FireHead Posted March 8, 2008 Report Share Posted March 8, 2008 could it be the carb choke plunger because i am having a hell of a time finding the dam leak :ermm: . could the the head gasket or base gasket be blown if the mechanic did not torq the head down properly No on the choke plunger. On stock carbs you will have to cap off the bosses that the choke tube goes between. Or do a leak down test like was suggested and that will tell you if you have an air leak for sure. Are you sure the choke cross-over tube is connected? I left mine off once & it acted like what you are describing. I had to swallow my pride & admit I overlooked what should have been obvious.
