scotties_banshee Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 (edited) Hello, I pulled 3 of the cylinder head studs outa my T-REX cylinders. All 3 of them were helicoild in!! Do the T-Rex cylinders comelike this from factory? So it tore the helicoil out along with the material around it. So know i have 3 ,clean round, holes with no threads in it, how do i fix this???? blanco25 Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 no they dont come like that from the factory. where did you get the cylinders from? thats what people do when the hole gets stripped out. I used to have a t-rex cylinder and it did the same thing. the exhaust flanges also did that. Quote
2strokespirit Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 You have to get an insert, I hate helicoils, they do work ok, but the inserts is for sure easier and stronger. Insert is a small sleeve with thread inside and outside and you do get thin wall inserts, try contact Wurth, they sell kits. Wurth Time sert kit Quote
FelixTheCat Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 Scott, Try the inserts from Wurth...use a little red lock tight on the insert... And dont torque them too tight...I skip the torque wrench and just use a boxend or ratchet...go by feel...the o-ring heads seal much better than the stock gaskets. Quote
