05.Banshee.SE Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 I see a lot of people partial to T5s...any opinions/explanations? Quote
jamebo Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 I've never ran either, but from what I've read on here it seems the T6's are best for a stock engined bike. The T5's are the better pipe for engine mods or a person with future plans for engine mods. Quote
wesw Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 t6 were aimed to stock ports only t5 react more to porting then 6 but ive never seen any dyno sheets to prove it. so if you going to get ported buy t5s or some other pipes. Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 How about stock w/ T5s vs. stock w/ T6s? (Stock port.) Other mods would be: K&N Pods w/ outerwears TORS Removed VForce3 Reeds and cage NGK BR8EIX I just don't know if I feel like doing motor work. The bikes almost brand new, so it could be a year or more out of the way. Or I could get a bonus check and say hell with it, do it now. That's what's holding me back. Quote
Frogger Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Trust me, if you are really into riding a 4wheeler, you'll eventually get motor work done. The bug gets everyone. If the T5's give you more options, I would go with them. Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 Thanks for all the quick info. I found a really nice set that is exactly what I'm looking for. T5s, sandblasted, flat black, no damage, repacked on Ebay for around $350. I will hopefully order them once I get paid Thurs. Since I love to spend money and go fast, I'm just going to plan on porting, etc. I know I'm going to get bored of the mods I listed above, and will want more. The bike is currently stock, and I'm getting all these things installed almost together, lol. I should be happy for a week. Quote
Washburn Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) what type of porting are you looking for. Remember a dune/drag port makes for the fastest most HP motors but if your riding on trails it will can be to powerfull and that can make you slower than getting a more moderate port job. Plus with the more matieral taken out of you cyls calls for an extended swingarm and that is a handeling nightmare. Let us know what your future plans are. edit TR6s respond best to a stock or lightly ported motor they give more overall power while T5s are more of a mid/top end pipe. Im getting a 4mil agressive GNCC port for trails and I got PT Mids to switch out for my TR6s for that. I actualy still have my TR6s on now (Killer pipes) but Im gonna swap them this summer sometime and the PT Mids will be better suited for the type of power Im looking for with the extra stroke and power from the ports. 05.Banshee.SE Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 I ride mostly in sand, more than anything. That Quote
Washburn Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) you dont nessacerely have to have the faster bike to win its all about rider skill espically in the trails. 2005 Yamaha Banshee SE : STOCK Upcoming Mods: Toomey T5s--TORS Removal--K&N Pods w/ Outerwears--VForce 3 Reeds and Cage--Jetting--Timing Plate You definatly should look into a Noss Head or if you wanna do it for less cost you could get your head milled .030. More if you are willing to put race fuel in her. Advancing your timing is a huge deal and a great bang for you buck also I have mine set at +4 with 20cc domes but thats only cause I dont wanna have anything to do with race fuel this season. K@N Filters will let her breath easyer and if you really plan on getting her ported you can look into carbs that will fit with your port job style so thats something to think about also. I really dont recomend a port job untill you see how all of the mods above are tested by you. That way you will know exactly what you want. BTW- what kind of tires do you have on and do you plan on changing anytime soon. Stock Banshee tires suck they just spin espicaly with bolt on mods. Edited June 24, 2008 by Washburn Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 I want to stay away from race fuel. I remember someone saying something about the NOSS Head...I think it may have been you. I've been looking at NOSS head, and cool head, and domes, and all this shit I don't really know what it is, but I've been looking at them, and researching. I was going to let these mods fall into place and get a feel for what direction I want to go in after that. I'm not going to claim to be a pro or anything like that, but I've been riding about 10 or more years, everything from 4x4s to dirtbikes, and it's always been my biggest hobby, and almost a daily thing. I'm pretty confident in my riding ability. Although the 'Shee is amazing, I think stock it isn't enough. I have no doubt that rider ability plays a huge role, but if I run into modded 450s and modded Raptor 700s, it's gonna be tough on me and the stock 'Shee. From what I hear, modded it's a different bike...and it really wakes up. That's what I'm pullin for. Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 Oh yeah, I have the stock tires as it's such a new bike. I plan on switching to Razrs, Razr 2s, or I-Razr (most likely the first) once I get a few performance mods under my belt. (Mainly pipes and K&N.) Quote
wesw Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 if your wanting pipes get some dmc 916 they make great power down low and mid and respond well to porting and are the wicked sounding pipes ive ever heard. Quote

Thats gonna be whats holding your power to the ground and making it feel like a whole new bike. Most anything is better than stock I recomend Razr 2s over razrs they are much beefier Quote

Yes you'll be surprised what pipes and filter will do for it. I was in the same situation as you, I bought my Banshee new and didn't want to do too much to it at first because of that....... after the first mod or two though trust me you'll be wanting to do more and more! I was shocked how much the pipes and filter did for mine over stock. Then I added a Noss head with 21cc domes and it gave it that much more. It's amazing how well they respond to mods. Quote
