Chris22r Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Ok well I went out yesterday to start up my banshee for a lil run like always...started best kind but then died and now it wont start...really starting to bother me now because usually I find the problem..I noticed my throttle to be a bit stiff...dont forget now this is in newfoundland so its pretty cold weather...but anyways took out the spark plugs and both have perfect spark...some people tell me it could be water in the gas but im pretty stumped on this one...anyones help would be greatly appreciated here!!! bansheeman1988 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 how cold are you right now? check your gas flow to the carbs, when was the last time you cleaned them out? got good compression? got the choke tube on? Quote
Chris22r Posted January 22, 2008 Author Report Posted January 22, 2008 its about -9 here now..but i have had the bike goin in alot colder conditions...as for the gas flow and compression its good and i have the choke tube on...never looked @ the carbs tho....anything else that could cause this problem??? RZBansheeMan Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 In that kind of weather, I would strongly suggest taking it into a heated garage of sorts and letting that bitch warm up some first....... :geek: Quote
yamaha04 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 (edited) yeah forsure. if you got good spark its fuel realted then take the carbs off let them warm up check for frozen lines and stuff like that. iv seen carbs accualy work great then just freez up and the machine quits. it happend lot on this older yamaha bravo 250 single carb sled my buddy had. alluminm disapates heat so if its -9 then the carbs are probably alot colder Edited January 22, 2008 by yamaha04 Quote
Chris22r Posted January 22, 2008 Author Report Posted January 22, 2008 thanks for the info..will do..but just wanting to know if theres anything else that could cause this so i can do everything the one shot? Quote
bansheeman1988 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 not much more than gas, spark and compression. other than leakdown test, but you said it was running before so it probably wouldnt be that. Quote
Chris22r Posted January 22, 2008 Author Report Posted January 22, 2008 also how hard is it to take those carbs off and put back in..looks a lil tight there but could be a diff story....?? Quote
yamaha04 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 if the intake boots are cold i would just forget about it lol its a tight fit but can be done. easyest way is to take the air box out then slide the carbs back and there out. hard part is pusshing the air box ahead so you can slide it out of the holders on each side of the frame and when cold i think i would just give up and put it in a warn spot. yamaha04 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 also if your carbs are froze and thats your problem you could heat them up with a torch i wouldnt do it for long but if that the problem. wont work if a jet is cloged Quote
Chris22r Posted January 23, 2008 Author Report Posted January 23, 2008 ok guys my eyes must be playing tricks because today when i checked the spark i had a blue spark and now i have no spark....could someone tell me how to cut to the chase and tell me what should i go straight for?? Quote
HotCarl Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Is your bike stock? Does it still have the tors, is the parking brake on, is the key on, is there gas in the tank, is fuel valve on, is the run switch on? Quote
