  1. Hey I made me a bumper that resembles one of those armiadillo bumpers except its about 10 lbs instead of 2. but the good thing is it didnt' cost me nothin and since its more weight its gonna help keep the front end down cause of all that power.
  2. i got all the air vents right now....i hope. the one in the back of the tranny is run down through the gap in the swing arm along with the one running from the top of the coolant bottle. they had the two lines running from the coolant bottle in the back; the one on the bottom to the T-section, and the one on the top of the coolant bottle to the top of the radiator. it was all backwards.
  3. Does it hurt anything to use a different kind of premix oil? the previous owner of my banshee allways used klotz benol ( that stuff smells really good ) but its kinda hard for me to get that kind and i've already used the bottle he gave me. I'm kinda thinking about the klotz R-50, klotz super techniplate, bel ray MC-1, or yamalube 2-R. Which one of these are the best?
  4. thanks holyman you just solved my problem. The vent hose that comes from the water pump area IS hooked up to a tee handle, along with the hoses going to the raidaiter overflow. So its been pumping coolant into the case the whole time . I checked the oil seal and its still in good condition but it needs another o-ring. Damn theres no tellin what else this guy did to this shee. I'm glad I only gave $2500 for it. Its a really good deal and I'll put all the mods that on it in my sig later. Oh and holyman, did you really take your engine out just to take that picture???
  5. those are it? Dang, if it were a snake it would have bit me in the face Those hoses on mine are clear. I took them apart on the tee handle thing and blew through them. I just thought that those hoses had to do with coolant cause once of those hoses goes to the overflow bottle. I think the reason It was releasing pressure like that was because it had coolant leaking into the oil when ever it would run and it just built up to fast for the pressure to escape out the vent hoses. I ended up almost draining a gallon of thick white shit out of my gear case, and at the very start alot of water drained out before the oil did.
  6. Thats exactly how I love to ride mine . Just cruzing along down the street, ping a ping a ping ping in third gear then, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I hammer down and the rear end kicks out sideways
  7. Could somebody post a picture of the crankcase vents? i've looked around again and still couldnt find where they are! thx
  8. I found the problem ! The clutch side cover gasket was ripped around the round metal tube where the coolant flows. Oh yea and it already has a billet water impeller haven't found the two case vents yet. I've looked all in my clymer's manual but it doesn't show them. do they have like a hose going to them or something?
  9. Thats sure as hell what it looks like . well I'm gonna go and check out the breather tubes . The coolant level in the tank under the seat has been going down after a while and the oil level in the gear case is higher than when I got it. So what would go wrong to cause water to leak into the gear box? a gasket or seal or what? Is it something easy to fix or do I need to take it somewhere?
  10. Is it normal after you ride around a little and the engine gets up to operating temperature for the case to build up pressure? Like when I unscrew the filler cap it releases pressure.
  11. Could somebody tell me what kind of gear case oil this sounds like? Its white and kinda think, kinda looks and feels like white out. I was gonna change the case oil in my banshee sometime but I don't know what kind of oil the previous owner was using. I think it is a thick 80w oil or somethin similar?
  12. About the pilot jets, I looked at bike bandit and there are about 3 different pilot jets, but none of them look the same as the ones I got. Are they not the right ones? I'm thinking I need a 27.5 or 30, but I don't know for sure.
  13. I forgot to add that the timing has been advanced with a degree key (I think thats what the owner said?) And when I put the carbs back on the bike and started it, it ran a little bit different. It wouldn't hardly idle as good and when i would idle it for a coupe seconds and rev it, a flame or two would spit out, it didn't do that before?
  14. I just got bought me a 2001 banshee but I'm having a few problems with the jetting. Its bored .30 over, wisco pro lite pistons, stock head milled, I think the owner said its been ported and polished but I'm not for sure, bill's pipes, and a pro design air filter (lid still on). When I brought it home and rode it on the road, it would rev fine but it wouldn't idle. Right after the power band would hit and at full throttle, it would loose power and pop and back fire (and sometimes a flame would shoot out the right pipe ) when I would shift to the next gear. The next day I tweaked the carbs a little. It had a 50:1 ratio mix (old gas) allready in the tank, so I drained the tank and put fresh fuel (32:1 this time just to be safe). I played with the air screw a little and adjusted the idle screw on top of the tors thing on top of the carbs. The owner said that he removed the tors thing and the parking brake, but it still has those things on the carbs . So I went back out and rode it again but it still poped and back farted at WOT. So I take it back into my shop and pull the carbs for the first time to check the jets. The owner said that he rejetted for all the mods and stuff, but it still has the stock jets in it! It has 200 mains and 22.5 pilots This thing is so lean, its a wonder it didn't burn the rings off when i test rode it . I'm ording some jets from bike bandit but I dont know what kind and what sizes I need. They have several different kinds of mikuni pilot and main jets but I don't know which one's to get
  15. sweet be sure to take some pics or videos if you can
  16. ok, so would it pretty much be a waste of money gettin these cylinders if you only do trail riding and hill climbing? Would it just be to much power to handle on trails and stuff? Would you still have too much will spin even with good tires? And I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to drag race friends and stuff on an asphalt road with out a wheelie bar, the front would come up in every gear
  17. Look at those tires! they look bad ass on that shee. talk about trail riddin and hill climbin
  18. I was wondering if it was possible to put a tachometer on a banshee. I mean like a small one that you could get for a car or truck. How exactly would you hook up the wires??
  19. I just downloaded that movie and I gotta say, they sound very good. At idle, they sound better than any other pipe/sliencer combo I've ever heard. ring ding ding all the way . One question though, did you have to change your jetting in any way when you switched sliencers? Oh and if you have the time, AverageJoe, could you make another video jammin through the gears or givin' er hell or somethin? I bet it sounds bad ass .
  20. I got an HPI Savage. Its pretty tough, had several hard hits and stuff with it and still nothing is wrong with it. Only problems I've had was a rope break on the pull start and the occasionall spur gear to wear out, but thats normal. Its shaft driven 4 wheel drive. And plus I can make it 2wd in just 5 minutes by taking out the drive shafts . 2wd makes it alot easier to do dounuts and wheelies.
  21. would a blaster have close to the same effect if you put a fmf fatty with toomey sliencer on it? my friend's blaster has a toomey pipe and sliencer and he could get a fmf fatty pipe somewhere, so maybe he could try it.
  22. sorry to invade on this topic, but what does it mean to "true and weld" a crank? When you say weld do you mean like mig or tig weld it? Cause we got a really good welding class at school and some mig and tig welders. Can anybody who knows how to weld do this or does it take someone who knows about crankshafts?
  23. Could someone post an audio clip or movie of the fatty's with toomey silencers? Just thinking about it sounds good
  24. Uhh The raptor fronts look like shit in my opinion. The damn fenders are almost higher than the gas tank in the side view. I think they would be better if you cut the front fenders off, that way you wouldn't have giant ears stickin out. But the rears look pretty sweet.
  25. How good is an extended swing arm for trails and stuff? By extended, I mean like +4 or smaller. I also gots lots of steep hill climbs on my trails that are pretty straight and long, good to race up and stuff. What about flat trackin, and just playin around? I got me this little flat track set up in the field with lots of little 45, 90, and 180 degree turns where you can just pin the throttle and slide around them. Is it harder to slide with a longer swing arm?
