  1. I am going to a +2 a-arm setup and want different shocks. I don't race, but ride hard. For the money, would the Works be that much of a difference for me. I could save a couple hundred bones and get used YFZ450 shocks, I've heard they are pretty good. As far as aftermarket shocks, I know the Works aren't near as good as Elka and TCS, but they are out of my price range, I'm tryin to stay around $300 or so. What you guys think?
  2. Oh yeah, can anyone tell me the legth of the unmounted Banshee shock from eye to eye? Thanks
  3. Will yfz 450 shocks bolt right up to my Shee? I am in the market for some new ones, but don't have a lot of dough to spend on them. I noticed there are a lot of them for sale on ebay for pretty good prices. How would you rate these shocks? I was looking at a few sets of used Works double or triple rates, would these be that much better for the money? A friend says I should either fork out the cash for some Elkas, or save my $$ and buy stock yfz's, not to bother with Works for the price difference. Anyone agree? Oh, I don't race, just like to ride hard when I do. The only reason I want new shocks is cause I'm going to a +2 or+3 A-arm setup and don't want to put my old shocks on there. I probably really don't need anything as nice or expensive as Elkas, so what's everyone think would be the best for me to do?
  4. Just curious because I know a guy who has a set fro sale very cheap and they're brand new. They look almost identical to Holeshots. I don't really need them, but they're so cheap I almost have to buy them.
  5. I was asked this at work the other night....by a female! If a man and a womean sit facing eachother completly naked and masterbate, but never touch, is it considered cheating?????????
  6. How much for a rear shock rebuild if you don't mind me asking?
  7. Will YFZ shocks bolt right up to any +2 or 3 banshee setup? What about 450R?
  8. I folded up my left side A-arm(stock) today by severly over jumping a tabletop, everybody else seemed to enjoy the shit out of it though. Anyway I figure I finally got a good excuse to go with a +2 set up I've been wanting. Is there really that much difference between that and a long travel set-up? I don't race competitively, so would it be worth the extra $$$$? I realize a good set of shocks makes a world of difference. I was just gonna get a +2+1 set, and maybe throw in a good set of aftermarket shocks with rezzies a little later on, but I figure if I'm gonna spend some money, I may as well explore all my options. Any opinions? Oh, anyone use a +3+1 a-arm? Or +2+2? how you like them? As always, thanks in advance......and anyone with a good used set, hook me up
  9. Thanks man, I did some more checking around and couldn't find anything on those, so I will pass. I'm probably gonna go with FullFlight or American Star, they are priced pretty good. Unless I can find some good used ones.
  10. \ Do the fly, shave your head .030(around $45), order a +4 degree timing key($20), and some bigger main jets at the same time ($2 each). You won't have more than $150 in it, and it will make a huge difference. And the best part is that when you talk shit to the Z400, you can still say your Shee is stock, he won't be able to tell the difference.....until you really smoke his ass
  11. Thinking about buying some extended A-arms since I bent one of mine today. I found a set for a really good price, but nver heard of them. He says they are made by Moto-Quad, figured I better check with the experts first since they are on ebay, don't want to buy a homemade set or anything.
  12. Thanks guys, I thought I had to be pretty close. Like I said, she runs great, no sputtering or backfiring at WOT, just can't seem to find that damn ring. I'll let her ride for now...........
  13. Yes I warm the motor up, swap in new plugs, do a WOT chop right away, swap in old plugs and drive home. Then I cut off the threds to expose the whole element, but no ring. Could I be doing something wrong, or jetting just not right yet?
  14. OK, I have done repeated WOT plug chops and keep moving up my main jet, but can't get the chocolate ring on the plug element. Shee runs awsome, starts easy, idles great, and screams at WOT! Runs better than ever, but no brown ring, what gives? The tip of the plug is a nice chocolaty color, which is what I've always gone by. I am currantly on 330's (the biggest I have), stock pilot, stock needle in original clip position (i think). --currently running T-5's, .030 milled head, TDR reeds and cages, Pro-Flo foam set up w/o lid, 40:1 mix, at about sea level.......and have a +4 degree key to be added after flywheel lightening next week. Any ideas, I hate to screw with her any more than necessary since she is running so good, but will if you think I should. Oh, and there is a little prob with oil leaking from exhaust ports , but I will post that seperatly. Share the wisdom fellas..........
  15. This is my second post on this because I only got one reply before. Come on guys, need some advise. There is oil (looks like gear lube) leaking out of my exhaust ports (both sides) on the motor. one guy said it's probably a bad crank seal. Anyone agree or disagree? If it is, how bad would it be to keep riding like that for a while? I was planning to tear her down and freshen her up sometime in the next few months, but not right away. Should I stop riding now? What are some possible effects of riding it like this? Should I be fairly safe if I keep a good check on the gear lube level?
  16. Where is silver Lake? Anyone got some directions or a map? Tryin to plan a trip somewhere if I can get some of these bitches around here to plan ahead a little.
  17. How bout some pics of the nerfs, plastics, and seat? Thanks
  18. Yeah, I've talked to him before about it, But I live in SC. It would take at least a week to get done and back to me, maybe more. Plus shipping both ways. If my guy does it I can sit and watch him do it, and have it back on and running in a matter of a couple hours. The price doesn't really concern me, just the down time.
  19. My machinist who does most my work wants to lighten my flywheel for me, but I don't think he's ever done one on a banshee before. He does mostly high performance work and builds race engines. They have been in business for over 30 years and are known to be one of the best in the area, so i don't really want to insult him by doubting his work. I know he has done plenty of work on race car fly's, I just wondered if there are any differences in the 2? what type of questions should I ask him about the fly work? How many oz's should the final fly weigh? Is it pretty much just drilling the face holes out bigger or is there more to it? Sorry guys, I know there are a couple of people on the HQ that do fly work everyday, but this way will save me a week or so turn around time, and I can be back up and running the same day.
  20. I'm in SC and am itching to plan a trip somewhere and meet up with some fellow Shee fans. I have a group of around 10 that want to go, but not really sure where yet. I tried to get them up for the Glamis trip or Little Sahara, but their all bitches, "to far to drive" they say! Guess I should expect that from a bunch of 4 strokers huh! Anyway, give me some ideas and any peeps wanting to tag along, step up and say so! I really want to try some sand dunes for the first time, but open to anything wild. I keep hearing about the Badlands, but never hear where they are, probably in Ca or Ok or some shit. Have heard or a few places in the mountains(NC) , but they seem more like nature trail type shit than Banshee roostin area. Come on guys, help a man out................
  21. Anyone out there near SC got some nice spots to ride? I'm tryin to find a cool spot to make a weekend trip to so we can do some riding. Got a group of about 6-8 people, although I'm the only shee'r in the group, plenty og 4 strokes to kick the shit out of. I really want some sand to ride in, but seems to be kinda scarce around here. We have a pretty badass clay pit right here in my town, couple hundred acres, but gettin old. Anyone with a good spot let ne know, we can plan a ride if you're interested.
  22. Never heard of that, but I just milled my head .030 last week and only replaced the head gasket. And I am very satisfied! Runs great, you won't be sorry you did it!!!
  23. I think it was on both sides, but the right was the one I really noticed. It was definitly worse on that side. I'll go double check to be sure, but pretty sure there was a little leaking on the left also.
  24. i am in the process of rejetting and everytime I do a WOT plug chop I notice a dark, gritty, oily residue coming out of the exhaust ports. I thought it was just unburned fuel in the cylinder running out after I killed it for the plug chop, but it's very oily! Is this normal or should I do a comp test to see if my rings are gone?
