  1. I use the seam on the float bowl as a reference. I'll turn the carb upside down and set the float so the seam is parallel w/the carb housing. This is a good starting point, but only use it a a refrence to get started.
  2. Ran an LRD adj. on my '88R. Good fit and no leaks. Sounded good, but not obnoxious. Have FMF's on my shee now and can't complain about them.
  3. Looks like you beat me to it led.
  4. About 20 miles west of Odessa Tx. GO to mapquest.com. The dunes are about 10-15 miles ne of kermit on 115
  5. My mistake on the manufacturer. Its Denton not Duncan. I'll try to get a pic posted later today.
  6. Thanks for the info. Little Sahara is great, but getting a little crowded. I think were going to try for Kermit over The kids spring break. End of March
  7. Has anyone been to the dunes outside of Kermit Tx? How big is the riding area? Does it get very busy? Best time to go? Any info will help.
  8. Need a little info about aftermarket shifters. I have what I think is a Duncan racing shifter. It was given to me a while ago. It looks like it mounts to the swing arm bolt and has a couple of hiem joints used to hook it to the shifter. The nut used to attach the shifter to the swing arm bolt is sealed in the shifter end and is somewhat snug turning. It is worth the time to install?
  9. Last winter was my first back in cold country after a few years in sunny Cali. Had 927 in my "88 R. I also learned the hard way about separation. It's still the best I've used, just a little more of a hassle thats all.
  10. I know guys that run AV gas in all their toys w/no problems. If you can believe what they write in the magazines. They say the drying agents needed to run at high altitudes are hard on engines not designed for it. Don't know for sure, but I run VP w/no problems. Figure my toys cost enough, I don't need to take the chance. My $.02
  11. I agree w/Tim C. Check the bore in case someone has bored the carb. In this case the ID numbers would be incorrect.
  12. Rejetted stock carbs. I'll give the new plunger a try.
  13. This is my 1st go around w/Mikuni's. My other Banshee's have had Kehiens on them. The choke won't stay all the way out on my mik's. Is this a common problem? It there a fix for this? The choke will stay out on the 1st step sometimes. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  14. Ran the Trinity system on my 1st banshee. Once it was jetted I never touched it again. This system is awesome. As soon as there is a spare $450 laying around I'll put it one the new shee.
  15. Can you send or post a pic of the paddles? Where are you located so I can figure shipping. You can email me @ [email protected].
  16. 2nd banshee I've run on alcohol. Both set of carbs came set-up from FTZ. Both are modded about the same. ported, pipes, heads and cranks trued and welded. You can run smaller carbs, but you need to jet way up. Then air flow is a problem. You gotta get the air to burn all the extra fuel.
  17. I run alcohol in my banshee now. You'll need to go w/at least a set of 39-40mm carbs. Usually best to figure about a 1/3 larger than gas. Your fuel consumtion will also be greater. I have two sets of carbs for my shee and switch back and forth. No real mods needed for the alky carbs. I know guys that use the same intake boots, but you'll have to really stretch them to get the carbs on. I don't recommend this. The performance gains in my opinion are worth it. For the sand and draggin' it can't be beat. For trail riding I run the gas carbs. Were usually out quite a while and running alcohol I need to carry extra fuel or go back to refill. After running the alcohol you will need to purge it from the engine if it is going to sit for any length of time. The alcohol is hard on seals and o-rings. I have a small purge tank I fill w/my regular pre-mix and run it through. Warm up time is considerably longer w/alcohol. On cool damp mornings you may get a light frost on you intake tract. Just make sure the shee is good and warmed up before you take off and you'll be fine. Sorry this was so long. Just my .02$
