I'm also very interested in seeing the ported cages as I don't have the $ for v-forces right now but am loking for a 'lil extra like everyone else.

Would ported cages work ok with just stock reeds, or would i have to get some higher-end reeds to notice a difference?

Lynn at LC Performance recommends the TDR's or Stock reeds in ported stock cages over the VF's, Snop has dyno information in the General discussion disproving the claim that VF's make more power. He even found that they make less, and that was running the stuffers. I port all of my own reed cages, it's not difficult. I wish I was able to post pics for you guys. I just knife edge the bridges and clean up the outer edges of the windows so they are smooth. Then I make them have a smooth/roundish contour from the screws to the pedal opening. Hope this helps.

Here are some pics of a set that I sold to Bigboybanshee. This combo is way better than stock but the throttle is not as crisp as with v force reeds. Also the V-force put alittle more horse power on the dyno than the ported stockers.I did not get a chance to dyno the ported cages VRS. the stockers. To do the cages correctly it takes a little time..

That is the whole point of V Force Reeds. Crisp Throttle. You have 4 reed petals per cage vs the stock 2. That means the 4 reeds dont opean as far as the 2 on the stock cage, but they flow the same amount. So the time it takes the reeds to opean and close is cut in half because they are not opeaning as far. That equals better throttle responce.

Yes I would love to see them.

Which TDR reeds did you run the epoxy or the carbon? And are they a one piece reed?

Thanks

Epoxy. They weren't bad at all, just starting to get worn so I changed them, and I like these boyeson 2 stages a little bit better.

travis..what reeds do u run in the 4 mill cub ?

VF2's w/ TDR epoxy reeds...the epoxy reeds are mainly for the nitrous.

I'm still running them too, good deal you gave me, I definitely appreciate it

Here are a couple pics I snapped last night, up close on the cages. I left them fairly big, so click on the pic and open it in a new window to see better

Here is some comparisons that were posted a while ago when People were claming the 1dir reeds to make more power then the VF's the carbon tech's are on ported cages. The thread was deleted off PS. But it was posted by a very respected builder. I beleive he used a FI type system to make sure each cage was run at optimum setting.. In his thread he said what had to be done to each cage. Wish the didn't delete the thread....

I stand corrected. I imagine the difference in findings probably has a lot to do with individual engine setup. I like my stock ported cages with boysens, $60 vs $230... is a couple of hp worth the extra $170. Guess that ones up to the individual.

I agree.. I feel a stock ported cages with a good set of reeds flows good on engines with mild motor work. I think the drag bikes tend to benifit more from the VF then a stock or mildly built motor.

The bike used in the dyno was a 350cc with RDZ drag porting with OOF RDZ pipes using 40mm thottle bodies.

This is just my opinion ofcourse.. I do know a few builders that prefer ported cages also besides LC. To each their own..
