matt does make the vitos pipes ,grand river does not

well it wont be that much difference in price IMO ...really the porting should cost nearly the same amount as a stock stroke only thing really thats gonna rack yo u is the crank cost and the stroker domes .generaly the additional power usually requires more of a beefier clutch with a longer swinger to keep the wheelies at bay
-
true and welding the crank is good insurance .lots of static compression is hard on crank bearings so is hitting 2 thousand rpms higher than it was designed for and if your making double the power then it only makes good sense ,think of the crank as the heart of your engine. splitting a banshee egnine is really very simple with some patience and a manual yo u would save a lot of money (probably over $200+)if you did it all yourself .an engine builder only needs the cylinders not the entire engine ( he must know your engine setup however) and thats if hes using modern 2 stroke portmapping software .

Externally adjustable POWERJET
rocketboy replied to ny98banshee350's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
they do work good but they are better suited for exotic fuels like alky ,methanol ,nitro ,etc... and dont belive the hype about this mod filling in any leans throughout the powerband because in my experiance the vacum that is required to draw them through the lines is only at high rpms (mostly on 350's or 4mills )over half throttle.you can watch the carbs suck the fuel through the lines on the side of your carbs as yo u mash the throttle ...its kinda neat to see your banshee drinking fuel as it screams -
an engine builder that is careful and knows what hes doing can port a nickel plated cylinder without nicks or flaking ...it takes the right bits at the right speeds with the right lubricants. while some may disagree ,fro m what ive seen on a cubs port layout i would opt for a full port over just a clean up version ...they have lots of room for improvement i n a few key areas .it can mean 8 more hp which is a bike or two in 300 feet . ive also seen pics of cubs where some builders just grind a couple flashings out of the transfer ports and dance a buff wheel around the intake and call it a "drag port" keep in mind alot of builders are busy now so be pateint
-
the ports your referring to are the primary and secondary transfer ports ,there should be 4 of them not 2,they open and close to draw and release emulsifed fuel and act in a similar way as a cam(cams) and valves do in a four stroke engine .you will want the right tools and bits for the job and a should do many hours of research before even attempting to alter them .a 2 stroke engine is like a puzzle and its very easy to screw up and make less power than stock if your unsure...keep in mind bigger ports arent always better ports !!!! not trying to deter yo u fro m learning and experimenting ,but it only takes a second to make a huge mistake if you dont know what your doing .good luck

LRD Fully Adjustable Pipes
rocketboy replied to XxMeltIcexX's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
what a deal ,wish i would have seen this a year ago before i bought fattys for my trail bike lrd always did really good in pipe dyno shootouts .nice wide powerband -
a flex ball hone would fix that for the most part ,...im sure you wouldnt dare, but *Dont* try to use sand /emery paper in it to smooth it out .take a digital pic of the bore
-
type F atf works fine and offers less resistance which equals slightly more torque gotta change it a little more frequently though
-
the cubs have poor lowend power anyways especially one that is actually drag ported and not some quick cleanup port where they just knock down the high spots .i run a 358cub does it have great lowend ?...nope but on the pipe where im going to be riding it it wil l yank your arms off and will hang with a 4mill ,and although rare theres vids of 358s smoking 421 cubs ....chassy/tire setup and the bolt ons make all the difference i dont regret gettign a baby cub they can make big numbers just like a 421 can ...theres 358's turning 100 hp at the rear wheels it is not a good dune setup really ...but it would be ideal for flat drags .a 421 will make more torque and an awesome setup but a 358 can hit higher rpms and hit them with faster response . just depends on what your lookign for as far as power delivery .a 392 stock stroke would help get better lowend grunt over a 358 version .regardless what you decide youll want a hd clutch setup possibly a lockout ,gotta weld taht crank ..and the right pipes ,carbs and such or youll be choking it out and losing potential power

Where should i be with my jetting...?
rocketboy replied to FOXBANSHEE30's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
id say 180-195 is normal for a 2-1 with your mods -
id drop the the 2-1 pipe like a whores panties ,your probably down 10 horspeower by that alone, next id think about running race gas ,wally world octane boosters arent really going to do shizzle to help you ,theyre rating system is not same as the industry standard rating youd see at the pump ...now you spent all that money on your bike... is it worth it to toast your engine over a couple bucks more for your fuel ? Id run 100LL aviation and as far as the carbs i also think for mx yo u probably would get better response and snap off idle with stock ones or maybe 30mm Dslides ,but you bought them so id ask Jeff what the jetting should be as he is the one who sold them to you and ported your cylinders.i would guess a 50 pilot and 160 mains ...maybe even smaller like 155's because of your pipe choice probably will not not flowing at high revs over 8000 rpms and your loseing CFM by running an airbox with a foam filter ...but theres many factors to consider
-
i would not recommned these for a 4mm crank ,as they are too aggresive in duration for the extra stroke and would not match up unless you wanted to mill the bases down with cut domes and not run any spacer plate
-
no yo ucould get by just fine with those mods ,it just wont hit the high notes quite like the drag pipes would .-free bump
-
i have found the most important factor for the clutch is the springs .you want heavy duty springs a yz490 clutch is probably the best one yo ucould get for a banshee and still fit inside the basket it is bigger and beefier than even the FZR1000 setup that most guys tell yo uto run or sell you
-
before yo ubuy a kit i think you should talk with RDZ racing ,it is my understanding they sell and build alot of the newer super cubs ... his prcies are high for the stock cylinder porting but lately on ebay i have seen where he is really reasonable on these cub packages and could steer you in the right direction
-
i ported these cylinders ,if memory serves ,they are 198 exhaust and 128 transfer durations ,its an agressive dune port ...lots of work in these .would work best for CPI or shearers pipes for open area riding .bore was in excellent condition and honed when i modifed them about a year ago .sorry for the crude old pics
-
 check these covers out im selling ,lots of colors to match your machine CLICKY
-
the shearers are going to produce alot more topend rpm and cool thing is they still pull at those rpms while the CPI will have long petered out 100 rpms back ,I say for a drag bike with a full tilt high duration portjob the shearers will make more power after 7,000 rpms ,for a duner setup with say a 194 exhaust duration then cpi will give a broader more powerful torque curve over the sheaers... both really good pipes for their purposes ,just gotta pick the right pipe for the application ...personally i prefer the RDZ racing 2 out 1 side instead over the shearer small bore infrmaes and the CPI on a cub engine ,....they pull harder longer and seem to rev higher over any ive tested !
