I will be duning mostly and dragging up sand hills for fun. An experienced sand racer told me to go with my set up( 13 tooth, 8 paddle). What is an advantage/disadvantage of this set-up? Remember, I'm only running 65 hp.
-
THis is an interesting topic! I was just about to ask the same question about the gearing on my bike. I am running about 65 h.p. with 22" 8-paddles. I will be testing this new set-up with a 13-41 sprocket at Glamis in 2 weeks. Does anyone have any comments, experience, or advice on the gearing I'm running for my set-up?
-
Hey SHEEWEET, I see you live in Cali. Are you going to Glamis for Presidents weekend? I'll have to ask around about those pipes. I want the best of both worlds too...drag and duning.
-
I've never even ridden a bike with anything else than T5, CPI, or my PSI pipes. Many people only ride sand...so I guess a mid-top end pipe would best suit a rider since the sand needs a lot of rev to get going. CPI and T5 are good screamers!
-
CPI pipes are the best all around pipe PERIOD! If I had the money I would put them on my bike. My friend and I have always done the same modifications to our banshees at the same time and his has always been WAY FASTER even when we were both stock.

I forgot to mention that the new Barnett springs were a hell of a lot longer than the ones I took off. I thought my clutch was burned, but it was probably the weak springs.

Hey thanks a lot! I still have the side cover off. I need to go back and rotate the plates according to the red dots. I didn't know you had to rotate the kevlar plates...I know you had to rotate the stock metal plates though. ANOTHER QUESTON: Is it normal for the clutch lever to feel super stiff? I've tried to adjust the clutch to the best of my ability but it still feels stiff. I kept a small bit of play on the lever just like the manual says to do.
-
I bought a new Barnett clutch from a shop but it did not come with any instructions. (that's why I got it cheap). The kevlar plates are so thick that they will not fit if I put the rubber ring spacers back on from the stock clutch. The new kevlar plates also have a red mark on one of the top of each plate grove. Does this mean anything? Should I not include the spacers since the new Kevlar plates are so thick and wide? ALSO, The stock metal plates are supposed to be rotated evenly when installed...the new plates aren't tapered, they all look the same. NEED HELP

Shock covers aren't my preference either, but it's better than bidding on ebay for white shocks....many people want the white ones cause they match almost everything. Later, I'd like to get the chrome drag shocks. But for now....shock covers
-
I feel kinda dumb! You are righ about adding shock covers....especially when I ride a lot in the sand. I wonder if they make green ones? Black could work too!@
-
thanks for everyone's help and comments. With the costs of building this bike, I will just probably keep the color I get and make my other parts match. I agree...I like chroming a arms and swingarms, but shocks didn't sound like a good idea.
-
Is it possible to paint shock coils a different color. I'm working on a green frame and I need shocks to match. The only shocks I see for sale are yellow, red, and white. It's hard to find matching front and back white. Anyone ever paint shock coils? If so, what is the process?

Spoin39: How much for the stock ones? mailed to Los Angeles
-
Well, I guess if one needle is longer...I have to get a matching set. Does anyone know where to buy (1) toomey needle? (I doubt it!!) The stock fuckers cost a shit load! Does anyone have an extra stock needle so I can match my stock one?
-
A local Yamaha shop gave me a stock carb slide and needle because I had lost one when I stored my carbs last year. Now, I'm putting the stock carbs back on and I noticed that one of the needles is "way longer" than the other. Is it possible that the needle given to me was a "Toomey needle" or aftermarket? Can I use different length needles without problems? (The longer needle is skinnier at the bottom)

I don't know what they are called but I'm looking for some front tires for sand dragging. They are the smooth buffed ones without the center lines. ANyone have some for sale or know where to buy them cheap?
-
I've got some good PM replies on front shocks and a carrier. THANKS! ANYMORE parts out there for sale???
-
I'm building a bike from the frame---up! I'm going to chrome everything. I like to use stock parts and make them chrome. I need many parts: axle, carrier, hubs, spindles, shocks, brakes, sprockets. I'll buy all parts or whatever you got!
-
I kept the stock cages and bought some Boyeson Pro Series reeds for $75. They work awesome on stock or modified bikes. The Pro Series reeds are Carbon Fiber just like the expensive ones.
-
Is there a paint available that you can buy yourself and paint parts on a bike? I don't want to pay a powdercoating set up fee just to paint my hubs and brake rear brake parts. What kind of paint is durable and looks good. Which paint can be brushed or sprayed without a spray gun?
-
I'm looking for a custom red and yellow seat cover. I'm not picky on the design. Send me a pic if you have one to sell. It can also be red/yellow/black
-
I just sent a +6 inch swing arm to get chromed. Instead of changing axles, I decided to turn the paddles and rims around. I just bought some 22x11x8 with 8 paddles. I can't wait to get the bike together and see how it runs. I use to have stock swingarm and duner v-paddles.
-
To turn the hubs inside out, do you mean to take out the studs? Also, I would have to polish the inside of the rims. I wil try that so I can save some money and put it into the cost of chroming the axle. thanks for the advice
-
So then what's my best way to go? Raptor axles are expensive because they are new bikes. I can get a warrior axle cheap! What are the differences in size...if any? Since they will fit my banshee carrier, all I have to do is buy the axle right? I already bought the bearings.
-
I've noticed that some people use raptor axles to narrow out their drag banshees. Does a narrow axle help for hill drags? If so, will a raptor axle fit a banshee carrier, bearings, and hubs? I am putting a +6 swing arm with hauler paddles this month...should I keep the stock axle and chrome it or put a raptor axle? I don't have the money right now to put an expensive aluminum drag axle!
