  1. send me the pics and I'll post them for you.
  2. Thanks to everyone for their input. Yamahammer, I may just take you up on that offer. Very generous, thank you. You're about 2 -2.5 hours from me I think. I'll PM you about it.
  3. Good info. I was under the impression you could get Red Labels for example in any of the above stated thicknesses. I slump corrected.
  4. I would absolutely love to make this trip. Never been to Dumont, and the chance to meet all these personalities is tempting to say the least. My wife's due date is roughly a week before this. I've worked the numbers and the divorce attorney alone would break me. Have fun.
  5. Definitely let us all know where you'll be camping. I didn't have a trip planned then but I'm always looking for an excuse.
  6. Yeah they are. Hey since this topic seems like a closed book - I think I'll hijack it. Can anyone tell me the difference between Douglas Red Label, Blue Label and Black Label rims. ...and don't say thickness of the aluminum.
  7. There's got to be a law against shipping something like that across state lines.
  8. After much deliberation, I have decided to go with the v-8 suggestion. Here are some shots without the rear plastic. It looks like the right rear sub-frame bent just forward of the seat mount. The powder coat is cracked there and the brace itself is slightly twisted. Not as bad as the cooler rack makes it look though.
  9. Shit. Not the answer I was looking for. They are appreicated none the less. It isn't insured so that one's out. Here are some pics anyway:
  10. OK. I took a day trip out to Glamis this weekend and came home with some new issues. I was on a ride in the big dunes coming downhill in some soft sand. I wasn't really riding a wheelie, but I was on the gas and the front tires were off the ground and it was a tight section. I let off the gas to set the front tires back down so I could steer. The tires were turned slightly when they came down, they just dug deep into the sand and I went up and over the bars and the bike catwheeled afer me. When the bike came to a rest on it's side, I pulled it over and started to reattach my whip. I noticed that the cooler rack was sitting kinda funny. I stepped back and the cooler rack is sitting at a 45 degree angle to the right. I look closer and it looks like the whole rear end of the bike is leaning to the right pretty noticeably. Enough so that the seat leans noticeably to one side. The bike looks like it twisted the frame. My question now is: What options do I have to fix this? I haven't had to deal with frame issues before. Has anyone here straightened thier rear frame before? How can I do it? The only advice I got from my group was to crash it on the other side.... thanks
  11. This goes for sand riding as well. I wasn't really riding a wheelie, but the front tires were off the ground and I'm heading downhill in a tight section, I let off the gas to set the front tires back down so I can steer. The tires are turned slightly and they just dig into the sand and I'm up and over and the bike is catwheeling afer me. As for me, I got away with some really sore ribs - gotta love the sand. The bike looks like it twisted the frame. My cooler rack now sits at a 45 degree angle when looking at it from the back and the whole bike has a nice slant to the right. Could have been worse.
  12. More PS2 thumb exercise.
  13. That's a shitload of horsepower there. Hope it's all for astrological calculations. That or serving up porn.
  14. Sure you can use it without outerwear. I would guess it would provide slightly better air flow. The outerwear after all IS a filter. Not much of one but... I would not recmmend it though. The samll amont of air flow you would gain woud be more than offset by the extra cleaning youwould have to do on your air filter.
  15. www.cascadeinnovations.com? Are you sure? I couldn't get to it. Lots of nice pop ups though.
  16. I like the thinking here. Start high. Never underestimate stupidity.
  17. Great post. I believe most enviromentalists, although well intentioned, are for the most part uninformed activists fighting a battle they don't understand. I wish it was as simple as showing support for elected officials that show some sort of backbone to these groups. Unfortunately, the general voting public views environmentalism, even radical environmentalism, as a good thing and any hint that you are anti-environment make you evil incarnate. Those groups paint the off-roading community as anti-environment. They never see the large families who enjoy public lands together and respect it like it was their own property. Off roaders are some of the most environmentally conscious people I know. Just take a look at the big MLK Glamis cleanup every year. I like Arnold, and I think he brings a fresh perspective and enthusiasm for public service that we have been missing for some time. I would love to see him use some of his authority to loosen the grasp eco-terrorism holds on California public lands. I have not seen this yet. It's early though. If you want a place to ride, and for your kids to ride, where you live in 10 even 20 years, you should really look closely at what's happening in CA and around the country. Couldn't agree with you more. Many groups have emergerd to repesent the off road community with little success. The eco-terrorists are very well funded (mostly with tax dollars) and well entrenched in the decision making offices that determine land use. I don''t have the answer, and I wish I could be more positive about the whole thing. Sorry for the long post. --END rant.
  18. I just got rid of a 2001 Expedition last month. I would not recommend them. We had the 5.4 engine. Power was decent enough, not great. Towed small loads jsut fine. It sucked gas like crazy - but if you're in the market, that's probably not a factor. It's top heavy and felt like it would roll pretty easily. The tranny on ours went out at 30k (needed new transmission) and from talking to our dealer, that's not all that uncommon. The interior rattled apart, making a loader stereo a must. I would go with the diesel excursion if I had it to do over.
  19. I just put on a set of SSTs with powerCore2 silencers, and am completely stoked with the setup. It's all just personal choice though.
  20. Glamis is huge, but getting smaller every year. I have personally witnessed big chunks of the dunes "closed" to protect the milk weed over the last few years alone. The whole area is roughly 175,000 acres. You can still ride on more than two-thirds of the sand dunes, or over 118,000 acres. Some of big bowls near Gecko are 300-500 ft. from base to razorback. Buttercup and Gordons have smaller dunes.
  21. Just a correction here. Kazaa and Kazaa lite are peer sharing clients. There is nowhere to 'download' or upload it to. The correct way to share it would be to convert the dvd into some video file format (divx, dvd-cd etc), lots of shareware for doing this available on the InterWeb, and then place it in a shared folder while running Kazaa (or some other file sharing client). The file is indexed and becomes searchable from your own file system and people can download it from you. Not that I support video piracy. I say buy it if it's something you want to support. Just thought I'd clarify in case someone was struggling with how to 'share' their bootleg Amsterdamn porn dvd.
  22. justintoxicated, Ever thought about putting your tailight creation into an alluminum casing ala those dim taillights sold on ebay? Might be worth buying one to have a casing model....
  23. 95% dunes. Sea level. FMF SST & powercore II. Airbox run without lid. K&N with outerwear. 330 mains.
  24. This threat has been looming for a while now. Does anyone know where to go to get more information on this? BLM, which is the regulatory agency for the Imperial Sand Dunes in CA is not publicizing anything. I can't bear the thought of riding a four stroke.
  25. 72. I can handle that. I don't much care for it telling me I'm overweight though. f*ck that thing.
