What to do with a quad? Get a jack and put it under the rear swing arm and spin the tires and look for bent axles. See if the brakes are spongy. How hard is it to put it in first/neutral,second.... a good test to do on any two stroke is to put it in first and see if it rolls easy: if it does the compression is poor and you will need to rebuild the top end. Check the plugs. Make sure it is cold when you see how many kicks it takes to get it started. Due dilligence will help you to determine it's real value. 1800 sounds reasonable, but not if it needs work.

Man everyone that lives away from dune areas is spoiled.... $1800 for a bike that runs? 2001? Never see a banshee for sale that low around me that lasts for more than a few hours. Be it craigslist or the trader.

Yeah check suspension for play. put the bars straight and look at the front wheels. If one is turned some the tie rod on that side is fubar the frame or a-arm is bent, check the axle, look at the chain adjustment bolts, if they are all the way in you are going to need a new chain and sprockets.... Pick it apart if you don't want to pay what he is asking. the more you find wrong the more "ammo" you have. But there is a fine line in negotiating for a lower price... don't piss of the seller he/she could just decide "fuck you your an ass i am not selling to you at any price"

had it happen to me and i have done it to a couple of people when i was selling my chevelle.

1800 is about right for your area. i can pick up 2001 nice running banshees all day long here for 1500 to 2000. if its in good shape, has good compression and you like it, offer him 1600 and see what he says. might be able to get it for less than 1800.
