  1. At this point you're probably best off to just post pics of everything. No offense, but I can't trust anything without a photo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  2. You beat me to it. Thats just gunna go over his head Op if u really wanna learn how to work on these, read in these forums as much as you can and use that search bar to type in key words of what ur looking for. Ive been on here actively for a year now almost and ive learned a lot and am still learning, most ppl here are willing to help too. Learning to diagnose a problem is important that way ur not chasing ur tail

  6. No i meant its possibly for him to assemble everything himself and save money. Obvi an oversized bore from a builder of choice with new pistons is the way to go

  8. Pitted on top of the piston like something bounced around in the chamber. Severe detonation will eventually melt a hole in the piston and the exhaust side of the piston can melt as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. After reading through this, I would send out to motor to a reputable builder if I were you .. Not to be a dick but I would not attempt to rebuild a motor without even knowing the strokes of a motor. Sent from my LG-H820 using Tapatalk

  16. Feeler gauges or a gap tool, they are dirt cheap at any autoparts store. In a pinch you could use a matchbook cover but anymore those are pretty damn rare

  17. I mean I got an understanding of it, but something's just not right with my quad right now. I will check compression a little later today. Only person that I can go to for help is my buddy he's usually the one I go to when I've reached a point I can't get past but he's a busy guy. Thing is I want to understand my machine, I want to be able to figure this out, with help from you guys I'm sure it's possible.. just need some patience from you all lmao

  18. Any auto parts store should have an inexpensive compression gauge. It should come with a few different tips. You need the one that matches your spark plug threaded part for an accurate reading. But for this exercise, accuracy is a luxury you can do without. You just need to see if you have adequate compression on both sides. If you have a hole in a piston, you would have low compression. But it also would have trouble on the intake stroke too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Not exactly sure how that is even possible in any situation. So, if that is truly an accurate assessment of your motor, it is going to have to be taken apart to allow further investigation. I'd begin with removing the head. But I can't help but lean toward a mis diagnoses of compression at this point. Since you don't have a gauge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
