dyno this, dyno that...what has he done? Barely lit a match. And if he was such good buddies with Jeff Neibarger...(And I may have misspelled his last name, that's how I have it in my phone) he'd know he's on his third go around with trying to get pipes to fit for his build from Shearer. You asked for a comment from the fit and finish cheer leaders. There you go. How you like them apples, bitch?

The truth? That's a good one.

My next build will have the ARP studs and the Chariot head as well. They're a little pricey, but the most critical bolts on the motor if you ask me.
-
Absolutely not....I KNOW that bike was an animal. Turbo bikes are either feast or famine. They're touchy and picky, it would be nice to have an EFI setup...but I understand there's a larger cost involved. I've seen one of Dan Hull's A&S bikes RIP down the track with a turbo. No Matt, I was not talking about Tom's bike.
-
Thank you Bill... I was waiting for someone to chime in and say that. That pipe wasn't designed to be a be all, end all. It was designed because Matt felt the small turbo crowd needed a better pipe. I know of one other guy, a HUGE Shearer nut swinger, who was saying the 2 into 1 was the best pipe since sliced bread. It probably does do good on a duner/play bike. I've read plenty of info that the old 2-1 pipe by Moto-Fast wasn't as good as a set of PC pipes, FMF or a few other twin sets. When we get a chance to meet up Bill, I'd like to talk about your actual use with the Shearer 2-1 pipe.
