The new bike I just got has a full blown override right now. I LOVE the way you can mow through the gears with it but I'm not sure I'm going to keep this machine a full drag bike.

Also, our drag racing hill has been known to be hard on overrides because of the whoops, etc.

Who makes a good duneable override that you can really ride like normal? I've heard that the earlier ones were blowing up left and right, and that you needed to still treat them like a true override but they were just more "forgiving".

If I make this bike a duner, I want something I can really dune ride. Not stop and go back to first every time I need to downshift.

If I find a duneable override that will work for me I'll probably sell / trade this full override I have now as it's in perfect condition the way it sits.

Thanks a lot

WCR makes the best duneble hands down. It is advised that you still use the clutch to down shift on a duneable.

I keep hearing that it's 'advised' to do this and that, i wish someone would just go beat the shit out of one and see if it lasted

My bros twister had a WCR 1-5 neutral down duneable in it and we slammed the shit outta that thing last year with no problems...

Is it worse to backload them in a lower or higher gear? Like if you're goin through some trails or whoops and blip the throttle and the tires spin into high RPM's and you don't pull in the clutch in, i can see something like that happening quite often...

Here is my opinion about a duneable...

Just ride it like a normal tranny all the time, until you drag race... That is the advantage on an overide is racing... If you are too lazy to clutch to shift all the time you are probably on the wrong kind of bike anyway.

If you ride it normal till you race, they will last fine.

By the way I read your post you seem to be getting backloading a little confused... it isnt going ot hurt anything if your boucing around and your tires come off the ground and the R's spin up... backloading is when your wauling and just let off the gas and let the tranny slow you down.

Yeah I understand that part from the racing side completely. I'm just tryin to think about riding some fast trails, you'll come up on something and slam the brakes on w/o grabbing the clutch, something like that a few times, can these things handle that?

I have had great luck using mine just like a regular tranny. When I purchased mine from Greg at WCR a few years ago, he flat out told me, ride it however you want...period! In the last year or so, I have seen people start to say don't backload them..... maybe Greg has decided they are bullet proof if you don't back load them. I have slowed the bike, down shifting(backloading the living hell out of it) w/o pulling the clutch, upshifted, donwshifted... you name it. I have not been able to kill this thing. It was in a duner for two years, now this season in a drag bike and shifts like the day I got it. Greg gives a warrenty and stands behind his word...

Best place to get them is FAST...

Greg, im alittle concerned that you want to take a full blown drag bike and detune it to run dunes but the dunable override would probably be alot better for your style riding. I think you would like the powerband ALOT better on a Dune/Play port motor for what your trying to do but maybe im wrong...? I dont think WCR has a sight at this time but Andy @ MM and i both keep Dunables on hand if we can help.
