Oh damm not a 400ex , lol I dont know what your mods are ,but a +6 swing arm for trails is a bad idea, put the stock back on. As far as gearing,again I dont know your mods but 14\41 stock is a good start or 13\41.

The carbs leak gas with oil mixed not just oil Is your fuel valve off? Or, you could check the bolt at the bottom of the case for a leak (the one used to change the oil)

You should have a few different size sprockets front and rear to run with. You wont know whats best until you do sum passes with different gears.
