New Banshee with the Phaser 500 motor in it?
bbluebanshee replied to Minkia38's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I saw this article when it came out...and all along I have been hoping to hear something. As of yet, I have seen nothing about it...but here is to hoping!! -
For sand dunes....portwork, pipes, filters, jetting...i would stay away from boring the cylinders out. Gains for boring are very minimal, and the boring will come with rebuilds if you ride the crap out of it!! Just my .02 cents

Alright...just got off the phone with a lady named Gretchen(must have been a serious chain smoker...i thought I was talking to a dude ) She told me two options..... first: Nature of the Northwest, it is a store near or in the Lloyd Center Or Call 503-872-2750 for more info

The northwest forest pass can be gotten at the forest info booths(for lack of knowing wtf it is really called) I know there is one as you get into reedsport..i will give a call to see if i can find a local one for you. As far as riding for me...at least for the next couple of months both bikes are down. girlfriends and mine are both getting re powdercoated and chromed. So they are both in frame state as of this point. Hope to have them both back together by july. I have been trying to trade my truck for a wheeler, but no bites yet. This nice weeather has got me itching!!

Whats the must have's for a good 4mill Drag Cub
bbluebanshee replied to a topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I think one of ou best resources for drag quads would be planetsand.com they have forums for all kinds of drag racing...sand, dirt, asphalt etc. just my.02 -
Welcome to Oregon Firehead!! I live here in Coos Bay/North Bend. Anytime you make it around, dont hesitate to shoot me a pm. As far as the noise restrictions that have not yet gotten answered for you... The only time I have gotten checked was when I asked to be checked. Since I asked, and was not riding at the time(sitting in a parking lot waiting for a friend) they would not give me a ticket. I rang out at 106 db  There are people that i know that have gotten checked and gotten tickets, but they are few and far between. I have heard the worst place is Florence. I have never worried too much about the sound regs, but if I see the forest service or police...I head the other direction. I am sure I will get nailed one of these days, but hopefully not. Now for dunes stickers and the such... You will need a dunes sticker and a flag for your truck as well as your bike. Then to park your truck in a staging area or on the sand(I think) You will need a northwest forest pass 30 bones for one year, or 5 bones every time you go out. I hope some of this info helps. And good luck!!

If you dont know, it is not a stupid question!! Extending the swingarm helps keep the front end on the ground. As we all know, banshees have a hard time keeping the front tires planted under full power in lower gears. A longer swingarm basically move the weight more forward in the chassis. Some of the downfalls of haveing a longer swinger are turning radius suffers, as well as traction.

OOPS...sorry guys!! I gotta say this shock is badass!! I have tried three different shocks..stock, axis, and the stock one that Shane built. Of course everyone knows pretty well what a stock shock performs like. I also tried an Axis custom shock, not 100% set up for me though. That was a huge improvement over stock. Then i was able to try Shane's shock. What a difference!! I dont know exactly what he does to the inside of the shock, but it must be some kind of magic!! The Axis shock would be pretty unpredictable through some tight deep whoops. Bounce up one way kick the other, it was not easy to stay on the gas. When I put Shanes shock on, it was a much needed improvement. It let me open the throttle up for most of the time going through the whoops. Granted it was still a rough ride, but much more predictable, a quite a bit smoother, and a pleasure to ride!!

Troy...i cant send you any more messages...your inbox is full..or so it says. Thanks frank

to fix that midrange bog...try dropping a clip on your needle. Sounds like you may be a bit fat in the mid...raising the needle a clip may fix that

Do they still spin freely. Most of the time with a bad bearing..you can hear it. They will clunk a bit, or not spin at all. Are the bearings in te hot rods crank freshly oiled. This will slow down the free spinning of the bearings.

Anyone that didnt make it...you missed out!! It was a kickass time!! Lots of good drag racing, nice bikes, and fun events. Fullbore and Alba will be sponsoring it again next year. Make some plans to go it was definately worth it. Watching the bomb squad doing some of their tricks was awesome!!
-
Glad you like them! Thanks to you as well!!

Usually no tools are required to split the cases. It is getting to the spot to split the cases that needs the special tools. clutch holding tool, and a flywheel puller will do it.

I am definately interested in testing a shock for the dunes. I have a +6 swinger with a stock shock and stock springs. A bit too spongy. feels like i am riding on a waterbed till it bottoms out. I am an aggressive duner, as well as a hill shooter. I also live about 10 minutes from the dunes.

Where do you live Woof?

Here is a list of events planned....looks like it is going to be a blast this year!! Much better than the last few. Who else is going to make it there? dunefest

It wasnt even a 4mm shorty...it was a stock stroke crank. It ran, but it was all or nothing!! No bottom or mid, but lots of top!

Well, I finally got my 4 mill cheetah cubs put together and rode them for memorial weekend. Awesome top end power, but no low or mid. So, i jetted all weekend. Got to where the plugs looked nice and tan, but still the same performance. I did a compression check a couple days ago. 125 on each cylinder!! So now i have a new set of problems...why only 125? I go down to the local shop to pick up new domes. i was running 19cc, and thought 17cc would be better. He said they would bring me up to about 160, and to check the clearance and squish at the top of the piston. So, i take the coolhead off and go buy a vernier caliper. With the piston at its upmost position, i am still running with .049 clearance. So since i am in there, i decide to check the stroke. I go over it like 10 times to make sure i have the right readings. I should have been reading at 58 mm, because it was supposed to be a 4 mill crank. But i was reading at 54.02mm. I bought a crank of the internet from in2glamis like2 1/2 years ago that was supposed to be a +5 longrod stroker crank. Well guess what, the sum bitch is stock stroke!! Now to get my motor to run right, i have to get a new crank. Just a little pissed and need to vent.....sorry for the book!!

I will be there, and will be ready to throw some people a whoopin!!

I always run a seperate set of pipes for break in. This (if the shee is jetted right) is when the motor is under the most friction, thus creating more heat. This in turn discolors the pipe. The fatter the jetting the less discoloration. Most banshes pipes are blued 3-5 inches from the cylinders because of the breakin process. Sometomes more due to a lean condition
-
As long as it is jetted right, the pipes will not turn colors. As far as the price for the pipes...unless you fing a good used set, that is what you are looking to pay from a stealership!!
-
well, since it was not the crack, lets weed out a few other possibilities. Use some thread compound, like plummers tape on the carb top to see if that is the problem. If that is not then check intake boots and seals. Since the motor is an 87, maybe intake boot is tore or cracked . Then i would check base gaskets. let us know what you come up with....we will have this thing rippin by next thurs!!
