Yeah that's it. They say there's supposed to be a trail that goes from the lake over to Apex, but i havn't checked it out. Maybe one day i'll pick up a GPS and strap on an extra gas can and check it out. [pucker face] you can say that again [/pucker face]...... Oh by the way, I picked up a cheap (8 bucks) whip from Cycle Gear today. It was that or 45 bucks for one that had flames on the flag and a cute little blue light on the top run off a 9v battery.... It's no Bud tapper, but it'll do for now...

I used to run Water Wetter in my R1 when i took it to the track. I got tired of changing the coolent all the time (between street and track riding) and just left it in. it did run a lot cooler w/ it in. I've also been using it in the banshee. I don't know if it runs any cooler(no temp gauge), but it hasn't over heated on me....(knock on wood) A friend of mine told me to try Engine Ice instead of water wetter. Said it had something in it or prevented something that water wetter didnt have. (?) I just bought a jug, but havnt had the bike out since.

Yeah it's alright....We usually ride just outside of town, up by the Air Force base. A little place called Apex (some call it Nellis dunes, after the AF base). It's not all that big in the first place, then you add the 4X4's and people that go horse back riding out there...Kinda makes for close quarters...but it's a place to ride..... Anybody ever mention how addicting this site is??!!!!!

I think black would go great with your white and red bike.. I saw a frame painted/powdercoated(??) "team yamaha blue" (the darker blue they use on the street bikes) once, and it looked really good... get a picture up and see if anyone has photoshop..

Yeah I'm going to keep it simple (for now at least). That 3 day weekend is right around the corner and don't wanna end up not being able to ride because of something simple like this...(first time to the dunes, can ya tell... ) Once again thanks for the info guys! I sure am glad your not charging me. I'd have to get a 2nd job, or sell the bike....all the questions i've been asking.... Duece nice whip/tapper...that thing pull double duty?!!!..

I didn't even think about that....... I was worried about ripping a paddle off. I didnt know what kind of damage i would do to the tires by rolling the bike across concrete and up the ramps. Thanks for the tip evil! That's something i didn't even think about either. I havn't even put the tires on yet. Thanks Cotton eyed Joe.

I need to get a whip and was wondering what to look for, and what to stay away from. As far as flags go, can i use pretty much whatever, or is there a certin color (colors) that i have to stick with? and lastly, what are you guys using to attach it to the bike? regular nut and bolt or some kind of "quck release"?
-
Thanks guys. i wasn't really sure, and didnt wanna chance it. thanks again.

Powder coating seems to be the way to go...or you could LINE-X it (spray in bed liner) You can even get in the color of your choice!!........ .......

I can't imagine that loading the bike into the truck/trailer w/ the paddles on is good for the tires. So how do you guys do it? Do you just put 'em on after you get to your ride spot or????
-
Thanks Duece. Yep, thought about that. She'll be there.....it'll give me something to do for the rest of the weekend if i run out of fuel..... .....
-
right on. Thanks for the link!

I really like the candy apple red that yamaha's been using on the new bikes lately. black or blue seem to go good w/ anything.
-
Cool thanks. OK 2 more questions. How much fuel do you usually use in an avg. weekend? I know it'll depend on how much riding i do, but what's a "safe"amount to bring? I dont want to end up running out mid weekend. If i end up roughing it, and have to sleep in a tent. Is there somewhere to secure it to the ground? < That might seem like a silly thing to ask, but i'm just thinking that "sand" wont hold the spikes.... Oh one last thing...is there a fee at Dumont? Thanks again guys...

WHAAAT?????!!!!!!!......... no one ever said anything about changing the power bands when i bought it..... [throwing arms up in defeat] that's just great. i wonder what esle they forgot to tell me[/throwing arms up in defeat].....

Yeah, that's the one. His helmet and gear are also B&W Camo. I tried looking a little closer to see the "women" but can't make it out all that well (must be old age creeping up on me.. ) but if it is Skins' graphics, even better!!!!.. Anyone have a link for the graphics? Hey sredish, do a little rock crawlin do ya?.. (nice!) Maybe one day my Dodge'll have a little more flex..(fingers crossed)

In the Feb issue (on page 108) there's a pic of a black and white camoflage banshee. I not a big fan of camo, but i think the black and white color scheme looks really good on the bike. Has any- one seen (or done) this before?

I'm heading to Dumont President's day weekend w/ a group of friends. This will be my first trip. What are some things (that are a must) that i should bring? Clothing??(besides riding gear) fuel/oil, how much? (average) tools? spare parts? chemicals/coolant/cleaners? food/drinks? chairs? cash?? I have paddles, and am getting a whip. I've been told that my bike should run fine(no rejetting required) because Dumont and Las Vegas are pretty much the same. Anything else i might need for the bike? Any adivce/tips/secrets would help..I just don't want to NOT be able to ride because i forgot/broke something. One last thing. I know Cali has some kind of off road vehicle registration sticker thing. Am i going to have to get a "weekend pass" of some sort, or shold i not worry about it? thanks for any help here.
-
Are they all pretty much the same? Is there one that you guys would recomend over others? or is this a personal pref thing like pipes? thanks
-
I'll 2nd that! Although my banshee is mostly stock, i have gotten a ton of useful info from this site. Thanks guys!!...

The over all length is about 10 1/4" , body itself is only like 7", width of the body w/ bracket is 3 1/4" , w/ out 2 3/4". I have a few pics of it, but am not able to DL them right now. maybe by tomorrow i can have a few up.

As long as we're on the subject......I have an Ohlins damper (off my old street bike) Does anyone make an aftermarket bracket so i can use it on the banshee?

How To Get Old Stickers Off And How To .....
Otis replied to bignasty1's topic in Banshee Appearance
Goof Off's some pretty strong shi....be careful it'll dull/fade paint real easy. I've used Goo Gone on my street bike and truck for years. Works good and no fading or dulling. If ya live in the South West leave your bike out in the sun for a few hours, that'll get your stickers to come off easier... ... -
THanks guys, that helps a lot. (tires are coming in w/ the pipes) and hopefully in the near future..suspension upgrades. thanks again
