  1. Will you really get great gains in top end by boring stock carbs? Or is it better to by a set of PWK 30 on ebay. Is it hard and/or expensive to bore stock carbs? The reason I'm asking is cause I have port work and finally got my bike to run perfect with stockers...but now I want to increase the top end without going to 34 or 35 carbs. My bike ran like crap with 34pj carbs when I first ported the cylinders.
  2. I'm looking to buy a new chain for an extended swingarm. "Banshee Gold Chains" are a rip off...I can get it cheaper if I just buy a standard chain, but I need to know the length or number of links to get.
  3. I put some T5 pipes on this weekend and changed my pilots from 27.5 to 32.5 (see my bike specs below). With the 27.5 pilots, the bike was hard to start unless I had the idle way up. The choke out made no difference either. Now, the bike is still a little hard to start (4-5 fast kicks) and it idles real choppy. When I pull the choke, it bogs and dies out. I keep cleaning and checking the (new) plugs and they are wet. They are a clear color but wet. Should I try 30 pilots or can this be fixed with the air screws. Right now the air screws are 2 turns out.
  4. Are you talking about the rubber seals that connect the pipe to the silencer? IF so, I just bought a set from "Vito's Banshee" for about $11.00. If you want to buy a long piece that you can cut yourself, I've seen them at Home Depot. I don't know how much or how good they are.
  5. I'm from Los Angeles (sea level) and I want to tune my bike for Glamis. I tried running on the street but I can't really punch it like I want to. The only place I can do test runs is about 60 miles away. The problem is that the elevation is way higher than sea level. Could I dial it in at a higher elevation and run it at Glamis without having serious problems. I mainly want to dial in the pilots, air screws, and needle.
  6. Thanks for all the advice. I just installed 32.5 pilots and put the needle one slot from the tapered end. I will do a few test runs this weekend in the desert. One more question: What would cause a bike to fall on its face racing up a hill, but run fine on a flat surface? Could it be the float height? or just the jetting..not allowing it to run with any torque.
  7. Let me know if you want to sell it cause I have an extra tank cover that it yellow. If you say that paint works good, then I could paint the yellow tank cover white too. Where do you get this paint? Do you primer and paint....paint and clearcoat?
  8. It was hard to start cold. I have read and heard that a ported motor with aftermarket reeds will run better with the needle one clip leaner (lowering the needle). My plugs were brand new and I couldn't get it to start with and without the choke pulled. I had to raise the slides way up in order to get it to idle. I ran o.k. but the plugs were super white. They were white before I could even run it w.o.t. The bike would run good if I gradually gave it gas. When I tried a drag race take off, it would fall on it's face.
  9. I'm getting my bike ready for Glamis. My last trip was a disaster! I spent the whole weekend changing jets, needle positions, and air screw positions. It was very hard to start. I checked the plugs after a quick run and they were white. I think they turned white because it was hard to start. Pilots are 27.5. Glamis doesn't sell pilots so that's what I had to run all weekend. The strange thing is that the bike ran better with the needle one clip from pointed end. Does this make sense? Should I go up to 32.5 or 30 on the pilots. The mains are 360. I can't get it to run right to do a 6th gear main jet check.
  10. I figured it would be hard finding white radiator and tank plastics. I would be willing to use black plastics if anyone has some for sale. I need it to match a green frame and white fenders.
  11. Need plastic tank and radiator covers. White or black with or without grill
  12. I'm putting a new swingarm on and I lost my chain adjustors when I moved. Are they necessary? Is anyone running without the chain adjustors/tensioners?
  13. My friend gave me a brand new idle kit. (tap, screws, etc..) I adjust my bike by looking at both slides...but I was thinking about installing the screws since I have these parts for free. Is it worth the work? I have no idea where they go. Can someone post a picture of their carbs with the idle screws installed? feedback on these parts please!
  14. bump
  15. I had this message in the "for sale" section. Well, now it's in the right section: I need used tires and rims and I also need white plastics to complete my bike. Thanks again for all the good offers...bike is almost complete.
  16. Damm! I meant to put this message in the "Wanted" section. Sorry about that!
  17. I appreciate all the good offers while I've been building my bike! I've bought all my parts on this forum and ebay!! Now I need the finishing touches....I need used tires and rims AND I need white plastics ( stock or race cut). Give me some offers....Thanks!
  18. I appreciate all the offters!!!! After doing some research and matching pipes to my type of riding, I'm looking for Toomey pipes or in frame drag pipes. I don't care if they are chrome, black, or bare. I will have them chromed if I have to.
  19. What are D&D pipes? Can you post or send some pictures? PM me or email [email protected]
  20. Very Interesting topic! I will be testing my bike out real soon at Glamis. New mods include 22 " haulers 8 paddle and 13 tooth sprocket. I'm starting to regret putting the 13 tooth after reading this forum. Had anyone had experience with my set up in the sand? In the past...my bike wasn't able to hit 5th gear up Olds.
  21. I need a set of used aftermarket pipes and silencers. I prefer chrome or polished pipes without rust. I don't care if the silencers are dull.
  22. So, you still ran a twist throttle with the tors attached? I think this is what you mean right? I'm looking for a twist throttle kit that eliminates the tors. If your throttle and cable eliminate the tors than I am serious about buying it off you.
  23. I need a twist throttle and cable. I'll buy a new or used if the price is right. I'll even buy a complete kit if someone out there has one (throttle, grips, cable, caps)
  24. I'm helping a buddy build a bike...He wants to take off the TORS and put a twist throttle on his banshee. Vito's sells an "idle kit" for $24.95. Do I have to buy this idle kit or can I just buy idle screws ($5.95 each) and drill the holes myself? I'm pretty knew to this since I bought my banshee with a twist throttle already installed. I'd appreciate any feedback on this subject.
  25. Got back from Rosarito last night. Everyone riding out there was a dumb ass! People are very careless in the sand dunes. There were people dragging while trucks were still going/coming down the hill. I was riding my dirtbike and almost ate shit because of people cutting me off. The best part of the weekend was partying at Papas and Beer!
