I definately agree. My friend and I were just talking about this subject. No doubt the aftermarket head will cool a little better. but look at it like this> you spend $50.00 on getting your stock head milled. That still leaves you with say...$200.00. Thats $200.00 you could spend on advancing your timing, lightening the flywheel...you get what I'm saying. That doesnt mean I wont ever run a aftermarket head, its just a matter of the fund$
Dawgfan, You be amazed how much just adding pipes and a filter wake up the stock shee. Its a completely different ride after doing those two mods. I just put on my CPI's yesterday and all I have to day is damn!
I'm running Skatrak 22x11x8 Haulers with stock gearing. I am getting ready to drop 1 tooth in the front sprocket. I heard that doing that will bring it closer to factory gearing.
I dont think the top end would be that rich. Considering its a stock bike with a k&n, if anything it might be a little lean with the more air it is getting from the k&n.
That what is sounds like to me too. My shee was doing this the other day for a few minutes when I first started it up after I put my new pipes on. As soon as I ran it for a few minutes it stopped.
Well the installation went well. I did have to cut off the bumpers off the frame, and trim a little plastic off my front fenders. I got it all re-jetted so now I cant wait to ride it! I want summer already!!
I just got my CPI 's installed today. It went well. I went to the hardware store and bought some longer (stronger than factory) bolts for the silencer mounts. So far so good. I guess the true test will be when riding.
280's with just a k&n!? That sounds like it would be insanely rich! I have just k&n pods on my shee and I was running 250's (that was in about 40 degrees) and that was almost too rich. A lot of people who run around 280's have pipes and a k&n. Do have any other mods?
Ya, definately run it straight. Drain all of your original coolant (the green stuff) flush it with some water. Re attach the hoses, Add the engine ice, and your good to go!
Do it, its a very cheap and effective way of giving you a little more low end, its also good when you are running bigger tires. I have a 13 tooth, I just havent put it in yet. My shee is still in the graphic shop.
CPI are drag pipes. The ones most people run here are the CPI in frames. Its a drag pipe in your frame. What more could you ask for! I was debating on what pipe to get for almost a month, I chose the CPI's.
