budget performance question
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to ogre03's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Colored powerbands give you a few more ponies too. I hear that pink ones are the best. Rare. -
I agree with 2strokesmoke, apart from the smiley! Where are your air screws at? ... Unless they need to be in less than 1 turn out, then you should be ok with the 25 pilots. Otherwise move up to 27.5s. Rare.

You might find that with your improved cumbustion design, you may not need as much advance as +4 degrees for best performance. ... That will also help your idling problem. Rare. -

Dyna Ignition Curves -- Ya got any?
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to BansheeGuy_IV's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
BG, Dynatek were quick and informative when answering my emails before I got mine, look out for a fairly quick reply. I thought you could plug it into the programmer and view the curves via your computer screen. Hmmmm . These following numbers are from the graph in my 'Yamaha Genuine Service Manual'. But it's referenced to the YFZ350T and the date of printing is 1987. I'm not sure if the CDI curve has changed from 1987 upto the present date: 17 degrees from 0 - 2000 rpm, then straight line to 22 @ 3500, straight line to 9 @ 10000. ... That's the edge of the graph at that point, so no idea if it continues diagonally or turns horizontal from there?? ... They must think we don't take our bikes over 10k . These are the numbers I found on the web a while ago, but I don't know what year they're referenced to: RPM Banshee 0 17 500 17 1000 17 1500 17 2000 17 2500 19 3000 20.3 3500 22 4000 22 4250 21 4500 20 5000 19 5500 18 6000 17 6500 16 7000 15 7500 14 8000 13.5 8500 12 9000 11 9500 9.5 10000 8 10500 6.5 11000 4.5 11500 4 12000 2 So that's 3 variations, and 4 if you count the MSD! ... (8,9,10 & 13 degrees advance @ 10k rpm depending on which curve you look at). Is the date on your Dyna graph "11-2-00"? I think you might want a bit more than 5 degrees BTDC @ 7-8k. I'd be interested to hear your response from Dynatek. And in the meantime, I'm going to get a hold of Yamaha and get some up-to-date specs for the present day CDI curve. Rare. -
No experience with big bore banshees or a single carb on a twin. ... But with reference to jetting, moving to a bigger carb reduces air velocity and requires jetting up, and over-boring the cylinders increases air velocity through the original carbs and therefore requires jetting down. ... If that theory holds true, then you're running rich. By going to the 409, so many parameters have changed and it's a new ball game as far as jetting the original carbs goes. ... port timing, port time area, compression, CR, MSV, etc., etc. Get your mains dialled in with plug chops, and go from there on the other circuits. OR ... listen to loco, he's got the hands on experience. ... You'd certainly be better going bigger on the carbs, but dual 35s loco? Rare.

Dyna Ignition Curves -- Ya got any?
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to BansheeGuy_IV's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I've got the DynaFS, but have only use the standard curves. (Not invested in the programmer box yet). I'd be interested to know how accurate the stock curves are to the graph that comes with the Dyna. I guess you've got the graph? The curve that's supposed to be the same as stock, according to the graph, stops retarding at 10k RPM (12.8 degrees BTDC). ... The (non Dyna) info I have shows that @ 10k the timing is 8 degrees BTDC and continues to fall to 2 BTDC @ 12k RPM. The other 3 curves take their variations on stock, but all stop retarding at the same point. .... 16 degrees BTDC @ 10k RPM. (That's about 1.7mm BTDC which seems like too much advance at those RPMs). Sorry to be answering your question with a question. Rare. -
18 months ago, I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from Drinking Buddies 4.2, which I had used for years without any trouble. However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products and the only solution was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off. To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is incompatible with several other applications, such as Guy's Night Out 3.1, Quad Biking 4.5, and Playboy 6.9. Successive versions of Girlfriend proved no better. A shareware program, Party Girl 2.1, which I tried, had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks. Eventually, I tried to run Girlfriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other, they caused severe damage to my hardware. I then upgraded to Fianc

budget performance question
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to ogre03's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Hey Ryda, I don't think you left him any green. Loose or modify the airbox lid, adjustable timing plate, reeds, and good jetting. ... It all depends what you've got in your wallet. The sky's the limit and then some! Rare. -
All the above is good info. ... One other thing to check is that the plates that hold the needle down go back in the right way round so as not to block the hole in the top of the slide. Rare.

Doma Racing Exhausts
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to Rare Scottish Tree Badger's topic in MX Forum
Thanks chapmanmd, I was looking for some tech. info. and don't seem to be getting anywhere with the main company. These pipes are on my MX Banshee and they're a real hard pulling pipe from down low. The cylinder porting was done to work with these pipes and they get 'on the pipe' real early in the RPMs and give a good wide power band. Still waiting to see if anyone else runs them. ... I can't be the only BHQer to have Doma Exhausts, surely! Rare. -
I'll take a side bet on that one aswell. Rare.
