If your going to just trail ride it and hit the occasional jump, I would get the recreational valving instead of mx. If you are going to jump all the time then I would suggest the mx valving. As far as replacing hiem joints, I have only had to replace one, due to a severe crash that dam near totaled my shee. Full Flights shipping can be a little slow, but the arms have held up for me. No matter what, if you get aftermarket shocks you will be happy. Just get what you think will work best for you. Quote

Yes you can put a set of aftermarket shocks on your stock a arms then put them on a +2+1 set later on but you will need new stiffer main springs but they only run about 50-60 bucks. I run Elkas and I highly recomend them over any works shock. Even the Elka std no piggyback edition are a well worthy investment. Quote
rubberneck Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Just a little info for you. I first put works dual rates/rezzies on my bike and they worked better than stock. Ride was definitely nicer. I then upgraded to +2+1 arms. The A-arms made a huge difference in performance. The bike steers and corners so much better with the a-arms. The shocks made it ride nicer, but you really need both to get the full benefit. Quote

The yfz front end is awesome! I switched to works shocks, blew them on the first ride and went back tot he yfz front end. Since you probably dont believe me since you think the 450 front end swap is a joke, here is a video of me hitting the birch creek 110' triple on the yfz front end, and some pictures from practice days at another track. And to all you other 450 suspension haters, you must ride hard enough to know what good suspension is. WORKS SUCKS. Out of 5 quads Ive owned, I snapped 4 sets of front works shocks. They use the weakest shafts in the industry and if you ride hard, they are going to break. hercalmighty Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 I went with Jennsan mx tech +2+1 arms and Elka dual rates with compression adjustment. I got the Jennsans because they come with a lifetime guarntee against breakage and bending.
