  1. Remind me to never buy a used car from 2001SST
  2. You already have both... But if you're wanting to change them. Well both can be accessed in your controls. The picture under your name is called an avatar. The thing at the bottom of your post is called a signature.
  3. Yeah check the local dealerships, and not just the yamaha one. Its the same thread pattern as pretty much every 2 stroke made in the last 20 years (alba's web site says what thread pattern it is). KTM, Kawi, honda, yamaha...
  4. I agree about staying away from the 250 or 500. If your gonna get a street bike, then a time will come that you'll want to take off quick or take it to the twisties. That little 250 is gonna feel like a mini bike with a briggs and stratton on board. A 600 WILL NOT kill you. Hell a liter bike wouldn't kill you. The thing that will kill is riding beyond your own limits, whether that be on a 250 or any other size bike. Go with a 600.
  5. Paint the plastics before you do any other mods. After all, what good is a cherry paintjob if your going too fast for anybody to see it. Yup, stay stock and slow and look good doing it.
  6. Chozen1 there's enough HQ riders going that you don't have to camp by yourself. I know I wouldn't care if you crashed at my camp and I doubt that anyone on here would feel differently.
  7. Semi off topic. Anyone remember which cheech and chong movie began with them syphoning gas out of a car into a trash can? A trash can that they didn't bother to empty the trash out of. They then carry the trashcan full of gas down the street, dumping gas all over each other. I suddenly got an image of linkster adding gas to his shee and having to pull out chunks of soggy newspaper and plastic cups because they keep clogging the tank.
  8. I agree that the washes are far from ideal, but we're teaming up with Yamahammer and his gang. I don't really care where I camp just as long as I'm not moving several times during the weekend.
  9. maybe imagestation is down.
  10. My wife and I will be there from late afternoon on the 13th to noonish on the 16th. Wash 4, Yellow xterra, yellow 300ex, red/black shee.
  11. If I remember correctly toomy and PTR's require a different size clamp. All the other brands are pretty much standard. Alba has new ones for $40.
  12. I'll be there in a Yellow Xterra with a tiny trailer - red black shee and a yellow 300ex. Pretty hard to miss. Arriving possibly on the 3rd and leaving probably on the 8th. Not really sure yet, I'm just gonna wait and see how early people will be getting there and try to match their arrival with my own. I could potentially be there on the 2nd.
  13. We could always try inviting them to roostfest.
  14. I posted a review of mine under product reviews. Do a search. I had some problems since I don't have disc guards, but even with that it took me maybe an hour and a half or so.
  15. Hahahaha! I totally missed that Stan!
  16. Don't forget that the heat can be almost as bad as the cold. Places like arizona are typically well above 100 all summer long. Socal beaches are nice, but crowded . But the temperature range year round is usually about 55-85. I'm in Redondo Beach right near LAX airport. Pismo is 200 miles, glamis and dumont are both 230 miles. If you ski or snowboard, Big Bear is about 90 miles away and is pretty decent actually. Plus, several days of the year you can board in shorts and a tshirt. San Diego is incredibly nice. Same climate, and just a few hours to glamis.
  17. Naw I like letting karma take care of the assholes. Right now there's an undercover police detective in a pre-teen chat room that Pappy's been talking to for the past 3 weeks trying to set up a meet.
  18. Ok here's the pics that I promised you guys several days ago. The T fitting I used is pretty bulky but after I snapped the nylon one during installation I had to find something in a pinch. That's 3/8" o.d. stainless tubing that comes out of the fitting to attach to the hose: And here's a pic of my inline cooler I mentioned earlier in the thread. Easy mod to do.
  19. The nicest offroad lights I've ever seen are called lightforce lights. lightforce lights check em out. Myself I'm running pro comp 8" with 55w bulbs, slightly better than new stock lights. After I get the stator rewound those things will throw some light! Can't beat it at $48 each.
  20. Actually my wife requested I start this post, and not to rant. She was getting overwhelmed with pm's from people on exriders asking to see the picture that was so offensive. But hey I thought the story was funny so I figured I'd share it.
  21. I left the avatar the same size as it was on exriders to prove my point. How offensive is that? You can't even tell what it is, let alone if it's inapropriate!
  22. I just bought fixitrods pegs on ebay for $20 (just in case you wanted to hear both viewpoints).
  23. Ah okay...thanks for clearing that up.
  24. I had a link posted here to the original thread, but a mod named pappy closed it and it can no longer be accessed. Basically he told my wife that her avatar wasn't appropriate for a family oriented forum and that she needed to change it. My wife replied that she would, but didn't think that it was all that offensive given that she could wear that outfit in public, and that giving people some freedom to express themselves was better than being anal retentive. To which pappy replied, "look if you wanna be a skank that's your business, but I know I wouldn't want my kids to see that picture". This from the guy who has posted under his name, "she looked 18 to me". FYI, my wife's name over there is DirtyGirl. Here's the avatar that Penis, I mean Pappy, was complaining about. She got a bunch of PM's too, first nice, then not so nice. I think the skank comment was worse than the original avatar.
  25. My understanding was that with the +3, you're putting enough added leverage on the shocks that at the very least you'd have to get them revalved. Was I misinformed?
