I will have everything sorted... I will sort what needs done for the show and the rest of it you can work on whenever...

Yeah that's fine, I'm planning to have pretty much ALL my PC done before Sunday so I can start getting her back together finally. I'm taking tomorrow off so I can knock a bunch of stuff out including my frame. I have 6 pounds of powder and some chrome and some blue showing up today!

That is pretty slick!! Quick question, did you just take a free oven and strip it down til you were left with the controls and elements? I have an oven that I am getting ready to replace, works fine but just got natural gas. If that is the case, I may have to build one of those. I'll raise a frosty mug to that, nice work..

Yeah that's exactly what I did, tossed the rest in the dump. But you might want to do some research on using gas ovens, i'm not sure if it works very well...

Thanks for the compliments!

Ok so here's my shop, it's not perfect but it works very well and I can turn out some very nice work. I'm a penny pincher like my father so I pretty much build all my own stuff from scratch...

Here's the oven you can see my newly built rail system for heavy items above:

Here's the oven with the rail system and my banshee hanging in it:

Rail system collapsed so the door can shut:

Rail system released so you can see the part that spans accross:

Rail system fully extended to allow the trolley to move accross:

My small PC booth and blasting cabinet:

Closeup of PC booth, I used a house filter with a cheapo walmart box fan behind it, it creats a perfect amount of airflow for me:

HEY WAT DOES THE BLASTING CABINET DO?? OR HOW DOES IT WORK, WAT ARE THE STEPS YOU TAKE FROM START TO FINISH ON POWDER COATING.

Oh no, my old oven is electric. We just had gas run to our house and I will be putting a new gas range in..

How long does it take you to get the oven to temp?

Setup looks pretty good man! I would triangulate from the sides to help distribute the load on your rail system. Generally not good to have a load hanging straight down like that. Other than that, looks pretty good for a home-made setup. Keep up the good work!

 Yeah, I probably will!! LOL No you will love watching the process, it's amazing to see what happens. When you look at it before it's baked you think, "there's no way that will turn out smooth and glossy like paint" but then as you watch it melt and come to life you'll be amazed! That's why PC is so addicting!

I'll second that!!! most the time I think to myself, there is no way this should turn out as good as it does.

think you can build a cabinet to recover both blast media and powdercoat? i gotta save myself some room on this part of my setup.

otherwise dude nice digs!

i will thrid that also!! its amazing how it transforms and changes its state!! pretty damn kool.. you can make a rusty piece of crap part look very trick and better than it ever was!! me and my cousin are workin on building a sandblasting room.. about 7'x7' .. has lights, a helacious ventilation system, and of course, sand! getting a blasting hood, i have a respirator, but we are going to make the ventilation so bad ass that dust is no problem!! i will post up some pictures, fixing to go big with it guys, just takes a little time and work.

Ok sorry guys I took yesterday off and was coating my frame and a bunch of other stuff, I'll see if I can answer everyone here:

"HEY WAT DOES THE BLASTING CABINET DO?? OR HOW DOES IT WORK, WAT ARE THE STEPS YOU TAKE FROM START TO FINISH ON POWDER COATING."

The cabinet is so you can strip old paint etc. off parts and also prep the metal's surface for good adhesion for the powder. There's lots of steps really, I'll just give you the basics: Strip to bare metal, clean, clean, clean, clean, clean, and then clean again, attach grounding wire shoot powder onto part, put in oven and bake for specified time, remove and let cool. Once cool it's ready to bolt back on!

"Oh no, my old oven is electric. We just had gas run to our house and I will be putting a new gas range in.."

Oh ok gotcha, I must have misread.

"How long does it take you to get the oven to temp?"

I can get mine up to 550 deg in about 10-15 min max

"Setup looks pretty good man! I would triangulate from the sides to help distribute the load on your rail system. Generally not good to have a load hanging straight down like that. Other than that, looks pretty good for a home-made setup. Keep up the good work!

Actually I took those pics right after I got done building it and yeah I plan to do that but I don't plan to hang anything much heavier than a banshee frame from it so with that said, the rail is the weakest link and will fail prior to anything else...

"think you can build a cabinet to recover both blast media and powdercoat? i gotta save myself some room on this part of my setup.

If you mean to coat in AND blast in, I would say no because of the contamination from the media, you'd have a hell of a time cleaning up every time you got done just to get ready to coat. It's pretty messy inside a blast cabinet.
