okbeast Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 Haven't done any 2-1 carb jetting, but I know with dual 35's some bikes will run in the 155-160 range, and that's with 2, so I would think you'd need a little bigger main. Quote

smokie Posted July 7, 2008 Author Report Posted July 7, 2008 Im at 100ft ASL Its a dual 35 setup not a 2 into 1 sorry I should have said. Quote
okbeast Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 What are all your mods and all that. 160 sounds fairly high unless it's got alot done to it. And a 42 pilot sounds low, but that shouldn't effect the midrange much. What is a 6-slide? Quote
smokie Posted July 7, 2008 Author Report Posted July 7, 2008 A 6 slide is a number 6 throttle slide. Engine is heavily ported and with modified std reedblocks It pulls full throttle fine on 160 mains Its the lowerend throttle response thats poor upto about 3/8 throttle after that it seems great. Quote
okbeast Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 Cool, i'm not sure how much the pilots effect the 0-1/4 throttle on pwk's and what not, but I would think you'd need more like a 48-50 pilot. Are you running race gas or alky? Also, when it is running bad down low is it a sputter, or popping, or what? Quote
Dinner Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 Jump up to a 48 Pilot and see how shee runs. And as far as the needle goes, try an CEL needle and see how it runs with that. Quote
Snopczynski Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Im at 100ft ASL Its a dual 35 setup not a 2 into 1 sorry I should have said. Sounds like way to big of a needle to me. There are some people who run that needle on a 2 into 1 setup. Quote
smokie Posted August 8, 2008 Author Report Posted August 8, 2008 Ok tries CEL and CEN needles and the CEN has cleaned up the lower end great. Now though if I snap open the throttle the engine seems to cut out then as the revs rise it picks up. What would this be? Quote

You are too lean now after the switch... try the CEL on different clip positions. And your pilot at 42 is way too small. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 48 or 50 is good. And with that CEL needle, it should have you close. Try the air screws 1/4 turn at a time, giving her time running/idling, about 10 seconds, to get used to the new setting. Just play around with it and find what is best. But the 42 pilot is too small for sure. And with a 48 or 50, I'd say 48 in your case... the CEL on 3rd or 4th clip should do it with air screws between 1-2 turns out. Just have to play with the screws to find what works best. How's the top end once you are on it hard? Bogging? I am only running a 158 at 1200 feet in 70-80 degrees. If it is bogging, and not pulling hard, you are too rich and need to bump that down to a 155. But sounds like that's not the case. Put the CEL in, with it on the 3rd clip, and air screws 1.5 turns out. And try 48 pilots. That should get you in the ballpark. Quote
