  1. justintoxicated u didn't happen to be at any of the oregon dunes late last summer were you? i was looking at your banshee pics and it's almost identical to 1 i rode, we switched bikes and drag raced way down the dunes, not on the beach but on wet sand, your dad ans i think uncle had jeeps and they were jumping and oing wheelies in front of your camp? might not be you but it'd be cool if it was, later. ~Mark~
  2. Hey, first i took a stock airbox i bought for 18 bucks from trayfoe, stuck it in with the front plate unbolted, and started cutting around the opening, i basically cut the whole front part off it flush with the sides of the box except for the mounts on each side. which the plastic i cut wider as it got closer to the box for strength...cut the bottom out for the bowl, and it fit, just never use tin snips on plastic like that because whenever u start a new cut it cracks a line in the plastic usually in the wrong direction, i was able to cut away the cracks except 1 which i melted together, anyway it doesn't have a perfect seal, but only about 1/2in. after i clamp the k&n on, by the way this is for a graydon proline setup only, i'm sure it woulden;t work for the trinity setup because it is much shorter, hope this helps somebody out since the rainy season is here, later. ~Mark~
  3. Wow that's a lot of info guys, i agree a lot with mcaf29, i have a lot to take off too...i'll check out the stealership soon for a clymers manual too, that should help in just about everything, good idea on the bags for bolts also, i would figure the engine must weigh more than 100lbs, i recently have been fixing up a couple 50's and those i thought were pretty heavy engine for 50's...i still don;t understand why u would need to take off the belly skid and nerfs though, maybe the front plastic because i haven't cut my fenders yet...Thanks again. ~Mark~
  4. i knew most of that, but you organized it and added more info. thanks, as for the elevation, i'm at about 400' at most above sea level, the guage i was using is a nice 1, so i don't doubt the reading, i also tested my engine hot, for my guage i have to take off the tank and plastic around the tank to use the guage, but it was actually about 8-10psi less when hot...as for the riding it with low compresion, i was wondering where the compresion goes? down towards the crank is my guess, and woulden;t that be a bad thing to have too much pressure down there? Thanks again for all the help ben, later. ~Mark~ P.S.-i've always ran 32:1 yamalube for a while then switched to quicksilver outboard oil, which is cheaper and i haven;t had any problems so far for the 4 months i've ran it...so there shoulden;t be too much friction as compared to a leaner fuel/oil ratio, right? and what would the right amount to oversize it? 1/2mm?
  5. you make it sound easy, which i'm sure it's not totally easy, everything has hard parts, at least for me it;s all going wrong...the electronics basically unplug right? and is there a specific order to unbolt it? do i have to remove the whole front engine mounts so they don;t get in the way later? don;t tell me it;s not heavy, cuz for about a 400lb quad, at least half of that must be engine..Thanks for the help though. ~Mark~
  6. allright i don;t want to takeover the post with my problems, but since you're all here, you said that 110 was low psi, i checked my comp. a few weeks ago, and it read 95psi!! i thought pretty low, plus they're about 7 years old says he guy i bought the bike from, he didn;t even know it was bored .50 over!!, i only ride top-end so i need something in writing that might help convince my dad to let me buy a piston kit...he seems to think it's like a car, 100,000 miles and should still be good..lol....i am not so easily convinced...what problems might come from 95psi?? too much pressure going into the bottom end?? but it starts first kick EVERY time...Thanks in acvance. ~Mark~
  7. how easy and how much time does it take to remove a complete banshee engine? i'm thinking about it soon when i rebuild my top end, just taking the whole motor out and cleaning it all up, Thanks. ~Mark~ P.S.-is there anything to watch out for? and what's the best way to take it out wthout dropping it?? possibly tie it to a small engine hoist and slide it out with minimal damage....
  8. wow i didn't think i'd get any replies, too bad you're all in oergon though, but still cool, last summer we went to all 4 oregon coast dunes for about 3 days each, winchester bay was the best, the one right below it is really cool too, with a big drag hill right at the entrance, it really helped a lot cuz i snapped a chain and screwed up my scrockets and had to only push it about 30 feet...well if any of u guys like lots of logging roads, then come up here, later, Mark. P.S.-yes moses lake is pretty cool, but nothing compared to oregon, you know what they say, the sand is always better on the other side!
  9. Do any of you guys live in washington state, northern oregon, or coastal washington?? i live on the coast of wash. and there is plenty of logging roads here, and if u live close enough, i gotta small track here at my house, just need more riding buddy's, Later. ~Mark~ P.S.- i'm 95% sure i'm going to moses lake sand dunes thanksgiving weekend, maybe we can meet there..........
  10. nice banshee man, with the exception of those pipes...lol, here's a picture of my 87 banshee if it loads...i can't figure out how to post pics, do they have to be on another website then u click there to see them or what? do i have to put it in a different program then insert from there? i don't understand this new system they got.... ~Mark~
  11. hey i got an idea!!!!!!! what if time travel is possible???? i'll tell you all that by october 2003 there will be a new yamaha 450, and honda 450, although honda will be slow on it's release, the predator 500 will be redisigned for 2004 and still pretty crappy, suzuki will buy out kawasaki, and will make both versions of a kfx/z400, i am god, that's about it, we went to war with iraq and now we've just been nuked my the towel-heads and we're all gonna die pretty soon, so have a fun next 1 1/2 years till the world ends, later, Mark.
  12. yeah i know now some things not to do..my dad is going to read it tonight, maybe teach him a thing or 2, Thanks, Mark.
  13. i say 15 shipped to western wash. zip 98520, if u don;t like the price, find out shipping and we'll go from there, if u have AIM catch me on there also, Thanks, ~Mark~
  14. how much for the stock airbox? is it complete or cut? i don't need the filter but it would be ok to look at (i have a graydon 2:1 35mm carb setup with k&N). Thanks, Mark.
  15. Hey, how much for the -1 swingarm and carrier? also interested in the -2 footpegs, and the 2 steering stabilizers. Thanks, Mark.
  16. if you still need em....i got 2 gold annodized wheels off an 87, but were hardly used since the bike mostly saw the sand with paddles all around....but the edges are a little bent down, they are not the newer rolled bead construction but have pretty bald tires on them for like 20 plus shipping..LMK. ~Mark~
