So if you pin the throttle it doesnt eventually clear up and run right?? A 158 seems like a pretty lean main jet, maybe your confusing a lean hesitation and a rich bog???
-
Holy shit Scott, I think I laughed for 10 minutes straight over the smiley in your signature. It kinda reminds me of the guy in Saving Silverman with the moped hes always riding around.

Also just saw you dont know how to adjust the needle. Take the cap off the top of the carb and get it somewhere where you can easily see and move the slide. Push the throttle so the spring is compressed all the way, and hold it there so you can get to the inside of the slide. You can see how it is set up where the end of the throttle cable is seated into the nut thing. Just push it down and pull it out the side. Then get I think its a 7 or 8 mm wrench and take off the nut, and the needle will fall out. Adjust the needle and put everything back. It may sound complicated but its VERY easy, Keihin PWK carbs are the easiest I'v ever worked with.

At what point does it clear up and run smooth?? 1/4 throttle, 1/2 throttle?? Try a somewhere around a 42 or 45 on the pilot, and maybe go a clip leaner on the needle.

Can you list the mods done to your ex? -
I am selling my mx race ready Banshee. I have been building and prepping this quad from day one to race, but it has never been raced. All my time is tied up in bikes now and I never get to ride this anymore. Aftermarket parts: FMF Gnarlies, v-force reeds, reed spacers, wisesco pistons .020 over, stage 3 mx port, noss cool head, 20cc domes, Keihin 35mm carb w/ Trinity CV intake(2 into 1), hinson clutch, uni clamp on, HSD racing +3 A-arms(long travel), Elka triple rate fronts, dual back, durablue +4 axle, denton steering stabilizer, -2 footpegs, shifter, brake pedal, dg nerfs, renthals, graydon bumper and grab bar, number plates, pro designs tether, douglas rims (beadlock rears), and mx holeshots all around. The top end was rebuild no more than 20 hours ago, and I changed the oil after every 2 rides. This thing handles better than ANY 250r or new 450 I have ever ridden. All it needs is a rider. I am located in Central IL. $4700, BO. Will also consider trades for CRF450 or YZF450 dirtbikes. [email protected]

I saw it last night and thought it was hilarious. You kinda have to have the right kind of sense of humor to like it, because it is so stupid its funny. Probably just as funny or funnier than Anchorman but a different kind of humor. Definitely go see it.

I also had to help take care of a friend a couple nights ago. He drank a pint of Captain Morgan in 20 minutes, and had been drinking before that. That was the worst case of alcohol poisoning I had ever seen. He is 16 so we thought we would be in deep shit, but one of our friends parents is a nurse and we stayed at their house and she took care of him.

using -2 footpegs AND aftermarket nerfs
FoxBansheeRacing replied to Minkia38's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Minkia- I think it was you I sold my Graydons to when I got the -2 pegs. The only kind of bars that will work are the ones that bolt of right to the original peg holes in the frame. I tried rigging something for them to work, but it was never looked safe or sturdy enough to try. -
For mx definitely run 18 inch rears. The quad will have a lower center of gravity, so it will handle better, and it will accelerate and brake better. On the front, some people say the smaller front tires, like 19's, seem to find ruts much easier, I have never tried them so I dont know, but I run 21's and have no complaints.

Little E is Dale Earnhardt Jr. He was practicing for the 24 hour Le Man's race I believe, and crashed into the wall in a high speed corner. Pretty much as soon as it hit the wall it caught on fire and I have heard he has extensive burns on his face and lower body.

Where do you guys stand on piercings? Any of you have them? I am thinking about getting a cartilage piercing but would like to know what other people think of them.

We did the humping thing last Haloween, but with these big blow up suits. One was a balarena(sp?) and the other was a sumo wrestler. If they were real people they would be like 400lbs. The hilarious part was the balarena had a skirt thing on, and while little kids would be up at a house getting candy we would be standing in the road lifting up the skirt doing it doggy style.

Breaking In The Top End?
FoxBansheeRacing replied to SilverBullit's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Everyone has a different opinion, some say just go ride it, some will say to ride it easy for 4-5 tanks. Here is what I do: start it and let it idle until the cylinders get hot to the touch, then shut it off, let if cool all the way down, then go ride it for about 10-20 minutes not going past 3/4. Let it cool completely again, and retorque the base and head bolts. Ride it easy for the next tank or 2, not going past 3/4 throttle for more than about 5 seconds. After all thats done, let her scream. -
I have learned this the hard way, if your looking for the best low end you could possibly get, dont even bother trying different twin pipe setups, just go straight for the 2 into 1 and save yourself the money and headache. If you just cant sacrifice all that top end, the next best is, from what I hear, PTR mids, and I think my Gnarlies have awesome bottom end too.
-
Even putting around it should not foul the plugs if you have it jetted right. Drain the gas if its old and clean the carbs up real good. If that doesnt fix it banchetta will know what to do.
-
If your head is stock and you dont have any other compression mods, yeah it will most likely run like crap on straight race gas. Thats because its such high octane the motor wont be able to burn it all, just run anywhere between 93 octane and a 93 octane and race gas mix, but I wouldnt waste the money on race gas on a stock shee.
