What kind of gains with a 4mm stroker anyway?

I just bought my first Banshee and wanted to know what kind of gains I'd see with a 4mil crank. As it sits right now it has a .20 over bore, port and polish job, stock head cut/re-chambered, Hot Rodz crank (stock stroke), weseco pistons, V-force 3 reeds, Trinity 2 into 1 35mm Keihin carb (airbox removed), Duncan Mid-range pipes with silencers.

 

I've been tearing around on it and it is a blast but can definately handle more power. If it is worth it then can I just have the cylinders re-ported for the crank or is the porting a one time deal??

i think it is like a 7% gain but depends on who you get to port it for the 4mil cause maybe they could get somemore gains out of the port work.

Get ride of that 2 into 1 carb setup. You would probly see a 7% gain on the top end by swiching to a dual carb set up. What kinda of port job did you get?

where do u live and who did the porting ?? what kind of riding are u doing.

The 2 into 1 carb setup was that way when I got it. I was told the porting was done at a shop towards the Grand Rapids area called R&B. Most of my riding will be trail riding and a few trips to the dunes.

Bob of R&B is actually out of Lansing area, not quite Grand Rapids.

He's a helluva nice guy...

 

Sometimes, shops don't want to work on other's cylinders.

So...if you're pretty sure R&B did the port work, I'd let them do it again for the 4 mil stroker.

 

Before I'd tell you to ditch he 1 into 2 setup, I'd answer Kawi's quesitons of where you ride and what type?

 

Honestly, it wouldn't be a stretch to change carbs, modify porting and get a 4 mil stroker crank and get another 10 to 20% increase out of it. However....it depends on what "kind" of power you're looking for!!!!
