skylor Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Well today I got my new chain put on wanted to go for a ride but it's running like shit and Idk whats wrong with it. Ok so with full choke on it will idle fine if you keep it running like always. half and no choke the left cylinder starts shutting on and off. if you rev it the left cylinder will kick on after about half throttle or so. When you ride it it will bog until about half throttle then it will kick on and rip but you have to stay on it if you let the R's drop below half the left cylinder will shut off and bog. Any questions you need to ask to help me figure this out go ahead and ask and I'll answer them. Thanks for any help. Quote
sheerider1026 Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 (edited) sounds like u have a pilot jet stopped up my friend, take it out, shoot it with some carb cleaner, air pressure, or a thin wire from a wire brush to run through it works good.. should fix it.. skylor Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 Oh I did forget to mention that it also pops and backfires and the weird thing is is that I noticed but just remembered the first time it poped it was out of the right cylinder now I don't know which one it's popping out of I just know that it is. if that changes anything? bansheejoel Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 mine was doing EXACTLY the same thing just yesterday so i went to my local yamaha dealer and with some help from this site i replaced the plugs cleaned out my carbs really well made sure my choke tube was hooked up (which it wasnt before i took off the carbs) and put new gas and oil in now she runs like a raped ape....i would say try new plugs check your pilots and check your choke tube worth a try Quote
skylor Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 I cleaned the plugs not sure if that'd help but I couldn't find my extra's and I just threw my boost bottle on today and I didn't notice the choke tube being disconnected but it's possible. Quote
sheerider1026 Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 bosst bottles are only good to be meslted down and made into ashe trays in my opinion, they just end up cracking the intake boots and causing a lean condition due to an air leak.. just my .02.. like everyone said, clean those carbs, make sure the choke tube is on, and new plugs, should be good to go. skylor Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 Will the boost bottle help though? idk because I didn't get a chnace to test it out lol Quote
sheerider1026 Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 it is suppose to help with bottom end and throttle response.. its only a preference.. i have 2 of them on my shelf, and none of them on my banshees.. Quote
skylor Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 ok well thanks to everyone for your help I'll hopefully get to doing all this stuff sometime soon depending on the weather and I'll let you know how it turns out. Quote

I'm at a loss please help Quote
sheerider1026 Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 man u could also have a bad spark plug cap Quote
skylor Posted January 21, 2008 Author Report Posted January 21, 2008 If I switch wires it should it do it on the other side then I'd know thats my problem right? Quote
akita8 Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 It sounds like your running out of fuel and it is leaning out causing it to idle a little higher and then die. Did you try cleaning out the carbs? Quote
skylor Posted January 21, 2008 Author Report Posted January 21, 2008 No I haven't gotten to do anything yet because it's too cold out lol but when I do 'll try out everyones ideas and let you know how it goes. Quote
chevrolet banshee Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 Hears some advice for you bud. Clean out the carbs before you blow the thing then new plugs. I had a spark plug that wood spark just fine until i started the motor then i wood not run at a idle of half throttle. It wood pick up and go on when i pined it tho. But don't run that banshee until you get the carbs cleaned because you don't want to lose that banshee because it went lean. Chevshee Quote
