hondakiller Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 I have a 2001 banshee. I've had it for a while. Doing maintnance on it one day and I adjusted the T.O.R.S. It ran fine until I took it up in the trials. I rode back to camp on a straight paved road for a couple of miles at about 3/4 to full throttle. Came into camp and the slides were stuck at full throttle. I shifted to nuetral and hit the kill switch. It was still running. Turned off the key and it was still running at full throttle. I had to shift to first and pop the clutch. I started it up agian and it was fine. A couple months later it did the same thing so I messed with the T.O.R.S. again and now every time I start it it revs up and I can't turn it off. Any thoughts on why it won't shut off or ideas on how to fix this. Quote
Dinner Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Hmmm, sounds to me like your TORS are really screwed up. Isn't the whole purpose of the TORS is to stop the engine if something like this happens? I'm not really sure what you can do to help the TORS situation out themselves. However I would suggest to you, take the TORS system off, install an idle kit and you will be happy. Quote
JasonsBanshee Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Mine did this one time. I believe mine did it when I was running low on gas. I filled it up and it never happened again. Quote
HammerShee99 Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 This happened to me with my old YZ250, and it ended up being due to a nasty crack in the intake boot. While this does sound like it could be a TORS-related issue, have you checked for air leaks, just in case? Quote
MILO Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 since it wouldn't shut off i'd say it sounds like an electrical problem related to the tors. they seem to be more of a problem than what they are worth. i would suggest doing a search on here about unplugging the tors to see if that's the problem for sure before ripping them off. but i'd bet that's where the problem is. blowit Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Would like to know more about your setup but sounds like to got a nasty detonation condition where you either ran the carb bowls dry or lean. The bike would not shut off because it was dieseling. Pump fuels and alky are more common on this than race fuel. brandon Quote

You turnd the spark off but it was detonating so it kept running. Quote
