BaNsHeEs RuLe! Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 I've rode that bike...it's probably more like 65 to 68 on a more conservative dyno, Dan @ A&S is known to have a pretty generous read. Oh, it is tough to do...but it is possible! Listen, it is totally possible to get 70 hp or more with 26s, but the question I ask is why, at least dump some 33s on it,with the $$$ spend on the port and prep it takes to pull that much power out of the engine, why not spring for some carbs??? with the mods he mentioned and the way he talked in his post, I say bullshit, he sounds like a typical guy talking shit. But....I've been smoked on the 421 by some guys I thought were talking shit too....but whatever, 68hp 70 hp 75 hp, ride it right and it don't matter!!! Quote
flotek Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 i know a 4mil gas banshee that made 80 true rwhp with stock carbs on a stingy dynojet Quote
shanYE west Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 (edited) Was directed at anyone who thinks you cant get 70hp from stock carbs.trust me If I was up there I wouldnt get eaten alive. Well, theres 80hp. I guess alot of us are going to get eatin alive. Jorge, You'd kill your self riding the dunes up there! lol Its a lil different then driving down the streets and trails. flotek Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 the transfers are what really chokes things out o n a banshee ,this is one of the main reasons cubs need larger carbs to perform ,they have tons of transfer area ,for alot of milder engine combos the stock banshee carbs are underrated IMHO they are one of the few mikuni models that arent total pieces of crap  Quote

All Im saying is its possible to get more than 70HP on stock carbs.I know alot of stock carbed motors prolly close to 90HP.Maybe its just the builder. Quote
Wildcardracing Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 What I'm trying to say is that 65 to 70 hp is when you're pushing the limit of fuel capacity in those tiny little float bowls. Sure you can make more power with them, but how long can you hold it wide open before you run them dry. I'd say the risk of running them dry on flat land isn't as much as some of the hill climbs we do up here. Quote

As far as the mods that were done to Dans bike were(or i think) CPI's, A&S porting, Stock Carbs, K&N in stock box, milled head. I will be running Pods's, Timing Plate at +4, Head with 20cc. So i hope i can see 70. I think he ran 4.9 in the 300ft. Quote

Nothing worse than blasting 2/3 of the way up a killer hill and bogging out.........AYE!!!! Street and trails are one thing, but hit the dunes and your 'Shee better be running right all the way to the top, otherwise it'll be a looooooong ride to the hospital, or a loooong walk back (or tow ). I'd challenge anyone who rides streets and trails to come down to Little Sahara in the summer or Glamis on Thanksgiving, line 'em up with me, your 80hp would look like 25hp in the sand!!!LOL Quote

Your comparing apples to oranges.. Thats like bragging about beating a MX quad in a drag race... or a MX quad bragging about beating stretched out drag bike on a MX track. I'm sure them street boys would put the same whooping back on you in streets. Quote

But I have a sweet MX/trail "shee, and a 421 full drag "shee and a stock piped shee, so where ever you wanna go, dunes, trails, streets, bring it !!!! The bike in my sig is my MX bike, don't think that's my ace, it's just my low budget bike!!! The dune bike is ridiculous, I'll be at Little Sahara in a month or so, putting some things back together it now. Iv'e been beat by some and I've beaten some, but I always shake hands when it's over. peak-j Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 Damn, the bench racing's getting serious around here!!! Quote
Toybreaker Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 Drag port 370 made 66 hp on gas. jumped to 74 hp 60 lb ft of torque with 35mm pwk's on gas. that was with FMF fatties. proably could make more power with cpi's or shearers or OOF's I just didn't want to spend more money at the time... Don't know if it was a stingy or generous dyno. a local 600 sprint car racer needed some "guinea pigs" to dial in the dyno to compare repeatability to his daughters sprint car. so i ran my banshee,,, dyno time for free is great as long as nothing breaks! Quote
