Hi Everybody,

I'm new to BansheeHQ and I need some advice before I buy a Banshee. I am buying a Banshee before I go back offshore and I am wondering if I should buy a 2008 for $8300 CAN including Tax or there is a used 2007 for sale close to me for $6500 CAN including Tax. I have not seen the 2007 in person yet, but the ad says "2007 banshee. very little use never raced, new back tires, must go. 6500.00 ono or trade for sport bike."

When I look at the 2007, I'm going to look for obvious visual damage to the whole bike, I'm going to check the compression of each cylinder. What compression should be o.k. for this bike? I'm going to ask him what he mixed the gas and which brand of oil he used. I'm going to check the air filters for dirt debris as well. Is there anything else I can check or that I should be aware of???

Do you think I should get the brand new Banshee???

Thanks for your time.

Best Regards,

Shaun

Unless you like brand new stuff your wasting your money on a new banshee. I know prices are different between the us and Canada but you should be able to get a damn nice banshee for that kinda money. Here 5-6k can get you a sick ass bike with everything imaginable.

I'd look at the used one. It's only a year old so it should be in good shape still. Then take the money you will save and do some upgrades... pipes first then suspension.... All Banshee's are pretty much the same except the really old ones with j-arms front ends, 87-91 I believe. There is no difference between the 07 and 08 except the colors.

I was just speaking to the owner of the Banshee and he don't really know much about it. He traded a car for it and from what I can decifer from him was, it was on impulse. He said that he was the 2nd owner of the bike and he mixed on YamaLube @ factory mix, 24:1. He replaced the rear tires and rear brakes. I'm figuring the bike done a few brake burns. There is a dent on one of the rear rims and the tire won't hold any pressure. I guess that I need a new rim as well. I think that I can get the bike for $6000 CAN cash. He said that we was stuck for money. I still haven't seen the bike, but I'm not too impressed. He sounds like a young fella who doesn't give a f@%k. Should I follow up on this or is it bad news?? Thoughts???

Thanks,

I have bought 3 used banshees and I was upset with how shitty they were except one that an old guy owned for no reason except to ride with his kids, once he found out what he had he sold it to me and it is still a good shee. I wouldnt say buy new but get one that hasnt been modded except bolt ons or buy one from a trustworthy decent person off of this site.

this was the question i asked my self last month "do i get a new one or 2nd hand"

i ended up buying a 08 one becuase i new the history of it, i was going to be the one that ran it in, it was only $2000au more than a 06 model that has been "riden" and its a 2 stroke everyone belts that absolute fuck out of 2strokes so i thought id be better off.

id be a bit skeptical about "new tyres" and very little use.

obviously a good owner will have a good quad but how do you know.

Buy a pile of shit if you are going to get one. You can fix anything on it, it will be built how you want and you will have less $$ in it then a new one.

I got a running banshee for 800 bucks yes it was a steal it was a 04' model i traded my dirtbike for it but anyway i built my drag bike straight from scratch and the 04' bike i got originally is in pieces and used for extra parts...lol

I just looked at the '07 Banshee. What a piece of crap!! The silencers are missing. One of the front wheels is back about an 1" from the other. The the front fender is scuffed really bad. The brake reservoir is scuffed really bad. Looks like the bike was rolled over. The gaurds on the pipes, the gear cover and the pegs got the paint removed from use. This is an '07 - fack! The rear rim is banged in. The bike was stolen twice. $6000 CAN!? My fathers 18 yr old Big Bear is mint compared to this. What a waste of time. I think I'll be looking elsewhere.

I am on like my tenth banshee and my newest one is a 98'

It has:

Marvin shaws all the way around, I sold them went to stock which I got free.

+8 lonestar swingarm, sold it and got a new +4

Keihin 35Pwk, sold them, got mikuni's for 80 bucks more

The carb boots were ripped, so I bought sandstorm intakes off abay for $134, reed spacers for 40. new clutch cable. Few more odds and ends. It all ready has a cool head.

I am now in the bike 2900 with all new components. Can't wait until its done!

Don't buy new! let another guy take the hit!

Yeah I bought mine new for the same reason, the history of it. I know there are alot of good deals out there and ones can be found in good shape... but buying new you KNOW what your getting. Around where I live used Banshees are very expensive, and if I spent that kind of money I want to know that I'm not going to run into problems after a couple hours on the engine.
