I got this individual on ebay telling me his ported/piped(t-3s) shee is making 75 horsepower with stock carbs. Does the stock flow enough fuel and or air to produce 75 horse? Sorry for this question but i want to make sure that i dont step on my own toes and tell him he is full of it if he is not.

thanks

He is inquiring about the 36mm keihins i am selling on ebay. He wants to know his HP gains. this is what he wrote:

"i have stock 26mm carbs, v-force 2 reeds, custom port by a well known guy in OC, CA..coolhead 21cc domes, bored to a 370cc, forged pistons, welded crank, built tranny, gixxer clutch and springs, no air box lid, k&n filter, +3 swingarm, durablue axle, works suspension, i run 91 fuel, i also have Toomey T3 pipes "make great power low/mid/super high rpms." The port is in between dune/drag i told him i wanted power but nothing stupid to where i cant fly threw the dunes in glamis, its not a trailer queen :"

You guys have a little to learn still.

It's absolutely 100% possible...in the hands of a few solid builders.

Where is the ebay bike? It all depends on his porting....period. He's got kinda low compression to make that number, but it is absolutely possible.

The way the guy is talking about the bike...kinda iffy at best....but it's still very possible.

Keep in mind...a Dyno is a tool used to tune motors, that number means nothing.

I dunno, 75 seems like a pretty lofty goal with stock carbs-dune port and T-3's. How many stock stroke/cylinder bikes have you seen that are in that 70+ hp range with stock carbs?? I'm sure there are builders who can pull it off...no doubt. But, 80-85 is what a lot of big builders stock stroke/cyl drag ports are at on alky with 35.5's and oof's. The reason I mentioned the dyno is because you know as well as I do that 2 dyno's will show 2 different results on the same engine. I agree that dyno's should only be used as a tuning or R&D tool, nothing more.

I've rode that bike...it's probably more like 65 to 68 on a more conservative dyno, Dan @ A&S is known to have a pretty generous read.

Oh, it is tough to do...but it is possible!

I used to know a lot of guys here in utah running stock carbs on really hot motors. The thought was more airspeed coming through the smaller diameter. I never realy bolted on a set of carbs on any of my bikes anyway and said WOW, but who knows. I run only 34mm Mikuni TM's now a days.

Who was that directed at?? lol, Maybe you'd get eaten alive up here...he he

Was directed at anyone who thinks you cant get 70hp from stock carbs.trust me If I was up there I wouldnt get eaten alive.
