trail riding

Recommended Posts

my shee is a trail bike only. mostly fast woods/hare scramble/hill climbing type riding. it has the usual bolt ons. pipes, jet kit, pro flow, cool head w/18 cc domes. compression is 175.

couple of ?'s

would a timing plate b any help in the woods?

if so, +4, +5?

i know to keep an eye on the plugs but has anybody changed to a cooler plug after installing a timing plate?

whats the gap?

i think this is my next mod but i wanted to ask the experts. which are the guys here. thanks

any certain brand?

and how hard to install?

any brand will get the job done, i use the ricky stator one, its cheap, pretty easy to install, you will need a flywheel puller, they are about 12 bucks.it adds bottom end noticeably, and adds power everywhere, it also makes the motor very snappy and responsive. its well worth getting,

It will make a very noticable diffrence and since you are already running such high compression (at least 110 Octane Ide assume your running already) Bump it up to around +7 just make sure your running enough octane.

I run +8 and 185 psi on 110 octane fuel.

+8 timing? That's got to be one of the highest advances I've heard of someone using. I only have mine advanced +3 and 170psi. I run 110 octane in mine. I think I need to boost my timing up a little more. I just haven't thought about it since I started running the race fuel.
