  1. out of curiosity, what did you polish the exhaust ports with? dremel, super fine sand paper? mothers and a rag? what?
  2. Buy a Hot Rods, theyre trued within .001'' and that is sufficiant reliability for any motor under 60-70 hp. Its also a much better assembly than most machinists can rebuild the the stock crank to. Welded is good, but ive heard if it is done shitty it will be out of balance.....and chances are that some okey in east county will do you dirty on the welding. And as stated above its probally gonna crack anyway. Im in the same boat, and im going for a Hot Rod after this season.
  3. Start in 2nd.....lean forward.....give it full throttle off the line....DONT clutch it between gears.....and dont look back. Practice this and you'll get him. That is probally how he's beating you at least.
  4. Youre probally right about the reeds making it feel faster, but if you guys are like me then you probally have better things to do then take carbs apart to rejet. I had to jet up 2 sizes for my V force. Something about taking the slides apart (springs, locking plate, and trying not bend the needles) just erks me the wrong way. That Noss can be done in about a half hour since it uses stock studs. Plus i can see if there is any shimmy in the pistons with the head off. Thanks for input fellas, my blue Noss head will be here Friday care of DLNOSS. I'll post pictures when im done if anyone cares to see.
  5. Yeah im leaning towards a Noss head im thinking....reeds dont help with cooling. Plus the blue anodized head just looks tits.
  6. By the way, for you Glamis guys check out this link i found. Its a live camera at Olds hill and sand highway. http://www.glamisweather.com/livevideo.htm# pretty sweet huh?
  7. Looking to pep up my wifes banshee. It only has a K&N and Pro Circuits right now. We ride only in the dunes, so what do you guys think will give a better gain? Ive got them both on my bike, but i did them both at the same time so I cant decide. Looking for some feedback.
  8. Do it, and do a ricky stator plate at the same time. That extra 35.00 bones it costs to bump timing really compliments that booned flywheel.
  9. Me three, its done in mine since the first top end R&R. Serious dude, ive come to learn with my banshee, if it aint broke dont try and fix it.
  10. The wife and I are gonna be there. Getting kind of tired of gecko though, might try the washes or the flats.
  11. Got back from Glamis yesterday. The boon tuned flywheel rips in the dunes. I recommend doing a +4 timing mod at the same time, they really compliment eachother in the sand. Im no shit "in the pipes" right off idle now. I fully expect my stock crank to go boom any day now the way it is reving.......but that is my own fault. Thanks Boon
  12. You could do the ASR's on ebay for the same price. People on this site will knock them, but theyre better than the stock setup. I run them (crash them) in the dunes, and a few other guys on here run them as well. The guys that run them are all for them.
  13. Well i did a search on +4 timing and running higher compression, and i gotta tell you it is scaring the shit out of me. Guys are running similar setups and are still blowing holes in theyre pistons with similar octane ratings. I have backed the timing to +3 in hopes to buy back some reliability. Does advanced timing make you idle higher? I got it all back togather last night and started it up and it revved to the moon instantly so i shut it off real quick. Its not the obvious, slides arent stuck, and no air leaks or anything like that. Ill mess with it more this afternoon i guess. Taking suggestions though.
  14. I went and picked up 4 gallons today. At 4.36 per gallon im thinking you cant beat that. Octane is octane right? Im going to be running it half 91 and half 111 (101 octane) for the mods in the sig only because of the new +3/+4 timing combined with my 157 psi compression. Anyway im new to the race fuel thing that is why i ask. Oh and it is leaded too, does that fuck up anything? It says its for 2 and 4 stroke engines in the pamphet i picked up. Let me know users, Pros, and legends, im tuning tommarrow and going duning this weekend.
  15. So wait, what?.....help me understand. Youve been doing this for awhile obviously, so help me understand (in lamens terms) in your opinion, are the heims shit, OK, better than stock , good, or great?? the ones im running are rated at 18000+ pounds before they snap, crackle or pop (so they say). That has got to be stronger than stock. I only ask because when people that know what the hell they are talking about i listen. Im all ears. By the way, I cant wait for the flywheel to show up Wednesday either!
  16. Ive ran the ASR's all season, and for the price their pretty damn slick (heims, structure, bolt grade, ect). Ive crashed twice and got away with only a bent front rim. Yes, everyone says they are cheap, but mine are holding their own compared to the stock setup. You do have to blow them out with compressed air when youre done riding for the day or else that little nylon sleeve inside the heim wont last. Yeah, sure theyre crap compared to what Gust or Ellis runs on their bikes, but not everyone can shit out that kind of money. Arms, heims, hardware, tie rods, brake lines, warranty (probably B.S.), all this under 400.00 shipped to your door from that dude on ebay. Im not trying to advertise, just trying to make a point.
  17. My wifes banshee does that when i stand it up on its end on the grab bar. I sop it up with a rag, start it up and go and its fine. If that is the reason why then your OK. Outside of that im not sure.
  18. Right on, i guess that answers my question and with no power band hit they have no business in the sand. I knew there was a reason i never saw them in the dunes before. Thanks for the info
  19. There is an article in Petersons 4 Wheel & Off Road, December 04, on page 24, "environmental & political watch" that only 22,000 acres are needed instead of the original 53,000 acres in ISDRA (glamis, gecko, gordons, buttercup) to protect that damn endangered Milk Vetch plant since" its so plentiful within its historic range" already. So if were lucky, some more of the closures will open up.
  20. Now that i have your attenion, what are these pipes for? Im used to seeing pipes with expansion chambers and all. What type of riding are these for? Why does everyone floke to these when they come up for sale?
  21. Same price this year too dude.
  22. P.T.T. With the stock gearing too.
  23. Alright Duece, i'll take your word for it. I picked up the Renthal 15 tooth today from Alba and i'll try and knock it out tomarrow without taking the chain off. Thank god because that was looking like a bitch and a half having to remove the chain and all. Not that im incapable, just that im lazy. "Push The Throttle".... tell me more about why youre knocking the 15 tooth setup. Help me understand why you cant ride wheelies anymore in first with a 15 tooth, i ride them in third up the face of the dune. What gives man?......just asking.
  24. Im bouncing the idea of the 15 tooth up front too. Whats the deal with taking the chain off and putting it back on though. If im careful, can i pop the master link with a pair of pliers and a philips? or do i need that special tool? what about putting it back on? Somebody that has done this, help a brother out and give me a quick run down of the easiest way to do this.
