#27.5 or 30 pilot, and a #300 main if you have the air box lid on, 320 with lid off. This is just an approximate starting point. Read the section in BenBs jetting FAQ about doing a "Plug Chop" and reading your plugs to get it fully dialed in. I find that you can run a stock banshee pretty rich on the main and it will still run fine, maybe down 1 or 2 HP but pulls good and your motor is safe. Going too lean on the mains leads to overheating and if you ignore the signs of running really lean and crappy and keep riding it hard... Captain! If it gets any hotter she's going to blow!

They were talking about the new Paris Hilton video on a Sacromento area AM talk radio morning show. One of the DJ's said that they went into a Adult intertainment strore and saw the video, which was already for sale, playing on a TV. They said it was edited from somthing like 10hrs of video boiled down to about 1 or 2 hrs of good stuff. They said it looked like a professionaly filmed porno that was produced and intended to be sold as a porno and in now way could have just been made for Paris's private collection unless she is just that much of a freak. They said that it was definitly her and not a look-a-like. No more bad lighting and lots of skinny twig on the end of a stick action. I'm with ya 76179, I'd hit it!

GSXR 600, 1000, or harley davidson?
Ducman replied to German Shepherd's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Ah yes, I too was once in your same exact position, 18 and lookin for a hot rod. Let me tell you exactly what you should do. The best bang for your buck conscerning reliability, comfort, performance, and maintenance is an year from early to late 90's CBR 600. They can be ridden hard and put away wet every day and remain rock solid on reliability as long as they are resonably maintained and not wrecked hard enough to damage the frame. I had one that I rode untill 40K miles. The cam chain needs replacing around not too long after 40K which is expensive though. Thats where I started and now I ride a Ducati 996. If you don't want to cary full coverage, you definitly don't want to spend more than about $3K (unless your rich) because if you don't want full coverage you mest be prepared to possibly loose all the money you've invested in the event you total the bike. If you have a lot of 2 wheel dirt experience then you will make the transition to crotch rocket quickly. Be careful in parking lots, slow speed turning in an oily surface can put you on your ass real eas. Also look in Dennis Kirk, MAW, or other online motorcycle warehouse type sales and get an inexpensive full leather 2 piece suit, gloves, boots and helmet. You can put together a full set of AGV riding gear for like $750. You will walk away from most wrecks where you dont hit any object without a scratch with leathers, otherwise even a low speed crash in Levis jeans will result in some nasty road rash. Yes, been there done that, don't make that mistake. You also need to learn to "turn off" the agressiveness of your riding when it would be stupid to haul ass like when in town or in a parking lott. Save it for the rural back roads or beter yet, at a track. As for Harly's -
Chrome FMF SST Pipes and Silencers $350 Shipped

We'll shorties finally sent my stock bored carbs only like 5 weeks after I got my motor. Needless to say, I have already bought 34mm Mikunis Flat slides and I'm pretty happy with them so I'm selling the stock carbs. They are off my 04' banshee and still set up for the stock TORS system. They have been bored to 28mm and looks to be nicely done. Some other surfaces on the intake side appear to be ported for better flow as well and it doesn't appear to be bored too much as to let air around the slide either. I never installed the TORS removal kit so they don't have the idle screws installed but that wouldn't be very difficult or expensive to do especially if you've already done it before. If interestood, let me know if you want the stock slides/needles, stock thumb throttle W/ cables and TORS all still hooked together included as well. This is an excellent mod for any stock or ported Banshee vs using stock carbs. The carbs have #30 pilots and #320 mains installed now. If you know what size mains you want, I have about every size from 260 to 320 and I'll install the size you want. I have #25 and #30 pilots. I'm asking $85 shipped. See pics. I also have the stock reed cage, with Boysen power reeds that were ran for about 4 monthes. Will send stock rev plates too. $25 shipped. Stock carb boots, perfect condition (connects carbs to airbox) $15 shipped Stock intake manifold, perfect condition (connects carbs to cylinders) $15 shipped The whole lot for $125 shipped. PM, post or e-mail [email protected] I accept paypal or M.O. Thanks, Zack

I'm taking her home on Friday! I've been contemplating the many ways so smoke off the 4 year old tires that are still on it with oh so much donor tread. But then alas I checked the price and options for tires and decided on one short but intence smoky burnout just to celebrate. 295-45-18 Goodyear Eagle F-1's is more expensive than having a pair of Haulers on each corner! A new set of 20"s might be in order. Best of all it is just in time to haul my newly awakened (yes humpty dumpty is finally back together and kicking ass) 4mm stroker Banshee to Sand Mountain. AAAAAAH Hell yeah! Life is good! Uh huh Uh huh!

I like the sound bite where Kerry says "Would that it were, would that it were." WTF it that supposed to mean? I also like when they play the specific statements made by Kerry about Iraq that are 100% contradictory to eachother which are part of his flip flop fopar. Sadam poses an imminent threat to the safety of the US, Sadam did not pose an immenent threat. Kerry, get back to us when you figure out which way you want to go. All I want to know is who out there would vote for Ted Kenedy for president? Well guess what Kerry's voting record in congress is to the left of Kenedy's. They read a long long list of his voting record on the radio and I was amased, this guy votes as liberal as it gets. He's part of the Dem. group that will vote against anything that is brought to the table by Reps. Furthermore, he votes for just about any tax increase that was ever concieved. Kerry and Edwards in 04'

We'll I put a deposit on the lightening. The truck was immaculent. Everything about the truck looked brand new which was amazing for a 2000. The cold air intake/filter and aftermarket MAS W/chip was a very nice set up. The chip was programable with software and an interface/datalogger that you could hook up to the computer, download programs, and then upload it to the chip which could be used to change the timing/fuel air curves and transmission shift points, rev limiter, top speed govener, ect. very cool shit. The truck drove like a dream, very firm suspension, yet very quite with a smooth ride. Surprisingly it drove as calm as a kitten, not touchy on the throttle at all untill you got past about 1/2 throttle and then things start to happen. I think I poped a chub when I heard the whine out of the supercharger the first time. It's one hell of a sick ass noise, every bid as cool as a hard spooling turbo. The original owner must have pussy footed the thing around because it had the original tires with tons of tread left on them... or at least there was untill I test drove it. Hehehehe. That sum bitch would light the tires up like crazy if you stomped on it and it shifted down hard into first, even when you were already going around 25mph. I left a couple of nice black streeks. I just can't wait to get it in my driveway. Damb bank makes the whole transaction a slow pain in the ass.

Oops, I ment to put that it is a year 2000 lightening not 2002.

I'm reviving this topic cause I found a lightening that I'm going to buy unless a tree falls on it in the next few days or somebody slaps some sense into me. It's a 2002 lightening with 12K miles on it. It is supposed to be in mint condition. He says there is only one paint/rock chip in the front bumper the size of a pin head and it's always been garaged. He got it from a family man that now has 2 kids so cant drive the truck with the Family. He was asking $23,500. Blue book retail is 23,995, private owner value is 21,195. I got him to take $22000 but I have to go look at it first. The guy that has it is like a dealer, has a dealers liscense, just doesn't own a car lot or anything like that. He buys cars at auctions and when he finds smoking deals and resells them. The truck is in Sonoma CA which is in the ritzy wine contry. Lots of rich folks with nice shit. I'm going to look at it tomarrow. What do you think? Am I paying too much? I'm sure you Chevy guys will say yes. I did some research on Lightenings and found that the 98-02 lightenings along with all ford 5.4L motors have a problem with spitting out spark plugs. There is only 5 threads in the head holding the plug in. Consequently the plugs loosten easily and when they get down to 2 or 3 threads the compression blows them right out. This is even worse on the Lightening since it is supercharged making cylender pressures way higher than the typical 5.4 motors. Supposedly this typically happens when the plugs are recently installed and are put in too loose or overtightened causing the threads to be over stressed. I'm almost considering installing a new set of plugs and putting blue lock tight on the plugs if and when I get the sucker home, but then I'll probably cause the threads to strip the next time removing the plugs. Is anybody familiar with this problem? My friend says that all of the ford V-10 trucks in the fleet of delivery trucks at his work have spit plugs too. Other things that I found out were that the specks on the motors are essentially the same (bore, stroke ect) but in 02' they started using beefier rods and in 03' they made the webbing in the block befier and vented the block. They went from 360 to 380 HP in 01' but it was essentially just different tuning and a different MAS. The oly other thing was that they started raising the back a couple inches and putting in bigger springs in back on the 03 or 04's to increase the load capacity from 950 to 1250 lbs. Most take out the block in back and lower them back down. The truck I'm, looking at has a a very nice mod. Its a MAS conversion to some other higher flow MAS, a Power comander III chip, and a cold air intake and filter. From the info I read a higher flowing filter and a chip is good for a solid 30 HP on this year lightening so it should easily be pushing 390 HP. Add a crank pully to get the supercharger up to 8 lb of boost and this muthu will be well over 400HP. The stock tires are supposed to typically wear out at 15K so I'm guessing baby'll need a new pair of shoes too, damb it. What do you all think? Get it? It's red and I really can't resist red unless someone holds me back! PS, getting a used car loan through a bank is a pain is the ass even when you easily qualify for the loan. I'm having home mortgage loan flashbacks.

I didn't see what your air filter setup was but if water isn't an issue maybe try some K&N pod style filters for some more air flow. If you want bigger carbs motocarrera.com has 28mm flat slides for about $100 ea. Maybe a prodesign or boss intake manifold designed to go with your V-force reeds. I'd also say chances are good that you could still use your stock jugs for a stroker, maybe send them to a builder just to find out. But you said less expensive mods, strokers don't fall in the cheap category.

How I understand it is the 3's have the same reed on the inside and out, the 2's have different reeds on the outside VS inside. The inside reed is suposed to open easier for better response but cant open very far and the outside reed is stiffer but opens farther for top end. The 3's achieve the same effect I believe by using different rev plates on inner and outer reeds. They should be theoretically the same. I know on the 2's you can adjust the rev plate to lessen the stiffness on the reeds at the expense of shorter reed life and slight risk of failure. That kind of makes me wonder about the 3's reliability having a less stiff reed plate rather than a more limber reed on the inside. The 3's are supposed to be more easily adjustable or finetunable or something. Either way they should be nearly the same performance wise out of the box. Just different adjustability on the reed stiffness. It probably wouldn't be a good idea to mess with the reed adjustments on a machine just used for recreation anyway.

Tell me about it! Make a conservative estimate of how long it will take to do something depending on shops performing work or various parts to be shipped on time and multiply that time by 2 or 3 to get the actual time it will take to get shee up and running again.

No, its about 1.5 hours east of Reno, Nevada on I-50. 25 miles east of Fallon NV

My wife and I along with some friends and cousins are going to Sand Mountain. We are going to stay at the Fallon Casino or a decent hotel. Any reccomendations? My new 4 mm stroker is hopefully going to fire up tonight without any hang-ups and I'll have 2 weeks to get her broke in and jetted. I got some YFZ 450 payback do dish out on thunder hill!

Yeah, thats a cbr 600 turned into a quad. When I first looked at it I thought, how in the hell did that cbr get all the way out here in the sand? Even though it had haulers with like 12 paddles it still seamed squirly going up the hill. The picture was taken at the bottom of Ol' Baldy or some people call it Banshee Hill at Winchester Bay. My wife has a cannon A70, pretty good camera, but a rookie operator. She needed to use a better picture setting or take an MPEG like you said. I'm not sure how to capture a still out of a movie though.

You know your tickets gonna cost ya a few bucks when it makes the national news. I hit 160 at the top of 5th on my Ducati 996. I feel comfortable in the 80 - 120 mph range. But not at 130 on up, it is like beyond the point of safe return if you get one of those Aw shit moments.

Any legal experts here? Q's about felons &
Ducman replied to Holyman's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Is anybody actually in favor of illegal immigration and open uncontrolled boarders? 99% of the people in here will say no, I'm sure. So why in the hell can't we get our politicians and law enforcement to do anything about it? Hollyman - If you actually had both of their social security #'s you could run a credit and background check and it would all show up, without it you may have to do a little more research, but I guarentee the info is all in a database that you can access somewhere. My dad owned a dairy for 30 years, recently sold out and retired. He would never hire illegal labor because there is supposed to be fines and penalties for hiring illegals. His employees with green cards, I assume or at least my dad thought they were legitimately legal, would claim 10 dependants on their W4 tax form so they weren't paying any income taxes to the federal gov when they were actually single. My dad called the IRS and told them this to make sure he wouldn't get in any trouble for not paying the correct tax portion of their wages to the feds and they said there was nothing he could do and that it wasn't any of his business. The argument that illegals don't collect their tax returns so they pay more than their fair share of taxes because they can't file a return with a fake SSN is BS. They don't pay in shit and if one family out of 6 has a baby or is injured without insurance that eats up ALL of the tax money they did pay in leaving you and me to pick up the bill for the rest of their social benifits, fixing the roads, infrastructure, sending their kids to school, ect. And who will pick our fruit and vegtables? Answer; somone, no one, or a machine, and I don't give a shit which one. I'd pay another $1 a lb for tomatoes and save a $20 on insurance premuims and medicare that didn't have to pay to cover what non insured illegals drain out of the system. Make a law that migrant workers pay 40% of thier income to taxes, social security, medicare, insurance, ect. like the rest of us and if they are legit then they'll get a nice tax return, if not well then they will just barely pay for themselves and not rape our system. Otherwise close the boarder and start deporting. Sorry Holly, didn't mean to hi-jack your post, just feel very strongly about this subject. -
Uploaded at last! First pic is wheelie the dune face. Second pic is gettin some air. Its kinda blurry, but the only good one the wife got with the stupid digital camera. It took like 2 seconds to snap a shot so half the time I was already landed or just taking off and good focus was about 50% of the time. Remember Sesame St? Which one of these things is not like the others? Which one of these things is not quite the same?

I'm not sure how it works but if you buy a bike in Oregon where there's no sales tax and have it in your name for 90 days and then tranfer the registration to CA you don't have to pay sales tax or any fees above the typical CA registration. You might do a little research, check into it and take a little vacation to OR to go quad shopping. I know you can get a fine for riding it in CA with no registration or and Oregon sticker after 10 days of owning it. I was told by a guy I work with that he's done it, although he mainly only rides the OR doons, and there is a Yamaha dealer in North Bend / Coos Bay area that makes killer deals out the door besides not having to pay the sales tax.

I don't have a ton of experience with a lot of pipe brands but I really liked my Rockets on my stock port motor. I think they have the best bottom end and mid range of any high Rev pipe, not to mention killer top end. You just have to do a little fender trimming to make them fit but once I installed them I loved the look of the fat buldging pipes comming throug the fenders. I went from FMF Gnarlies to Rockets and have no regrets. I'm sure they will kick ass when I fire up the new 4mm stroker in a few days.
