krauss4 Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 what do you gain out of using a rear strut Quote
docjcwatson Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 You get no squat on the rear end. That way you can get a better/harder launch. Mine also doubles as the mount for my wheelie bar. Quote
00tbanshee Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 i am running one and seems to hook alot harder on the harder tracks Quote
krauss4 Posted July 28, 2008 Author Report Posted July 28, 2008 does it make the front end come up alot easier im stretched 4 inches and it stays down very well with the shock very soft. but am i stretched eneough for a 80 hp motor with strut Quote
banshee332 Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) hard pack tracks like the one I run, sturts suck when you get into a good bit of power. Im running a shaw this year and hooking alot harder Edited July 28, 2008 by banshee332 Quote
dajogejr Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Much better and more controlled launch on the sand tracks I ride on. IF you run a wheelie bar on sand, you HAVE to have one. If not, it'll hit the bar, squat the rear end, then all your holeshot momentum is gone. Most races are won at the tree and within the first 60 foot... You also run less risk of bouncing, unloading tires, etc.... I ran my rear marvin @ 1500 PSI....it was fine for the track with no bar, once I put a bar on....strut was mandatory... Quote
kawiking Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 what are u riding on ?? for asphalt ,, a strut is a must. Quote
docjcwatson Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 what are u riding on ?? for asphalt ,, a strut is a must. Yeah I forgot to mention that. I run asphalt. So for me the wheelie bar is going to be very important. Like mentioned above. A rear Marvin will do a lot of good for you if you choose no bar. Once I get my bike dialed in, I have a rear Marvin Shaw that I can throw on to try out some sand. Quote
