I can say that a buddy has the R and another buddy has the yfz and R spanks it all day both have same mods (airbox lid removed...lol) The R will beat it by a bike length, even when they switch riders........lol I'm not saying the 450 isn't fast, I'm just saying that the 450 my buddy has gets beat by the R and a 05 Raptor By about a bike length. It really doesn't matter though the Shee will piss on both of them and I think thats what most of us here have.

sounds like a carb problem, take them off and clean them and see if that works if not get back to us. -
Use some welding and re-config some mounting brackets.........there was a guy on ebay that had a pipe specially made for a banshee engine in a R frame not twins but it look real nice.....I'll search around for it.

damn nation i better tighten plugs up a little tighter then ive rode all day to come back and see both plugs just held down by the coil wires just a couple threads holding them in, but shhhh that was on the boss' bike (Wifes)

Definately looks like the wire it broekn off, (mine has both visual on the front). Yeah it can be fixed just get a soldering iron and some solder and solder the wire back on where it is supposed to be unless the wire is to short then you have to do more soldering than you intended to and if in that case you should remove the stator and also buy some heat shrink......goodluck

the spark plug shouldn't matter. the reasons for the pistons melting is because it was hot....really hot, check you water impellar and gear make sure the little pin that keeps the gear from spinnin on the shaft is ok, also check for fluids, make sure it had coolant in it, i would say check your jets but i dont think the carbs would make it run that hott, what ratio did you mix your gas? It's broken......you ruined it forever! No, it should be ok I personally wouldnt use pre-mix in there but i dont see why it would hurt anything just make sure you use real gear oil when you get it built ready to start or as some guys use ATF

Port & Polish/new head or shave head?

I'm in the same perdicament but my whole engine is gone, gonna send my cylinders out to gorr here in next week or so and also i thought about shaving the head but i thought doing that and not have the water jackets chambered mifght make it run hotter so the nosshead is the only way to go, just waiting on dlnoss to get back to me, have a good one -
I've heard you take 2 different halves of cases to machine shops and have them matched to make sure they will work. I'm not 100% sure , its just word of mouth, maybe some other guys will chime in about this

Tnaks for all the parts but now that it is as bad as it is im going to do everything that should be done porting ect. The sad thing about him blowing it up was the motor was under 2 months old from bottom up new crank pistons bore everything was brandnew and now it painful to look at if i can get some pics taken i will post them its ugly. I thought about making him pay for it but it would be 2 years for that to happen, hell never ride it again ill just show him it fast and tell him he cant ride it have a good one p.s Exact words said after he blew it up "I think its out of gas"

Yeah mudslinger i thought about it but 16 years of friendship aint worht it plus out running his yfz was fun but what im going to do to it after i rebuild my motor will be even better I;m going to buy everything new don't want to take that chance so far eric gore woods port is on the list along with wiseco crank, nosshead, v-3's but I'll be looking for some better pipes after eric recommends whats best for it i still have to call him does anyone know if he can resleeve cyclinder also and how much it would be along with his porting just trying to get a rough estimate thanks guys

Went riding yesterday came back,one of my buddies comes over and says im gonna take it for a ride so i say ok, he takes off down the road and im saying oh shit went i hear him reving it up past the ban through every gear well he comes back and passes my house hauling ass and then it goes BAHHHHH! I was like there goes my new motor. anyway i walk down to where he is and first words out of his mouth are i think its out of gas. I was like listen you stupid fucking 4 poke rider you dont run a 2 stroke like you do a 4 stroke dumbass you cost me a shit load of money just now. so i tear it down this morning and the lower rod bearing on the right side exploded ate my cylinder thrashed my head just a shitload of a mess, just thoght id ask you all I'm going to have about $800 to fix it and I ride mostly trails and some wide open trails so build me a motor guys Here is what i already have that is still useable: boyesen reeds lightened flywheel timing plate..........lol thats about it help me out!

also i forgot to say check the choke tube the llttle tube that runs from you left carb to the right carb

I found it out its a do-it-yourself type deal. in the black bezel thats on the front of your headlights there is a metal ring(you have to break the plastic off it) then from there you can just polish or have them chromed got my blasted just waiting for the chromers.........Viola a little bit of bling!

sounds a little rich possibly, check your air screw make sure it is 2 turns out from turned in pos. Do you still have your airbox lid snorkel all that still on the box we need to know every little thing about it also read the jetting articles.

one of my buddies has the hd's says he loves them they are pretty knarly, to me they feel a little on the soft side but as far as traction goes they hook pretty good for what they are -

32;1 is richer than 40;1, yeah it's a k&n but i cant find my damn outerwear so I guess I'm just going to drain the gas and clean the filter see if this helps......later Josh

40;1 klotz 93 octane, 260 main 25 pilots needle one clip down plugs look perfect no bogs no hesitation. for some reson you take the carbs off blow out the pilots put them on it will start up no problem. get done riding it let it sit for about an hour and it wont start you have to take the carbs off and sure enough pilots are clogged i dont get it figuring maybe dirty tank, i just got a new set of stock carbs for it the olds threads are gone but i never had probs like this with them any ideas solutions?

well im tired, of having to clean my carbs just to get this thing to start for some reason the pilots keep on gumming up. just wondering what methods you guys use to clean out your tanks and what not? thanks fellers

carbs are not the problem ive been through them in and out before putting them on, for some reason its not firingor has weak spark, ill follow up once i get my new cdi ill see if that fixes it

yeah put a better pair of stockers on. It has a very weak spark, the coil is brandnew the stator is new the wiring harness is new it's a drag harness, i tested the coil,it's good. tested the stator, it's good tested everywire in the harness for continuity(I coild see the wires no brakes) continuity test was good. the only thing i couldnt test is the cdi(unless it can brake itself without running it shouldnt be bad) I have a new cdi on the way its in the mail. I'm just sick and tired of this POS had it running 2 days and now it doesnt run again. it has no key no tors nothing like that, I'll wait to test it with a new cdi if that doesnt fix it ill be selling the damn thing..........have a good one

Just got this thing running the other day, now this morning I get some new carbs put them on there jetting is right on took the jets out of the other carbs for these, anyway i get everything ready to start hoping to go riding , and the POS wont start so I take the plugs out there wet ok....put in new plug nothing check for fire hardly any, everything is the electrical system is brandnew finally get some different plug now it has a weak spark but you have to kick the shit out of it to even get it to do that......I'm so fed up up this piece of shit any ideas?
