  1. If you ride in sand only, K&N pods with Outerwears. If you ride mud, box with Uni filter.
  2. You could also fab some brackets to re-atach your front fenders to the quad. It works best if you cut them at the body line where the fender curves up and away from the tank. Bend some flat stock steel or aluminum to match the angle and drill holes to match the bolts for the front bodywork and through the fenders to attach the brackets too. When you do it right all you have todo to re-attach your fenders is to back out the bolts that hold the fender at either side of the tank, slide the bracket back in, screw the bolts back in, re-attach the fender supports to the frame (they can be left attached to the fenders). It only takes like 5 minutes to have fenders again. I'll try to get some pics soon to better describe what I'm saying.
  3. Cotton Eyed Joe, Jumping the top of Thunder Mtn at WOT, ewww. NOT COOL that dune is always steep on the backside, and its a long way down.
  4. You shoulda known you'd get hammered for saying that here. I honestly think the YFZ and the TRX 450s are the Banshee and the 250R of the new generation of quads. The two that no one else will be able to compete with without going rediculously overboard on displacement.
  5. Sounds like you might need to adjust the air screws.
  6. Ouch!! That had to be a sick feeling watching your baby roll down the hill.
  7. Sidi Flex Force, wore them on my bike right out of the box and loved them... no didn't see how I ever ride without them. The only complaint is that the pivots squeak when you walk around in them. When I'm riding with my friends, as soon as we get back to camp everyone else can't get out of their boots fast enough, I just leave mine on they are that comfortable. Also damn near the whole boot is replaceable; all the buckles, the whole sole, the shin guard, and the heat shield. They are also the only boots I know of you can customize the color of by mixing and matching the components.
  8. reas11, That looks sweet, just the look I was going for. I think I'm going to have the main frame PC'd red too. Where do you ride, just so I don't run into you with pretty much the same quad?
  9. We usualy make it up to St. Anne's a few times a year. The last time I had my Banshee there I killed it and I'm just taking the down time to REALLY re-build it (I've still been riding though, I also have an RM250 which I usually ride). I had the stinger separate from my left spark plug and tear the living crap out of the piston, dome, and cylinder. So I said screw it and am waiting to move to start a full teardown/re-build of the whole bike. I'm thinking PC'd frame, +2 A-arms, 2+2 rear axle, Trinity CV intake, either Trinity Stage IV or TR T6 pipes, and new plastic/graphics.
  10. Ok this one caught my eye, I was looking at getting the 35mm CV kit for mine with a Stage IV pipe. Would I have a problem with it being too fat with this setup; K&N filter pod w/Outerwears, Boysen Rad Valves, stock porting (may get porting in the future), Cool Head w/18cc domes all running at about 4800ft in elevation almost entirely in the dunes. I wanted to error on the big side, but with guys having problems with it being too fat at like 600ft eleation, I'd hate to see it 3/4 of a mile higher...
  11. Ok this is for anyone with the Skin Industries Freeride graphics on their ride. I need to know if the background on this graphic is red or if it is clear with the plastic showing through. I reason I'm asking is I want to get the red kit to go on black plastic when I change the yellow radiator cowl to a red one (the rest of the quad is black. I think it would look better with the red kit than the black and white one. http://www.skinindustries.com/shop/media/i...banshee_red.jpg
  12. Joe, Yeah it looks like it. I'll assume you spend most of your time riding at Jericho, thats where the infamous incident happened. Thats why I really hate the newer style of gas cans with the rigid black spouts, I miss the ones with the flexible clear ones so you can see the gas in the tube.
  13. Hi guys I'm new to the site but not new to riding, I just saw this forum and thought it would be a worthy first post. Last summer I took my Banshee out for a day of riding in the dunes and while doing the ritualistic mixing of gas I got distracted. As things turned-out I put two shots of oil in one of the cans I was mixing and none in the other. The next day I went riding and the 'shee seemed to be running pretty good but kinda hot... Guess which can I used first, yep the straight gas. Seized the left piston and tore the crap out of the right one, had no clue untill I drained the tank and noticed the gas wasn't pink (I used Klotz at the time, I've since switched to Redline). Two Racelight pistons down the drain and it took .020 of honeing to smooth the cylinders. Ever since I always triple check that there is in fact oil in the gas before I fill the tank. Please someone tell me I'm not the only person to have ever done this.
